New fans discovering Submas after PLA

I've never seen these men before. I've never played any of 5 gen games. But seeing them makes me go :)

hi, it's been a week (probably less, idk) since I first found an art of Ingo and Emmet and I immediately liked them. it took me around 3 days to figure out what Submas meant (found it on Tumblr since google won't tell me) and another to know their name. after some confidence I finally decided to take a look at the fandom and... many of them like "put them back, why you do this" and I was like "what's going on here?". after some research, ... I found why? . "why did they separate them, this is sad T^T"

As someone who has always liked Ingo and Emmet (especially Emmet, he's my fave) but was never a part of the Fandom for them until now when I saw how they did our poor boys dirty in Arceus, this feels like a callout but also a very warm welcome.

i've liked them since gen v so getting to see all this new fanfic, art, love, etc., is great!! the submas fandom was always a bit small but now we've got so many more in english speaking regions and stuff!

Yes, EXACTLY. I had seen them in my initial playthrough of B/W and though, “oh cool, subway bosses and Ingo speaks a lot like I do”, and thought nothing more of it, then PLA happened and I was like “hold up. Wait a minute. INGO?”

I always knew Ingo and Emmet as the trainers from the subway but I never did the subway much because younger me was scared of battle facilities for some reason (playing through a lot of older games to make up for it though). Now I would kill for Ingo and bury a corpse for Emmet. Elesa has has a similar boost in favour from me as well from association.

I've never played a gen5 game. I've been planning to play Pokémon White for such a long time, for many different reasons, submas content was the last little push i needed to make me stop procrastinating

White 2 is one of the 3 Pokémon games that made my childhood. (The others being Sapphire and SoulSilver) I never managed to get too interested in the battle facilities until I found Red in the Battle Tree on Ultra Moon, and by then I had completely forgotten about the twins. When I first saw Ingo I immediately recognized him from a short bit of dialogue and went "OH MY GOD WHY IS HE HERE. WHAT KIND OF LORE BROUGHT HIM HERE." So I immediately went to Bulbapedia and looked him up. I am now *very* invested in the submas fandom. Speaking of which, I think I'll replay White 2 and finally challenge them to that battle!

your reaction to him was so similar to mine- I saw him while helping my sister with her legends arceus, I had just beaten arcanine for her cause she was struggling, and as soon as Ingo walked on screen i went "... pokemon white was my first mainline pokemon game and i... never realllyyy messed with the battle subway, because of my little 8-9 y/o brain just doing its own thing. i never encountered the subway bosses and they didn't enter my awareness until PLA, but i know if i had just gone through the subway and/or looked into it more online, ingo and emmet would've instantly become my favorites; twin/close sibling characters have always been ones i relate to alot :) and especially with how neurodivergent-coded these two are kinda glad i finally made my way into the submas fandom though, despite being as late as i had been. funny little muppet train men

Yes, BW and B2W2 did not sell very well apparently, so they didn't make that many copies of them and thus if any fans who didn't get to play them want to try them, they will have a hard time getting a hold of a copy and will end up either saying forget it or paying exorbitant fees. I myself have both White and White 2, and am thankful that when I was a child I got both games when they first came out. Even more so now because I'm able to lend them to friends and my baby cousin who never got to play them. If you can't find a friend who has them and is willing to let you borrow them, then I'd say your best bet is just to look up a playthrough here on YT.
