At 4:50 they’re rolling the strip between the pitch and the stand ready for the installation of artificial grass (astro turf), which will surround the entire pitch and will also be laid for the ‘technical areas’ in front of the dugouts

Hi nick, the pitch I'm sure is the same one as st helens RL had installed half way through last season to cater for liverpool women playing there and having to have a premiership standard playing surface. Saints had a 4 week window to have this fitted and now looks fantastic. Brilliant on the money raised mate BTW.

Just looked up how long it takes grass seed to grow. Apparently, it is 8-10 days to sprout & 6-8 weeks for full coverage. Can't wait to see a fully green pitch

Via your content Nick, we can see that those saying we should use the stadium for this season, even if for part of it, were well off it. I suspect it won’t be ready (allowing for fixes, snagging, the pitch to settle in) until April/May at the latest. Nice one again Mr Drone. UTFT

Yesterday I believe a cultivator was was making groves and seeding and today they were rolling it flat. At the side was sand/hardcore being laid and rolled ready for blue astro turf to go around the edge of this pitch. If the under soil heating and lights are used there could be grass there in 2-3 weeks.

They’ve turned on the floodlights tonight, so I assume that’s to help the grass germinate. They’ve also turned the blue lights on the east barrel cladding - looks amazing

@@DuncTheBlue1878 Light doesn't affect buried seeds. It's warmth and water that get the seeds going. Light becomes important as soon as the shoots poke their tips above the soil.

Any news on the application for the Bramley Moore hotel from the hearing on Tuesday just gone yet? be interesting to see what other amenities pop up around the new Everton stadium at Bramley Moore dock. 50,000 plus football fans are going to want pubs, restaurants, hotels and shops etc. I know it's not a million miles away from the city centre but still.

I imagine if you are stitching into soil it would have to be very compacted or the threads would come out,that is the reason for heavy rolling

John: Rolling is not primarily because of the artificial stitching. It's primarily to make sure the surface is 'true' before the grass roots knit the surface. It's much harder to correct an imperfection after that stage. There is sophistication in getting the levels right, with a camber as well, of course. After the grass tips poke their noses above the soil, then I'd expect the UV Arrays to make an appearance and they need the pitch to be hardened as well, so as not to create tracks. I'd expect the stitching to be happening only after the grass roots have produced a decent 'mat'.

@@DarrenCowzer-cx7ot Hi, Darren. I have to admit that I did phase out when Nick was reading as the reading material is accessed online. The stitching for a NEW Hybrid pitch at 95%/5% has the stitching laid after the natural grass is well-bedded and I should point out that the seeding has been undertaken already. To what you refer is when they recommend refurbishment every year due to the build up of organic matter. When they refurbish they remove the natural grass, resettle the surface with minimum disturbance of the loam and artificial layer before reseeding on top.

The east stand where the windows are doesn't have lights, it may look better if they add similar lights there attached to the windows, no poles needed.

L1’s Stevenage FC had this done during this summers close season. Costs around £20k on to a mature pitch. Ours was paid for by spurs so their u23’s can increase from 6 to 15 games per season. Surely EFC will turf as they did at Andield then apply the sew in once mature. Surely no one seeds a pitch anymore and has professional growers mature a lawn in the perfect conditions.

@kevinsmall4308 club will have a rough idea of how many is required, possibly a waiting list, i think it's great that we have decent amount for the fans that need them, but imo it ruins the big home end by breaking up the seats and I think the area should of been at the rear of the stand or added in other stands

I’m not going to insult your intelligence, you know there are regulations in place to dictate how new builds should accommodate disabled users. I’ll just say that passionate Everton supporters are both disabled and able bodied and deserve the same consideration

I thought the pitch was going to be a plastic ( 20% ish or less) woven pitch. ie… grass turf by SIS ( I think that’s either the firm or technical term) that will be laid, not seeded. I’ll obviously stand corrected if that’s not the case.

That's a hell of a rant. All companies have to state their level of Climate Change awareness these days and it all has to be looked at in the round. Just for the record I'd state that Climate Change is definitely a proven force and we, human kind, do have to address it at all levels.
