New evening medicines routine

Elin has a new medicine prescribed, melatonin, which is changing our evening routine. Tonight you get to see me cutting nails on my disabled child, brushing her teeth and listen to how she vocalises when she communicates with me.
Melatonin is often used for children with special needs to help them sleep, but Elin has never had it before. New evening medicines routine.
I'm a special needs mum vlogger in the UK with two daughters, one of whom is severely disabled. Elin is a girl with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, she has a feeding tube, is a wheelchair user and as she can't use the toilet independently she is in a nappy / diaper.
Apart from cerebral palsy, Elin has complex medical needs and seizure disorder. She has tonic clonic, or grand mal seizures, partial focal seizures and absence seizures. She is on multiple medications every day, for her spastic muscles, for her reflux disorder and for her epilepsy. Elin is on a blended diet, which we give her through her feeding tube, and I share tips, how to and recipes.
On this channel I share our day to day life, our morning, feeding, medication and bedtime routines, feeding techniques, how Elin communicates, etc. I also showcase the relationship between Elin and her sister Alice, and how they play and interact with each other.

I think the melatonin is helping but it has taken a bit of time. And acoustic Skunk Anansi is just brilliant!

I'm really interested to see how you get on with the melatonin, I've a 12 yr old who has Down Syndrome and she's been a nightmare pretty much since birth sleep wise, it's like her mind just can't switch off and more recently she's getting up in the middle of the night and sneaking downstairs. Usually she's the most heavy footed child on the planet but middle of the night she's like a cat burglar! I think that however is hormone based (yes the hormones I've dreaded since she was a baby). Our GP answer? Fill her with piriton?!!

Oh my, cat burglar in the middle of the night 😂😍😂. I think the melatonin is helping but as a substance it helps you go to sleep, not stay asleep necessarily. Still, it's worth trying. Elin usually wakes up a lot throughout the night and she sleeps better and longer with this.

How do you know if she is having a seizure

With difficulty, if I'm honest. Her seizures are really hard to spot.
