Hi Kev, we've had a couple of short breaks in the Forest of Dean this year and really enjoyed the walks from Coalway and Hillersland with some splendid views. Also saw deer quite close but gone quickly when they saw you. Got close to a wild boar sniffling in the undergrowth but didn't actually see it. The views from Symonds Yat Rock are worth a visit but the path up from the river is good to test the lungs. Look out for the peregrine falcons. Lots of mining in the Forest in years gone by so could add this to The Miners list 😋. Regards Keith

@@welshrambler1893 ha, I don't think I can add any new hills to the Miner's list. It's already pretty challenging. I'll definitely visit the Forest of Dean again. I've done Symonds Yat a couple of times. Lovely place

Lovely area the F O.D . spent 2 days there early 80s in my mad teens following the RAC Lombard Rally that had stages through there , one at night They were doing 100mph plus on that same forest track you was walking on ! When The Rally moved on after the night stages we spent the next day there walking round . Really nice place. Must go back and do a wild camp.

Yeah, I like looking at OS Maps on my phone and finding interesting spots to visit. Glad I did as it was a good walk.
