I've been a fan of Final Fantasy ever since a friend of mine first introduced me to the franchise via FF7. I've been a devoted fan of the franchise ever since. The Pixel Remaster infamously didn't include the credits, but eventually they patched them back in. The video she watched must have been taken before they patched the credits back in, which is a shame. One vote for redoing these on the original release versions.

56:09 despite the similarities, they aren't Lopporitz, but they're the moogles of Ivalice, which is the setting of FF12, FF Tactics, and Vagrant Story. The Ivalice games are also where the Viera originated as well 1:19:37 this is the intro to FF14 1.0. A Realm Reborn was 2.0. The 1.0 contents are lost to the aether, ss it was such a disaster, that they rebuilt 2.0 from scratch.

@@MakoTenseii 13 was hated due to reverting to being linear, over promising in marketing, Not adding towns or many NPCs to interact with due to developers not wanting to put the effort in to make them visually appealing (they admitted to this), and a romance you are expected to care about despite one of the involved characters literally being in stasis with near zero interaction, also hope. 13-2 mainly got hate because when you finally get to see Sarah not in stasis suddenly her romantic partner Snow is missing and replaced by another man with whom Snow is practically cucked emotionally even if Sarah isn't the type to cheat. It still gives us more exposure to her and a personal journey with noel instead of snow. Though storyline wise it is understandable snow had more important world shaking things to be doing. However, this romance issue is a large part of why 13-2 is hated on. 13-Lightning Returns is mainly hated on for the way it treats the main cast aside from lightning and it's move away from the systems fans were accustomed to. Obviously nothing wrong with liking them and they are games that should be played to see if they appeal to you.

Don't get me wrong, i'm glad you like XIII trilogy. . But me, I didn't like them. I don't mind linear games as long as the story interest me and that's where XIII failed for me. I'm not interested with the story nor any of the characters. I hate Vanille's voice to this day. Anyway, I force myself to finish the game because I paid for it. There's nothing wrong in liking the game. Even I have games that are hated that I like.

The magitek armour they're riding in the ff6 intro is what the mount we get at the end of ARR is actually based on, (its concept art at least) and plays that song when you ride it. Doma castle actually drops a mount more based on the pixel art too.

@@GilbettaGaming I only started in 2019.. and only recently within the past year did a decent grind, getting through A Realm Reborn, Heavensward and now a bit into Stormblood. also did a bit of a dive into what the game was like before ARR. its all very interesting and would highly suggest looking into it. the main things to look at are some old clips of before the servers shut down and the Song "Answers" along with the music video👍 Welcome to the land of Eorzea, hero of light.

I just realized there's a difference between FF7 and FF7 remake intro cinematic. In FF7, Aerith doesn't look behind her as if something was chasing her, and she never bumps into anyone. In the original FF7, she bumps into someone and thats where Cloud meets her for the first time I believe. 34:40 Don't take these things too literally or seriously, its just a transition between scenes when you see feathers and swords together. I'm a bit surprised they didn't include FF7 Dirge of Cerberus in that compilation video, ah well.

Ffx is a game that took me 10 years to finish and me finishing it was tied to my own character development so everytime I see it mentioned I always remember when I finished it at lowest point of my life, tears in my eyes as I said goodbye to those characters that were stuck in time for 10 years accepting that I also had to say goodbye to my childhood dream and move on. I still consider FF12 the best of the series though lol

well its not good i can tell, the best of the 3 is 13-2 and worths it atleast to play. if you just want to go for story, well, its okish, nothing really mind blowing(pc port is also not great). but well you cant really play 13-2 without 13 as you lack some background story. but for 13, the story is told threw reading datalogs in the menu.

I'd say to try them out to see if you like them. There's still a lot of ff fans who still don't like the ff13 games, but I noticed that people who have been playing them more recently seem to like them. I know i enjoyed all 3 ff13 games, especially bc the music is so good in those games. I would say to maybe get them when they're on sale or play them for free if you have Xbox game pass (I think that's what it was called).

@@kevin13cabello and install a 60 fps patch, just for the music i dont buy a game alone, even if its great, spotify has the songs, youtube has them for free. the combat in ff13 is boring, capped by story and most of the time pretty unfair(aka if leader dies, its game over, your other party members can die tho). your leveling progress is capped to story, the game is 90% corridor onwards(not a bad thing in particular, but there is no other thing you do, you move threw it, grab the obvious placed chests, and beat enemys with the same press auto attack 3-5 times till enemy is dead thing). so the gameplay is a boring loop, the story is...eh okish i would say, the soundtrack is great, the character progress feels absolute dumb and weapon upgrades aswell, i mean you can play threw the game without spending any gil at all

@@kevin13cabello yup the 13 trilogy is all on steam they were pretty clowned on when they were new because at the time was when other RPG series came out that were like real competition for people's hearts. for both high quality CG's and story telling. They came out at the same time as games like Mass Effect, Skyrim, the wave of Open world games like Assassin's creed. soo when 13 was playing in the same field as those game and was mostly a linear string of fights with no towns it looked bad by comparison. the phrasing at the time was "it gets good after 14 hours" because that's how long it took for you to hit the second half of the game when the world map finally opens and the combat system gives you freedom to customize the characters. A lot of people thought that the railroad opening 14 hours where the game choses who you're playing when you're playing them and very little in ways to customize boring. Looking back they become a lot better if you care enough about the characters to be invested in their drama.. the upside to the first half's strictly linear design is that the story of that section is pretty well laid out and paced. buuuut it's a gamble because if you don't like this or that group of character's then spending hours at a time with them can get annoying until you have the freedom to swap them out in the open world bit.

So about the XIV 1.0 intro, the Echo used to be VERY different back then. It didn't just let you see flashes of the past, it physically transposed you into a mindscape version of those memories. Understand by this that you could actually interact with it, and the people in the echo were aware of your presence as if you were always there. This had interesting effects, such as allowing you to be given items in that echo, and still possess them in the present (this is actually a plot point in the Limsa storyline, although it's not obvious at first). The entire twist of 1.0's original story is that you actually spent half of your time swapping and out of the Echo without even realizing it (don't question why you never notice people being 10 years younger half of the time, the magics of game graphics making you look eternally young lol). So to the people, you just looked like some well-meaning but weird person that'd randomly bring up stories of the past as if they were still relevant. If you watch the cutscenes and pay attention, you'll notice that there are hints about this such as people needing a moment to remember what you're talking about, whereas from your POV, it just happened. But yeah, that's why Derplander is fighting alongside the Lalafell, Roegadyn and Elezen in the Echo in this opening, he's physically living the memory the Echo threw him in as if he also was a part of it. Also, don't know why, but that's definitely not the original audio for that movie. Those are BGM from the game, the movie had its own music made for it that matched its beats.

Who the hell cried at that game? It's one of the worst told stories in the franchise, and considering the number of duds SE has produced, that's really saying something. I'm pretty sure the only way to have this take is to have not only not played many other FF games, but not played many story-focused games in general. Aldo is the Thancred of FFXI. Only difference is that in FFXI he is the leader of the Tenshodo rather than being a subordinate like Thancred in XIV. The girl survives also but she loses her memories and ends up living a quiet life in Selbina. She becomes involved in a story line later when Masato Kato the original writter of FFXI came back to do the addon scenario A crystalline Prophecy.

Final Fantasy XV is complicated to say the least. It was made during the height of the Square Enix drama, and it was originally going to be Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Key staff was removed, the assets were retooled, the story was entirely changed. This restructuring gave the game a long development and marketing cycle, with lots of story pieces delivered before the game was even released. To truly experience Final Fantasy XV, you need to watch Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV, which is a feature length film, read an english transcription of a japanese audio drama, watch a miniseries anime OVA, and after you finish the game and its DLCs, you need to read the book that finished up the story. The things contained in the book were originally planned to be DLC before it was cut and never made playable. Some of the other Final Fantasies are also complicated, but not to the degree of XV. XV is the only one where the player has a deficit of relevant information by playing the game first. Also, P.S. Final Fantasy VII REMAKE is a sequel in a long line of entries and not a remake. You should ABSOLUTELY play the original, and maybe the rest of the FFVII compilation before moving on with REMAKE, REBIRTH, and whatever the 3rd title will be named.

To sum up that narration though, in the world of XII there are two superpowers. The invading force is one of them, but they have no qualm with Dalmasca. Also, spoiler-free explanation of the openings from the games I played: FF1, FF2, FF4- scenes cover it pretty well. nothing to say. FF4 after years- was basically showing a lot of the characters you play as (and one was just plot relevant). but the first green haired girl is not rydia FF7- basically showcased the city and the start of Cloud's first mission with Barret. FF8- again, showing plot relevant characters. And yes, that was Leon from Kingdom Hearts, but he goes by Squall originally FF9- that storm and that girl is connected. she's actually 16 btw. Also, that wasn't a heartless, that's a black mage named Vivi, but he did appear in a KH game. FF10- that 1st scene is intended to be cryptic. 2nd scene shows some of the start of the main guy's journey. also, yes, that was wakka with the red hair, and also tidus is the main character. rikku was also in that scene FF10-2- Rikku and newcomer Paine were trying to get to that dancer (who looks like Yuna from the first FF10). won't explain anything past that. FF12- Dalmasca has a wedding, but then is interrupted by a sudden war from an enemy country. this drives almost all of the plot so I won't explain more. Also those tiny bunny eared characters are actually moogles. moogles are in almost every final fantasy but that's the first time they looked different than normal. and yes, FF12 was heavily inspired by Star Wars... FF13- More fighting with more soldiers. Again, not explaining much more for plot reasons. and yes, FF13 looks good cause of the PS3 graphics and how cinematic a lot of it's cutscenes are. FF13-2- Deals with a lot of time related stuff. Not saying much more than that except that things are a bit convoluted. Lightning Returns- it's essentially FF13-3. As the scene said, 13 days to go. as in the last 13 days period. side note- the FF13 series was shoved down our throats and FF13 itself was already divisive. Square jumped the gun on 2 sequels to FF13. imo, they aren't bad games, but square did overhype the FF13 series and it did suffer a bit due to that. FF15- never payed it, but I do know that it's another case like FF12 where the involvement of multiple countries drives the plot. And side note, this is the first final fantasy that doesn't use a turn based or ATB system. You freely get to move around and fight.

Final Fantasy 5 has a pixel remaster on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch Final Fantasy 15 is on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox The Final Fantasy 13 trilogy, unfortunately, is only on PC currently unless you have original PS3 or Xbox 360 hardware And it seemed like you were also interested in Final Fantasy 12. That one has an HD remaster on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox but it is also the Zodiac Age edition that was originally a Japanese exclusive. The original version of FF12 is only on PS2

If you want to start playing with the old ones, you can't go wrong with either 6 7 8 9 and 10. There are also 3D remakes of 3 and 4 which are great. For the new ones, I highly suggest 15, 16 and 7R series. 3 is pretty classic. you take control of luneth and his friends and save the the world, the crystals. (MC is Luneth in the 3D remake) 4 is slightly complex. You play as Cecil, a dark Knight of the empire sent to capture a crystal and massacred a village.(against his will) 6 is about a resistance group trying to overthrow an empire. With tons of lovable characters and a very interesting villain. 7 same with 6 but in 3d and have cloud. 8 is about Squall, a silent introvert, military student and Rinoa, a cheerful princess (kinda) it's their love story. (Very good if you like love story) 9 didn't finish but I only hear good things about this game. 10 kinda like 8 but different world and setting. Tidus and Yuna love story. Very sad. (might make you cry) 15 a prince got sent off to meet his bride to be, he sleeps one night and spoilers. His Kingdom is gone and crystal captured. (might make you cry) 16 Jon snow goes on his journey for revenge. Very action oriented. Very sad as well. (might make you cry)

So each Final Fantasy game is its own story, set in its own world unless stated otherwise. The only exception to this is Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X, but it holds zero bearing on the story itself. A lot of the themes are reused to tell new stories, so you can expect to see a lot of familiar things, such as names, summons, spells and of course, Crystals. As many others have pointed out, Final Fantasy XIV has MANY openings. You should watch a compilation video of all of them, from 1.0 to Dawntrail. HOWEVER, if you plan to play XIV, I recommend skipping the Heavensward opening. They show a HUGE spoiler in the trailer/opening for Heavensward, which got a lot of backlash at the time, so all future openings for it refrained from showing any major spoilers. If you DO plan on playing XIV all the way through to current content, I recommend reacting to each XIV opening as and when you reach that expansion, as while not much is spoiled, there are some elements that could be considered minor spoilers such as characters appearing that may remove tension at earlier points of the story. Lastly, I recommend playing IX. Doesn't matter if its first or last, but IX is my personal favourite. A simple, fantasy setting with magic, love and a giant blue demigod. Oh, and it has The Most Flamboyant Villain in the series, Kuja.

Definitely recommend 6 if you liked 4 and want to try another real classic one. Its the peak of the series as far as im concerned. Really interesting story, especially for when it came out. I agree with others who say 13 is overhated. I really loved it personally, and ive not been interested in much from the series past 10. Speaking of which, 10 is also a strong entry. It was the first in the series to feature voice acting so kinda the first to have a somewhat modern feel to it, but the gameplay still feels pretty classic. Pretty good story too. And its sequel is kinda dumb but a lot of fun as well

FF3 DS’s wasn’t here! Nor DS FF4! Those two openings are so great and iconic, and really show off the strengths of Asano, the guy behind Bravely and Octopath and… pretty much all HD-2D haha. I really hope those two can be included in a follow-up of some kind. FF3 DS was my first FF, so I have a lot of nostalgia for it haha. This including The After Years and not the original version when both were on the DS however… it doesn’t even sound right?

FF8 will always be my favorite opening. I think finishing the story makes me appreciate it a lot more. "This feels like something out of Star Wars" funny enough the devs said that Star Wars was a great inspiration for FFXII. lol I tried 13 and couldn't get into it. idk why just the story fails to grab me. Who knows, maybe it will click better with you than it did with me. As somebody whose fav is often the one joked about being one of the worst, I understand what it is like to enjoy an unpopular FF game despite not being into that particular one myself.

The Pixel Remasters captured the originals 1:1. They aren't lazy and the 3D remakes had nice openings but the games were ugly as hell, they should have been remade on more powerful hardware.

I would strongly recommend just watching the FF14 A Realm Reborn trailer and then playing. Watch the others as you get there. 1.0 is the original FF14, which no longer exists because it was awful. They destroyed it as seen in the A Realm Reborn trailer -- stopped the game, put everyone into that cutscene, To Be Continued In A Realm Reborn. Then it was I think a 2 year wait before ARR actually launched. But yeah some of the later trailers contain spoilers for events later in the story. The one I'd say is safe to watch with minimal spoiler risk is Shadowbringers; half the stuff people think they figured out from that trailer is wrong anyway and that's with the context of events up to then. Plus I think it's the best trailer and arguably the best expansion, so if you need any motivation to get through the earlier expansions maybe that'll help But yeah tl;dr A Realm Reborn is the trailer for where the game starts now. You haven't even seen modern FFXIV

FF13 trilogy was ahead of its time and the hate back then was so forced. It was different, something new and I'm glad that you developed a liking to that part especially! Hope to see you play thru the trilogy eventually.

Nope. Wasn't forced, and the only way it was ahead of its time was by putting graphics before quality of gameplay, pacing, and story telling. The only thing that was different about it was being like a worse version of other games that preceded it. That's it. Still bad to this day. Hell, tried going back to it last year to give it another chance, and it's STILL a slog full of bad characters, poor story telling, and a lack of any feeling of progression.

FF13 was my first and favorite FF but most of the FF fans did not like 13 and it fail a bit, peoples find the game linear and the story confusing , if you play 13 you need to read the lore synopsis in the game or your gonna be lost, they put you in this world and explain nothing :)

Been a fan of the FF series back in 1989 each one is great. But the series really kicks off at FF4. Out of all of them I hold FF10 at the top the story is just amazing, the game play and Sphere Grid is the best system FF has ever made. Along all that I was a blitz ball nut. FF13 many don't seem to like it maybe the story go's over their head but the music damn no one can talk shit about the sound track. FF10 got me to tear up at the end but FF15 put me in a loop the game gives you hints of what is going to happen but I really didn't see it coming it left me feeling so sad and bewildered. And with FF16 I see a lot of people with one major problem you need to do the "side quest" this adds to a lot of character development and world building. FF games are story heavy don't forget that.

They wanted to recreate the success of 7 but they were all flash and no substance with the most boring zero personality characters and pointless plots and constantly switching themes and aesthetics and dogshit combat. The trailers are the most interesting parts about those games.

I’m pretty sure that was gonna be the only FF13 type game that would have been the absolute BEST FF13(Fabula Nova Crystallis) type game….like the potential….what could’ve been man smh they should’ve never kicked Nomura off the project just to leave its roots from Nomuras vision and turn it into that God Damn Unforsaken Big Piece Of Shit that is FF15 smh….maybe Fabula Nova Crystallis Stories wouldn’t have been RUSHED to meet certain deadlines smh
