Dear Steffan: Those otocinclus and pygmy corydoras appear right happy, in this, 5.5-gallon tank. I tried keeping otocinclus in a 10-gallon, but felt they weren’t happy, as they tended to startle, easily. I had them in a 29-gallon tank, where they appeared more at home. Currently, I have otocinclus and pygmy corydoras in my, 75-gallon, CO2-injected tank. They appear to be right at home, now. Rather than “cull” cherry shrimp, I’ve found that moving my, best stock, to a new, established set-up tends to improve the line. Three decades of select-breeding fancy guppies has me reticent to allow Endler’s siblings to breed. As guppies have been line-bred for a century, the fry, from siblings tend to have curved spines. This probably isn’t the case with Endler’s, as they haven’t been in the hobby very long. But, I continue to keep siblings separated. This is one reason that I’m moving towards breeding Gabon killifish, rather than Endler’s. I only have eight tanks going, so my ability to breed diverse species is limited. Thank you for sharing this detailed and interesting video, on your, terrific set-up. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar

Thank you for the thoughtful comments (per your usual). I don't have grand plans for these Endlers. I just became fixated on keeping a super small colorful livebearer in a small but well-seasoned tank. These Gold beauties fit the bill!

Dear Steffan: I switched to Endler’s, from fancy guppies, largely because they are sub-tropical. I’m very pleased to have come up with a strain, in which the males have a lovely, blue coloration. I tried to do the same thing with fancy guppies. Although the males developed a fantastic black and blue color pattern; many exhibited some orange, as they aged. These days, I’m more interested in aquascaping than breeding fish. For this reason, I prefer sub-tropical fauna, as plants tend to do better, at room temperature. However, only true Siamese algae eaters deal with blackbeard algae. As they require heated tanks, I continue to struggle, with this obstacle. Thank you, for all you do, for the FishFam Community. Sincerely, Brinegar

@@ejbrinegar You're very welcome! Good luck with fighting BBA. I know how frustrating that can be. I'd say water changes and maximal plants help me in that battle.

I seem to get BBA in tanks in which I feed lots of live, brine shrimp nauplii (like in my, Endler's livebearer, breeding colony). Since only one of my tanks has injected CO2, most of my tanks don't grow plants extremely well. Most tanks have compost, capped with coal slag, so plants do reasonably well. Perhaps more water changes are in order. Thank you, for your assistance. Sincerely, Brinegar

Hey Jen- Super cute and super tiny. Perfect for a small tank like this.

@@LushSaltyAquariums They are so sweet! But are you going to end up with 1 million of them again? Like your red and black ones?
