Hey Kev 😊 I used to do this a lot, just park up close to a public way sign and head off on an explore. Always something nice about not knowing what to expect and just enjoying the trail as it comes. This looked lovely along the river, that was a great close up shot of the cormorant. You’ve got some nice countryside near you. Loved the sunflowers 🌻

I tend to do the 'get lost for a while' then find my way back again approach to walking is my favourite way of finding interesting paths and places. The only downside I find is that walks can end up being a lot longer than the initial time I intended! Most recently I thought a walk would take 2 hours and thought I'd try a new track and ended up having a 5 hour trek. All good though if you're sensible and don't take silly risks.
@TheWalkingKev4 ай бұрын
@@jezriggs the other risk I find is footpaths disappearing or being totally overgrown. But I've also been surprised by mini named circular walks really well signposted that I'd not heard of.

You picked a beautiful random trail. Thst inn was so cute and perfectly placed. Gorgeous scenery and views I tend to have a few favorites I like to hike every spring, but I love to go find new trails every year. 😊 Thanks for sharing 👍

Brilliant Kev. I do the exact same thing. I cycled up to that village a liked while ago and took the drone up over the castle and valley. I then headed along the old train route and tunnel past Tintern 👍

@@PhilipOlsen11 I've enjoyed doing that this year, although with time constraints I've still done a lot of local walks from the house. I appreciate I'm lucky with what's on my doorstep.

Lovely walk Kev and some fantastic shots of the beautiful countryside. I’ve fancied a pint in that pub in Redbrook for ages but haven’t got round to it yet. It looks great , will take the family there one day soon. Best wishes

I much prefer this style of video to the endless gear reviews tbh

@@joebadger I'm trying to keep a mix between the two. The gear reviews get way more views and provide a little bit of revenue through ads so they are essential to supporting this hobby.

great idea, and not something i have done. shall give it a try sometime. i did after your recommendation get the regatta packable insulated jacket. i was over in Northern Ireland recently and saw one. packs so much smaller than a fleece, and much more versatile. good call on that product Kev, i'm more that pleased with it.

The hostel is a great place to stay to do a couple of different walks in this area. As I recall a good variation of wild flowers this in the area. It is nice to explore my ew areas and to experience not knowing exactly where you are on a particular route. However,with the advent of readily available digital navigation aids,in particular the mobile phone, the experience of being "lost" is a rare event.

@@AB-qp6yj yes, it is hard to get lost unless you're in a remote place and the weather really gets bad.

Lovely relaxing watch Kev.. mostly in what I would lovingly call "sex education country" these days..lol. I have done afew walks around this area and a few years ago I did one of the events that the SW LDWA organised. There is an unoffical route/trail starting in the Wye that goes up through the valley and I think ends up in the Black mountains - called the Monmouthshire Way.. designed by Morgs - he showed a little of it to Derek Brockaway on his weatherman walking series. atb Al
