Excellent demo. Mason's playing was great and very descriptive about the sounds he achieved with the guitar!

Great demo! Mason Stoops does an amazing job showcasing the guitar. Love that guy. And the Taco Bolt was one of my best impulse buys ever! :D

Mason's demo of the Tele Ultra II is over the top. Wonderful description and examples of what this guitar can do. I love the new features and improvements Fender has made to this series. These guitars are selling for 3 grand in Canada. That's a lot dough. Keep up the great work Fender.

Mason is a swell dude. Knows his way around the guitar. And he looks like a young Wiliam Friedkin. Both knowledgeable and well-spoken individuals in their respective fields. 😎

I currently own an ultra American telecaster and recently tried an ultra ii telecaster at guitar center out of curiosity. It played and sounded very good. I couldn't really tell the difference in the noiseless pickups compared to standard single coils. The guitar overall looked and played nice. I am honestly scratching my head to see what was upgrading from the ultra though? I personally wouldn't trade the beautiful binding on the ultra for the glow in the dark dots or the top carve on the ultra ii... I'm guessing very few people would. The binding is what made the ultra stand out and appear to be more premium over other telecasters. The pickups on the ultra are killer too... I'm not sure which I really liked better... both were great just voiced slightly differently. At the end of the day I'm glad I have an ultra vs ultra ii. I really think the new model is more of a downgrade than an upgrade though it's still a great guitar. But everyone has different taste...

I would have love to have heard this guitar played into the new Bassman Tone Master, without pedals. Or better still, the blonde Deluxe Tone Master played by Duke Levine.

Mixed feelings... pickups sound slightly better than my Ultra, self-lubricating nut is a plus, quarter-sawn maple neck is a plus. Removing the body binding, far less color options (where is Cobra Blue?), still no matching headstock, still no contouring on the front (arm carve), and not at least adapting the augmented D shape from the Ultra Luxe (which is much nicer to play), are negatives. Overall a very minor update - still a very good simple guitar at a rather high price.

I didn't notice the removal of the binding, they looked much better with it. I liked the diagonal toggle switch change.

Small correction: I just saw another video where the guitar was shown more closely and from different angles... It DOES have an arm carve!

How are those noiseless pickups in your ultra? I played one briefly in store and didn't love them but it was hardly the ideal place to really hear them.
@uwedasler4253 ай бұрын
@@ak2112 They are actually quite good unless you absolutely want an area-specific vintage sound. If you really want e.g. the chime of a '54, then just forget it. If you (like the majority, I guess) look for more early 60s sounds, they are not that far away - certainly within what can be eq'd. Yes, they lack a tiny bit of treble, but unless you play a really muddy amp I don't think you will miss it unless you do scientific comparisons to vintage pickups instead of playing :-) That said, from what I have heard the new generation in the Ultra II does definitely seem to be even closer. Also, what I would definitely not recommend is buying an Ultra with the intention to put in vintage pickups. Most of these are staggered and the 14" radius at the neck pickup (and almost 16" at the bridge) will not work well with those (D and G will be too loud and you have to lower the pickups a lot to avoid the magnetic field keeping your strings from ringing out properly). Yes, some companies offer single coils without staggering, but it severely limits your choices. Everything is a compromise and for some applications noiseless IS a valid requirement. But then, a lot of S-type guitars (including some from Fender, like the Player and Performer) ship with noisy pickups that do not sound any better at all and even the first generation of noiseless pickups (which I considered awful) twenty-something years ago were good enough for Clapton 🙂

Hey how is the neck shape different on the Ultra Luxe from this type of neck shape showcased for the AmUltra II? Curious to know, because I do like the feel of the neck on the regular Ultra line

Honestly, i just recently bought this guitar to try it at guitar center thinking I would be taking it back... I can tell you Ive had it 3 days & I will not be taking this guitar back... Ive had nice guitars all my life been playing for 35 years & Have had a custom shop vos 58 but I can honestly say this is the very best guitar Ive had yet... This guitar plays amazing... Not just the pickups but the neck, the tension of the strings.. When I got it I just bought it without playing it since I was taking it home... When I got home the action was high & the D string & the A string were slightly off intonation... I took it right back & had them adjust the action & get the intonation set right... I brought it home and was amazed... This guitar is by far the very best guitar I have ever played by a long shot & Im not exagerating in the slightest... Go play one... Whoever put my strings on didnt stretch the strings & where Im at guitar center dosent set them up b4 they put them on display... Once they are set up its pure Gold.... U have to play one to see for yourself... people are griping about the binding... I prefer a great playing guitar over cosmetics. I dont know if I just got a 1 out of 100 guitars as far as that goes or if they are all great guitars... Mines a ringer & I wouldnt sale it back for 600 bucks more than I gave for it.... Im so impressed... I cant even imagine a custom shop tele playing any better

i dunno man i think fender is keeping up in a decent way product wise. compared to gibson which is gone mad with prices. dunno man. i own a dozen fender and a dozen gibson. .. and so far nowadays I enjoy more Harley Benton... less price more fun... of course we talking budget guitars. i love my custom shops fender and gibsons. but HB in my opinion offers higher value for price. by the way this telly is killer... i love it, just my 2 cents as ex pro-guitar tech, guitar shop and studio recording tech.
