Wandering if a max tow f150 could tow this safely. It’s the 3.5 eco, with the 6.5 foot bed. It also has airbags. The truck says it can but will it be safe?
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd 3 жыл бұрын
Man this is the kind of question that gets the tow police all fired up lol. There's a few add'l specs we'd need on your truck to know with 100% certainty. I can tell you that I've seen people do it and say "man it's great. no problems" and I've seen just as many people say "we tried it but it didn't feel comfortable." And I think *THAT* is the defining factor. Chances are all the numbers/math will indicate a _safe_ pairing but that doesn't mean a _comfortable_ pairing A lot of things like your towing experience and/or where/how often you're towing may become factors. There are also plenty of companies with a similar layout that will come in less weight as well. Though naturally there will be reasons for it like a shorter ceiling or less equipment overall

Yes it can as long as your wdh is set up properly. I know from pulling mine with the same truck (1730lbs payload). Pay attention to payload on door sticker and load accordingly. Always set wdh after you inflate bags. I do not run air bags as after hitch is set the truck is level and trailer has a very minor forward pitch. This trailer with dual ac fiberflight tongue weight came in at 930lbs with propane and battery. When loading trailer you can easily go up to 1100 lbs tongue weight and I would not recommend towing it with the f150 at that point so you really need to load it accordingly. Before each trip after loading I check the tongue weight adjust load if needed to stay under 1k lbs tongue weight.

I've noticed this on other Jayco models, and the placement of the solar charge controller (or prep in this case) in the bedroom seems a bit strange. I know there are space considerations and everything has to end up somewhere, but I think I'd prefer to see it in the main living area. But I'm guessing they do that because it's a straight shot up onto the roof, and less wiring equals less complexity, and also lower cost. I've said this on other videos, but given the choice I'd take the queen over the king and keep the walk around space. But I'm even fine with a camp queen when that's the only option. Heck, I slept in a full bed until I was about 35, as a side sleeper it wasn't a big deal even at 6'4". I do like when manufacturers give us those options though, because everyone camps differently! Kind of a general question here, but you always say that Haylett options the larger AC unit. Is the cost not much higher, or do you feel the larger unit is needed, even in a Michigan camping climate? And yeah I think they did the best they did with the cooker hooker location. Team overshare unite! Always appreciate the time you take to read our comments and answer any questions! Thanks Josh!
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd 3 жыл бұрын
I think your reasoning on the solar controller is probably spot on if I had to guess. They upgraded AC from the factory cost very little. To upgraded after the fact cost about 10 times more literally

@@hallraker79 I'm in the south have this camper upgraded ac 15k and 2nd unit in bedroom. The main ac after fixing the factory defect with a bunch of ac tape cools very well but on hot days (85 and up high humidity) the 2nd unit is definitely needed. As long as you ac tape the divider between intake and output and tape any gaps to duct system the 15k will definitely be efficient in northern climates.

#LETSJAYCO These are both awesome. I prefer the brown on brown personally. I think both fiberglass and aluminum are sharp. Fiberglass is definitely better for us Iowans during the times of the year it hails though. If my money was on the line and I was planning on keeping it for 10-20 years I would want the peace of mind of the fiberglass. There are 2 things I would update here. I would add a pop-up counter extension in the kitchen. Also, I have seen other campers with small camp kitchens where the counter/sink is on slides to come out like a drawer. In its current configuration it is usable but a little inconvenient it seems. Handy tip: Keep that protective cover in the propane cooker hooker when not in use because nobody likes a dirty propanus.

Both are nice looking but u prefer the the fiberglass, and the brown on brown. Lots of solar, the larger propane tanks, the make me happy wall hugging theater seats, and the camp kitchen with the griddle! Even without kids guests can use the bunks instead of dropping the table down. Great idea those swivel tablettes on the theater seats! The DC compressor fridge is always a great thing. The kitch drawers are awesome. So what's not to like? The funky steps on the bed side give me those stable steps there also. And I leave the mates it's got to be good for at least a camping trip or 2 before getting another mattress to plop on top of it or vise versa I like my bed comfy and thick. I'd also put a latch lock on the door of the bedroom.

I would definitely go with the farmhouse decor and love a fiberglass exterior. I live in the Midwest and itbgets its fair share of hail. Love the theater seating and the ability to flip up the lower bunk and use it for storage. I have no kiddos so I see that area as a pet containment zone with the addition of a gate to block the opening. Two large beds plus toys and blankets or a couple of crates could fit in there nicely. The top bunk would be additional storage if I was a full-timer (can you say Costco haul?). Oh and I would worship the standard queen bed. I would replace it with something decent.
