I'm dying to see how Fami interprets lots of songs in the existing catalogue. I'm hoping she doesn't just clone Miho's playing style but puts her own flavour into it.

Miyako's solo on her Les Paul during "Break the Wall" is so smooth and is a beautiful contrast to the rest of what is really a rip your face off thrash song. And "Hammer of Wrath" is my favourite Thrash song by Lovebites. I especially love it when Asami has her little head bang - it is just so cute. These songs are both as good as any song ever performed by Slayer or any other big time thrash band. Thrash fans around the world who don't know these songs exist are missing out.

And it showcases Haruna's ability on the drums. She really is a superb drummer, and makes a total mockery of the old joke about what do you call someone who hangs out with musicians. Answer: a Drummer. Haruna plays her drum kit as a musical instrument, not just as a timekeeper.

Miho wrote the foundation for Break the Wall, while Miyako then added color to the composition. Miyako wrote the guitar solo in the middle with Gary Moore in mind. From the EP Battle Against Damnation Lyrics: Miho Music: Miho and Miyako Arrangement: Miyako/LoveBites

I share your curiosity. With Fami's more "technical" bass style, I'm hoping that Fami's addition to Lovebites actually gives the existing catalogue a slightly new flavour, and I also expect her skills to be utilised in future releases. I also hope that the sound mixer brings the bass track forward just a little more in the mix in future releases. In my opinion, Miho's work was too often buried too far back in the mix, but that could just be my personal taste.

You may miss Miho, but give Fami a chance to have you reminisce about Miho leaving, but not to worry so much about missing her. There have been some band changes where, like you allude to, I will always miss the member who departed. There have been other bands though, where I liked the replacement as much, if not more, than the person that left. In that case, I'll always remember the original member for sure, but it's not as much missing that person because the new member kicks a$$. I liked Sammy Hagar when he took over vocal duties in Van Halen. But I always missed David Lee Roth's voice. I liked Paul Di'Anno as the original Iron Maiden vocalist, but when they recruited Bruce Dickinson, it was sort of like "Paul who?".

LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics: What's the worst way to die? Burning to death, or drowning? Everyone laughs in derision There's no hope at all Why is the world rotting away Howling in pain, they slowly die All of the sorrow is murderous The insanity (Burn up) They're calling me (Burn up) It's do or die (Burn up) Get ready for hell (Bring down justice to the wicked) Don't look away from the mistakes Open your eyes, and see the truth When lightning cracks the blackened sky Listen to the screams of distress It's like a bad dream but it's not No way to get out, a living nightmare Bring down the Hammer of Wrath Who will be the next to burn? God only knows the victim Everyone knows they are innocent All the hope is gone In despair they pass away There was no hope to begin with Even the angels are giving up Looking down on us Will this night ever break dawn (Bring down justice to the wicked) SOLO: midori / mi-ya [miyako] What's the worst way to die? What a combination to react to! Hammer is my personal fave. Midori I believe is the faster technical player, hence her "crazy shredder" tag but there's something about Miyako, just captivates me. She has other similar solos such as in Edge of the World, that just ooze pure soul. Her opening to Above the Black Sea haunts me every single time I hear it. Every new song you hear will become an instant candidate for your new favourite song.. it's what Lovebites do 🤟
@shazariahl
@shazariahl Жыл бұрын
I also love Above The Black Sea. So underrated, but probably because they didn't perform it in any of their big Japanese concerts. Yes there's Wacken, but the sound mixing in their Japan shows are untouchable. The Wacken version is fine by normal standards, but doesn't compete with the other two.
@joelb4530
@joelb4530 Жыл бұрын
@@shazariahl totally agree, the sound is mixed superbly but for me personally, you can’t beat the magic of that festival atmosphere, especially in front of the Wacken crowd. I think Red Sky/Black Sea would be an awesome 2fer reaction. They have a few ‘less popular’ hidden gems that don’t get the attention they perhaps deserve or maybe that’s just my fan bias haha

Break the Wall shows what each guitarist is a tad better at than the other. Midori, the first solo, shredded the hell out of her guitar, that is what she does, then Miyako came in and made her guitar sing with emotion and beauty because that is what she does. This is what makes them among the best guitar duos. They both can shred and play with emotion, just to be clear on that. Love Hammer of Wrath.

You have randomly picked two of my three favorite songs by Lovebites to do a double reaction to. Personally I will never see a better double reaction, ever. "Break the Wall" is probably my favroite pure thrash song. I say probably because I love thrash and have been listening to it since its beginning in the early 80's. Exodus is my favorite pure thrash band, but man can Lovebites deliver. OF course, EXCELLENT reaction/comments. First we have "Break the Wall". This is Slayer, Metallica, Exodus...all wrapped into one and modernized. The riff is SO heavy. I love how Midori started her solo with a very non traditional start. Then she wails. On the second part of her solo, her back bend is iconic to me. Miho's bass line afterwards is so good as a lead in to the slower section. Then Miyako comes in with her Gary Moore inspired emotional solo. That's the main difference between Miyako & Midori, where Miyako is more experimental and adds more feel to her work. Midori on the other hand commands that fretboard and can run up and down it with speed and precision. Then we get to my all time favorite song(s), "The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath". I consider these two songs joined at the hip, as "The Awakening" is such an awesome prelude to "The Hammer of Wrath". Regarding your wish that when they began playing live you wanted them to jump right into the riff. But personally I like the cymbal hits, the slower lead in, and Asami walking in. It's a perfect bridge between the two. "The Hammer of Wrath" is thrash, speed, and more. This riff is phenomenal. When Midori starts the slow part of her solo, you should go back and listen to what Miyako, Haruna, and Miho are doing. It's such a groove!! When Miyako takes over with her insane tapping skills, I just stare. And the outro!! I haven't called it my all time favorite outro yet, as up until I heard this song, my favorite outro is from the song "Deliverance" by Opeth. But this outro gives me chills. To make my life complete (a little extreme), there is one more song, my third favorite, I'd love to see you react to as part of your double reaction, and that's "Winds of Transylvania". Many will always say check out the live version, and as usual they deliver with this song. But the studio version/music video does this song better justice. It's controlled chaos at it's finest. Being that its the opening track to 6 episodes of the anime VLAD LOVE, there are anime clips throughout. I honestly can say I have never heard a song like it in metal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSoZYiYlLWdnpo I'd say the second song to react to along with "Winds of Transylvania" would be "Shadowmaker", and again, I think the music video is great, so why not react to two music videos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKPQoJ-kaqyrq9U

awesome lovebites and miyako: that second solo and then the nod to jon lord from the backtrack in the first song. and then the second thrasher: slayer or early metallica wouldn´t do it any better. lovebites do not stop to impress and never get boring. their live performances are energetic, mesmerizing and phenomenal. and on the albums you can hear the little intricacies and the masterful composing even better. thanks for your fine reaction.

Break The Wall is thrash metal at it's finest! That song, kind of like Dust to Dust by The Warning, is about as close to a perfect song as I've heard. I love how Midori and Miyako have such different soloing styles that compliment each other so well and the transition between the solos was seamless. The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath is how they opened their album Awakening From The Abyss, quite a sick way to begin an album! I can't help but to pump my fist with the crowd during The Awakening. Hammer of Wrath was written by Miho which is why the bass is so prominent in that song.

I am listening metal for more than 25 years now. Love all the classics from 80ies and 90ies but since i discovered Lovebites like 2 years ago i rarely listen to anything else. All other metal bands (no matter the genre) are just not good enough comparing to The Wolfpack. The songs are so composed so smart and creatively by Miyako (and played by her too), singed amazingly by Asami, Haruna is destroying those drumms, Midori shreds like there is no tomorrow, Miho was a beast on bass-Fami is even more bad ass i think (we will see soon). How can any metalhead not love them? Cant wait to hear that new album. Lovebites is METAL, all others are trying but are just not getting on this level. Its so fascinating an unique. These are great choices! Anyone seeing and hearing Lovebites for the first time through this clip will be speechless for about an hour. Haruna's speed groove is and will be the stuff of legend. How she can sustain it through intros and interludes as well as entire verses -- even most of the way through entire songs -- and move seamlessly into a halftime (but still fast!) groove is beyond me. Then she throws in double kicks to boot (I swear I hear triple kicks in "Set the World on Fire")! Oh, and there's this "signature encircling motif"... Yeah, that's the whole of "Awaken"

New sub. here, the 3 "E' songs are always popular and should listened to. Also "Edge of the World" is a must. It takes you on a progression of music from slow bliss to fast fury. Your mind will be blown by the 4'-9" Haruna and her double kicks toward the end. If you really want to know what a musical savante looks and sounds like, view "Swan Song" with the Chopin, pronounced (Show-pan) intro. The intro is a must.

Love it. So, this next 1 is Miyako opening on piano, and a side of Asami you haven't heard yet. Empty Daydream, and you can now start listening to songs you have already heard by them, but with the lyrics. Another you haven't heard yet, Scream for Me.

At last. The first reactor to deduce that it is Lovebites penchant for theatre that they make the encore something more than just 5 people wandering back on stage and saying thank you. You haven’t got the context for “The Awakening”. It opens their first full album release, segueing into Hammer of Wrath. So the Middle Eastern sounding passage between both cymbal claps is essential to the impact of both heavy sections either side of it. As for being your favourite (insert genre here) metal band, it defies belief that any true metal fan hearing Lovebites could not, even if it takes a few songs, promote them to their favourite metal (any genre) band. Me, I took 30 seconds of one song (seriously).

Hi Cheezy! I think that you'll really enjoy this video. It's Miyako from Lovebites playing Gary Moore's "Parisienne Walkways." I consider "Parisienne Walkways" to be one of the most emotional and best guitar solos ever written. I think her version of this song is the only cover I've heard that does the original justice. This video is just her sitting in her home studio playing the song. Hope you like it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIWUmKaeZ7Oorc0

Check out the Lovebites song called Under the Red Sky... the live version in Akasaka. That's the best one and the ending is special too so keep going until the video stops. If you read the lyrics before you watch it you will love the song even more because it is about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in WWII. It's a great song.

You've definitely been "bitten" very hard by the ladies. Don't worry, we've all been bitten, our lives changed forever. Never again will we be content with the stale old boring metal from the past. Lovebites are The Metal Warriors, saving heavy metal from darkness & obscurity! Welcome to the Wolfpack!🐺🤘

Thrash Metal heaven! :) Two of my three favourite songs by Lovebites - and it seems I'm not the only one -, the third one being "Set the World on Fire", which you already know from your first reaction. The main riff of "Break the Wall" strongly reminds me of Testament's "Over the Wall", just listen to the riff starting at about 34 seconds in this clip kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqLPeauMbrWpmcU to hear what I mean. Also, the overall very heavy sound of the live version of "Break the Wall" reminds me of the sound on Testament's "The Legacy" (which was my favourite album in 1987 and is still one of my favourite Thrash Metal albums), but Lovebites have a superior sound and what might be the best guitar duo right now.

I love Lovebites and they're like the best new band discovery of the last 10 years, but the granddaddies and undisputed kings of japanese Metal are Anthem. Naoto Shibata, the bass player and band leader, is the japanese Steve Harris and a Metal god like only a few. Yes, Loudness were there too, paving the ground for all japanese metal acts to follow, but it's Anthem having that crystal clear hi-def Judas Priest like Metal style. Their first album is from 1985 and this is the track Evil One from 2012. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp3YmY2Oi9t4mLc
