I’m Jewish and have found there are barely any Jewish sleuths. I also read tarot! So I can’t wait for the book you mentioned to come out! Also can’t wait for the next bake shop mysteries. I went on a bender last summer and binged the whole bake shop mystery books by audio on commute and have stayed caught up. I also loved the pies before guys mysteries. Misha Popp can write! Somehow she makes books cozy that have such a dark subplot of abuse. Nothing graphic and for me it makes me feel invested in the women after some pretty severe childhood trauma with DV. Spencer you picked so many read and anticipated books!!! Love is video. I’ll keep referring back to it for new reading.

It sounds like you've had a great reading year so far! You have peaked my interest in trying some new series. My favorite cozy mystery series I've read thus far this year is A Pancake House by Sarah Fox followed closely by Bailey the Bloodhound series by Kallie E Benjamin. My favorite sequel is Baking Spirits Bright by Sarah Fox. I read three of Sarah Fox's series (Pancake House, True Confections, and Literary Pub) this year and they are all great so she my favorite new author this year. I'm looking forward to so many cozies in the second half of the year. I've had a great reading year so far! 📚💚

I’m going to be reading Abby Jimenez soon. My romance friends rave about her! I’ve only read the first 3 or 4 of the Bakeshop mysteries but I definitely want to dive in to the Body in the Bookstore. The indie book Dead To Rights sounds so good! Adding it to the TBR.

I loved Ellie’s Body in the Bookstore but almost DNF’d it MANY times because the victim was just so unlikable. I couldn’t stand hearing about her and was so turned off by the more I learned. The book was so cozy and whimsical and the last 1/4th was SO good that it all came full circle and I can now say I love the book. If there is any criticism it’s that Ellie writes too good and made this extremely unlikable pop off the page. lol it felt like I knew her. I’m just starting the 2nd book and am excited to hopefully have a victim that makes me feel invested in and not wanting to scream. Once again Ellie has right from the start built a world with powerful characters that I can’t wait to see evolve. I’m definitely hoping for more Fletcher. He’s a sweetie. Anyway, this would be a good book club book because there is just so much to discuss.

Yesss to all of this! I adore Fletcher so much. And Ellie’s writing is definitely addictive haha

I read Just for the Summer and it was great! However, I struggled with it being marketed as a rom-com just because there were just as many poignant scenes as humor. I know it’s all opinion, but when I hear rom-com I think light and fluffy.
@IntentionallyBookish4 ай бұрын
You are so right! I almost put it down in the beginning when I got the male MC’s backstory but I’m glad I kept going. I typically do prefer lighter romcoms though ☺️
