The fact that business confidence is up since June 2021 is not a great cause for celebration.. June 2021 was arguably when the peak of the Covid lockdown impact was being felt .. so obviously, business confidence will be up since then. To manipulate those statistics to sugarcoat the worst cost of living crisis experienced by average Kiwis since 2008 is not only stretching the truth but is grossly irresponsible.

@@1LLU5IVE yep. higher exports = more jobs related to producing products for export, and tax will be collected from these jobs, which is good for the government balance.

Why does the New Zealand government think it's good to use tax revenues and overregulation to run an oversaturation in service sector jobs at a loss, but not run manufacturing and construction at the same loss, when manufacturing and construction are disinflationary and paid idle service sector tasks are inflationary? NZ economy is starting to feel like a job creation program for unmotivated people. New Zealanders are very capable if permitted the resources to do so. The resources are presently in the camps of no and low productivity.
@saregama-r8td3 сағат бұрын
'Paid idle service sector' such as nurses, doctors, teachers, police, legal aid, social workers, ECE teachers, DOC, ministry of social service, education, transport? What makes you think deregulating manufacturing and construction would improve our economic conditions? It just means less union interference and lowly paid jobs which nobody would accept. So to fix that we would either see manufacturers move overseas where there is less regulation which basically means slave wages and no safety measures or high immigration with slave wages. Then you will be moaning that there are too many immigrants taking jobs and buying homes.
@HandleJandelСағат бұрын
You're misrepresenting my point. I’m not criticizing essential roles like nurses or teachers but highlighting inefficiencies in service sector jobs that add little to no value. Resources are wasted on make-work jobs while industries like manufacturing and advanced tooling, which offer high-paying, productive careers and reduce inflation, are ignored. Deregulation isn’t about cutting safety or wages but removing red tape to let domestic industries thrive and create real opportunities, instead of inflating a bloated, unproductive private and public service sector that hasn't been performing for many years.
@HandleJandelСағат бұрын
@@saregama-r8td Govt is constantly propping up idle make-work service jobs and is still failing to convert into real services or productivity, while other sectors get little support addressing tangible shortages everyone complains about. No one’s upset over a lack of interdepartmental emails.

@@saregama-r8td It's hard to say we used all that tax revenue to build an economy. I’m not sure what it is now, but "workplace activities" seems more fitting than "economy"
