Hello again from Frankenmuth Michigan. Haven't seen a video from you in a while so i sincerely hope all is well with you and yours. I built one of these from the Balsa Workbench short kit. Super quality cut and fit. Haven't had the chance to fly it yet but im sure it'll be fine. Very much appreciate the videos from a couple guys that have fun with model planes. Really nice build and video! The OS LA series of engines always seem to get a bad rap from folks who like the bushing engines and I'll admit they aren't as powerful, but they are really nice engines. I had an OS .40 FP that hauled a Sig LT-40 (70" wing) well enough to go through flight school with my RC club meaning it had to do loops, etc. While it didn't tear up the sky, it was a great engine, although my instructor told me I should have had a .46 on it. Money saved is money earned. 🙂

I've bought a number of short kits from him over the years and they are really good quality with excellent cutting. Well kind sir we are all doing well thanks for asking we are winding down a bit at our jobs. I have been flying quite a bit and out of all the small planes we built this winter the new era 2 is by far my favorite very smooth precise os 40 la proves to be plenty of power. Hi guys I have a scratch built New Era 3 that I'm flying. It too has a foam wing. Just got done with a scratch built (foam wing) Flea Fli+10. I also fly Futaba but I'm a Mode 1 pilot. Keep the videos coming. I also have videos on my channel. God bless you

I use double sided tape meant for vinyl floors to attach balsa and plywood wing skins. no issues with de-lamination yet.

Beautiful build and amazing flight. I have a Sig King Cobra build that will require a foam/balsa wing. Any chance you could demo your hot glue application technique in a future video? Even on a piece of scrap would be helpful. Thanks for the awsome video.

Thanks, I’m not sure what you are asking about the wing. It is a foam core leading edge is 9/16 sanded to shape. Leading edge sheeting is 2-1/4x3/32. Trailing edge was 3/8x1/4 trailing edge sheeting was 1 x 3/32 center section sheeted out 4” each wing half with cap strips on 2” centers all 3/32. Tips were 3/8 soft balsa all was attached with a hot glue gun using arrow glue sticks worked very nice. And the plane does fly quite nice. Thanks again

That’s what I said apparently if you read the supplement to the new era ii he used 3/32 thick cardboard glued directly to the foam and then painted it sounds heavy to me but that was in the early 70s all kinds of strange things going on lol

Just checked out the pronto looks interesting similar airfoil as the Stu Richmond corkscrew. If it were up to Matt & I we would try to build them all lol…. Definitely something we will consider in the future thanks for sharing
