A stiff stippling brush in those larger pore areas fixes it most times...and a finishing powder vs normal setting powder also helps minimize pores and gives more of an airbrushed look vs those dots. Hourglass ambient lighting powders do miracles for this. A dry sponge over those areas also gets Rid of the polka dots. No matter what foundation I use, on my nose and cheeks I always get the polkadots so the only way I have found to get rid of that is to use a very fine finishing powder such as the hourglass and sometimes will still need to take a real stiff stippling brush and just pounds on those areas or use a dry blender and press hard and that tends to smudge it out where it doesn’t show as collecting in pores and giving the polkadots. I like the nice Dewy look but you do certainly have to work with it if you have any enlarged pores. I’m 53 and that’s the only way I’ve been able to find aware of these luminous foundation’s without having the pore issues

I hope since your video has been up for a while that you have found that you love this. I heard that less is more with this foundation so I use just one pump. With radiance foundations it's best, in my opinion, to just use enough to cover. I'm so happy that I ordered this online without even sampling it. I don't want to wear my other foundations and they just might be thrown out.

Thanks for the super close ups. Not many reviewers do that. It really lets us see what you are talking about. I'm the same shade as you and I love this one. I don't get polka dot pores from it. I do have that issue sometimes. It happened with the new Fenty one for me. I've noticed in the past if my foundation is moisturizing but I've already went heavy with my skincare it can happen. Also if my skin is red (which it usually is after I apply anything) it shows and then settles down after the redness subsides. One of those annoying makeup mysteries.

Abby, I’ll wait for your review of the BR, but it’s the most exciting release of the year, isn’t it? I haven’t set up an experiment, but I do only seem to get the polka-dot pores with foundations that include chemical sunscreens. I’ll have to defer to those with broader foundation stashes. I only have 11 😜😱
@nosleep73574 жыл бұрын
Chemical sunscreens allow the heat of the sun to penetrate and enter the skin. (Minerals stop things from entering, and bounce things back off the skin) The UV rays, or sun's heat break down the supporting structures in the skin and face which causes pores to sag open after a few years of exposure to heat, etc. Of course pores are supposed to be adequate enough to supply our skin with needed oil and moisture.
@KaraLey983 жыл бұрын
No, it is the Liquid Zinc Oxide which causes the shiny look-- what some complain about a white cast, if its not so liquidy. Chemical sunscreens are considered "cosmetically elegant" bc they do not add any shiny, or gunky look.. It looks so much like the tinted sunscreens such as mostly mineral with the shine😞,, I don't like it at all.. butI now use it to mix in very small measure with other foundations, but only a tiny tiny bit. I donxt like to wear powder, so I can't really use this. There is no situation in which I only want to be seen from afar..😨

Tanya- I think we got it figured out- both those foundation have similar mix of high SPF and that is causing the polka dot pores! And in general I prep my skin with my skincare and then SPF and let it sink in. I also figured out that most of the foundations that I truly love don't have SPF - so that now makes so much more sense. NOW- that being said - everyone's skin is different and may not react to SPF like mine does. So this does not mean that this is a bad foundation- just not one for me! xoxo

Hi Abby, I wonder if the pooka dot pores can be from an ingredient in the SPF that settles into the pores. The most time I have this problem is when I pick a foundation shade that is too light for my skin. I grounded my eyes with a little bronzer yesterday. I had to go get a license renewal photo. I looked good in person but I'm not sure how the pic will come out. I used the Natasha Denona Love pallette. I like it a lot but I'm not sure if it would be your vibe.
@AbbyBlissWhite5 жыл бұрын
M Wall- yes- I think it is the SPF!! I tend to love my foundations that don't contain SPF - so this makes perfect sense now. AND I am so glad you tried the bronzer/grounding technique : ) LOL! AND I am thrilled you love the Natasha! I will admit that I am intrigued- but just think it my sit in my makeup drawer unused after I do a video on it : ) THank you for watching. xoxo

Sorry it didn’t work as well for you. I’ve had good luck with this and the new Lancôme Renergie but I have quite a few years on you. My priority is not feeling/looking dry or settle into lines/creases. Both of these check those boxes for me. Love the finish on both!

Marie-- I am SO happy it is working for YOU and to be honest- I am sort of surprised by this polka dot pore thing- I wanted to LOVE it! Same with the Tom Ford one.... but something is just not jiving and I don't really want to start using a primer just for the foundation if that makes sense? I have a million other ones. LOL!

I like it, but I don’t love it... I agree that it settles into my pores more than a lot of foundations, and I did use a pore filling primer.

Thanks for this review, I was thinking of trying this as I like the double wear foundation but now I think I’ll pass due to the fragrance. I once had a lovely moisturiser from Estée Lauder which had a cucumberish scent, i loved the fresh smell and it felt great on my skin but something in it set off my (usually controlled) rosacea, my bet was it being the fragrance. I have too many foundations that I love to risk having a bad face week😂
@AbbyBlissWhite5 жыл бұрын
Gillian- I WILL tell you that I developed a few bumps and blemishes yesterday and am pretty darn sure it is a mix of SPF and the fragrance. MY skin truly only likes physical sunscreens or a mix of physical/chemical in moderation but after testing this out for a few days and another one - my SKIN is NOT happy. LOL! So the good news is that you are saving money!!! xoxo

Hi Abby: Not surprised that the ingredient panel starts out pretty close to each other. Estee Lauder owns Tom Ford plus a zillion other cosmetic companies. There is bound to be overlap somewhere at sometime. By the way....found out from a Nordstrom contact I have that the new Tom Ford face/eye palettes for Spring 2020 will be released the last week of March. Keep an eye out! :) Also, tried again a sample of Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. Funny how when you try things for the first time it may not be a hit but this time I feel a little differently about it. Remember when you would do reviews on this product when you first started on KZbin....you were the only one I knew that reviewed it at all. How do you feel about it now? Going down memory lane here.... ;) Thanks much!

So interesting that the Estée Lauder foundation which is identical to the tom Ford is 1/3 the price. This is now the 3rd item of tom ford products that has been called out. Eye shadow in a quad that was identical to a MAC one, a concealer from smash box that is identical and has twice as much product and half the price and now this. I do know that it is all under the Estée Lauder umbrella but come on if people are willing to spend for luxury then make it luxury. Do not dupe them anymore. I thank you for your honest review on this and so happy to see you chose the Estée Lauder. I find some foundations do that to my pores as well and the Surat, Sisley, Armani silk foundation and Chanel vital lumiere aqua and Les beige water tint do not give me the white pore look. I wonder if it is the sunscreen in it? 😘thank you

Hi Abby! I wonder if you used a primer if it would help. I always use a primer, not a pore filling primer but the Hangover Rx Replenishing by Too Faced. I got mine last week but haven't used it yet. I've been loving the Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere that I also go last week. It's really good! Tomorrow I'll try the EL and let you know. If it doesn't work out I definitely will be taking it back but everything I've heard so far has been positive, but everyone is different. I wish I could cut down on my foundations but I just can't....I love all my children...Lol! And I have 21 of them. At one time I had a lot more. I just love them all so much for different reasons. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Abby.....on to the next one! xxoo

Beverly - I am sure it would but since I have so many other 'children' that I love and don't have to use a primer with - it makes me pause. And I was told that we need a WARDROBE of FOUNDATION so don't feel bad. I love all my foundations too!! I just learned that it is the high SPF that is most likely giving me the polka dots and am also realizing that the foundations that I really love don't have SPF! BINGO - I am figuring this out. I don't really have pore issues in general so that is why this was so surprising because I have a bunch of foundations that never give me issues with showing pores and such.
