Nice reviews, for items actually worn and showing the fits rather just giving all the specs and never showing how it looks really. Found this channel and so far I really like it. Made a few choices based on the reviews and all have been home runs. Thanks!

I purchased the tin cloth mackinaw vest recently before it sold out and had to send it back. It was way to tight for a medium, even a large was tight! Im not sure who wears these things now but they are cut way to small. Went to the store in toronto and got the xl brown and greenish checkered mackinaw vest but it just didnt sit and look right with me so I sent it back and got the large in charcoal. Love it so far.

Would you recommend sizing down for the mackinaw wool vest or true to size?

Nice vest. Planning to buy for this winter down here in Australia. Could I ask what’s chest size in cm if you don’t mind? I’m 103cm and I planing to get size M but not so sure. I will probably just have one layer underneath the vest. Thanks mate.

Thank you for the suggestion. I just looked through every men’s item on there website and was only able to find a few things that were 100% wool. Most are blends of wool and synthetic. I buy wool items for the properties that wool is known for. There for I only buy wool items that are 100% wool. Blends don’t bring the same properties as pure wool. I do appreciate the suggestion tho they do have a few nice items, thank you The mackinaw coat looks like the hand warmer pockets are quite high on the coat which would not be very comfortable in my opinion as well.

Any opinion on sheepskin coats? Nice review!
@wildforwool38214 жыл бұрын
I love my sheepskin coat! They are extremely warm and comfortable one downfall in my opinion could the weight for some people but not a big deal for me personally. Ive worn mine in -30 weather sometimes colder with a t-shirt underneath and have never been cold. I highly recommend if you live in a cold climate area.

Most of your body measurements are a size small according to Filsons guide. Why size up? I’m 5’8” 180 pounds athletic build and I’m a medium on the guide but not sure if I should size up??
@wildforwool38213 жыл бұрын
Medium seams to fit me best in most filson. Shoulders seam to be restricted in most smalls. I feel a medium would probably fit you well unless you need excessive layering

What size do you think would fit best for someone who is 6ft 185lbs?
@wildforwool38214 жыл бұрын
If your 6ft or over Filson recommends getting the long, I cant really recommend a size because all 3 vests fit differently and it depends how you would like them to fit or if you plan on layering with them. With the leather vest you will probably want to go down one to two sizes from your usual size. I went down 2 sizes and still had room because i wanted the fit to be more fitted like the western one. As for the wool vests i just went down one size from my usual size and they fit great. Everyone carries their weight differently so its hard for me to give you an answer. If you take your measurements, compare them to Filson's size chart that should help.

Nice vest. I was thinking about getting one. I like the forest green color and wish it was offered in the wester style version. How the hell did you afford the leather vest?! That thing is so over priced but really nice.

how tall are you? Im 5 foot 7...what size you recommend?
@wildforwool38214 жыл бұрын
I’m 5’9. Id say it depends on your chest and waste size. If it’s at all bigger than mine I’d recommend the medium. If it’s at all smaller than mine I’d recommend the small. I got the small and it fits like a glove and is the perfect length in my opinion. It also depends on how many layers and the thickness of the layers you plan to put under it. If I was going to layer any more Than in the video I would go with a medium.I bought the small because I wanted it to be more fitted like the western vest.

I am not a fan of multi layered fabrics because the care for each is different. I hand wash wool, leather gets wiped down. If any mold issues occur on the other side of the leather you can't get to it to treat it. I prefer different fabric layers be separate. Yes, it is stupid expensive and isn't even American leather. I have found that any rib knit material on my jackets take longer to dry the the jacket body.

Ever since apple raised their prices for their phones to make it seem like they have the best product on the Market, everyone is doing the same with their products. I am not entertaining this Ridiculous prices everyone is throwing out there. you guys keep entertaining those prices and soon your bank account will be broke, you will look nice, but you will be broke. Let's say no to these prices and stop doing it to ourselves. Filson, Stop the bullcrap, you guys are starting to look like a bunch of clowns.
@wildforwool38214 жыл бұрын
I agree they are over priced. Wool and leather are a lot more valuable than synthetics so your never going to get them for the price of the cheap polyesters and crap. I am 100% more willing to pay for an over priced item that is quality that will last a lifetime and has lifetime warranty than I am for an over priced name brand synthetic piece of clothing that won’t last as long has no warranty and doesn’t have the property’s that wool has. But again yes most companies are over priced with everything

Would you recommend sizing down for the mackinaw wool vest or is it true to size?
@wildforwool38213 жыл бұрын
Yes, personally I go one size down In all filson upper garments so far. but it all depends on the fit your going for. I like mine to be a bit more fitted.
@wildforwool38213 жыл бұрын
The mackinaw wool vest will also have a bit more room than the western vest. I got a medium in both and the mackinaw wool vest has more room because of the boxier fit than the western vest has. So yes I do recommend sizing down one size.
