Here's one for free since you give out so much great info. To straighten line out get a small patch of leather. With the leather in between your fingers with the rough side in the middle, grip the line with the leather and grip it with a little tension. Pull the fishing line through the leather, as you pull it through the leather it generates heat and straightens your line out. No need for warm water. Thanks for all the info you give us.

Great video, as usual. The anchor line hack, we use to call a "Daisy Chain". Used it when I was working as a lifeguard at summer camp. My favorite way to straighten fishing line is to use a section of bicycle tube. You can get em for free from the bike shop. Fly fisherman has the same material sandwiched between two pieces of leather to straighten out tippet line.

The rope hack is called a "foundation chain" in crochet, minus the slipknot at the beginning. Good idea.
@gregscott1429 Жыл бұрын
Straightening your line hack works, but there is another one fly fishermen have been using for years. Take a piece of leather (or I've been known to use good quality shammy), fold it over, pinch it around the line, and pull the line through it. The friction heats it up just enough, when combined with the pressure from pulling it, to make it sort of straight, about like yours did. And you don't need hot water! Keep it up!
@cajunnathan4586 Жыл бұрын
I put my anchor & rope in a 5-gal bucket with a Screw Top Lid. I also store some other things in the bucket with the anchor & rope between fishing trips. The bucket storage helps keep the rope contained and avoids becoming a tripping hazard in my boat

That rod holder can be filled up no matter the rods/reels. In case the rods/reels get too close to each other just shift every other one up/down by a foot or so - that way your reels have enough space. If you have super wide reels you could even do three different heights for even more clearance - you don't need the rods to equally meet the bottom part after all since there is none! :)

If you want to put wet ingredients (canned sweetcorn for instance) in the PVA bag, soak the ingredients in salted water or oil of some sort and the ingredients wont blow a hole in the bag. Over here (Ireland / UK) we can also get PVA mesh bags which sink faster and breakdown fast too !! 😎👍☘️🍺

Oh, and want a hack for the anchor? Skip the cord keeper and focus on adding an eye on the center of the bottom. Shackle your chain here and use zip ties or bailing wire at the top of the shank to fasten the chain to the eye where you'd normally connect the shackle. It may take a couple tries but you find just how strong you need to make that breakaway, its different for every boat and ground tackle. This works for any anchor, a grapple like that or a regular Danforth, even ploughs. Anchor hangs up and the extra strain causes the chain to pop off the shank and the anchor is pulled from the back end, clearing it from pretty much any snag and without bending the shank.

We've all seen bobber stops on wire, yes? How about something like that for beads? Take a paperclip (size depends on size of bead) and needle nose pliers (jeweler ones if you can sneek them out of mamma's crafts box). There are two bends in the clip, one big and one small. Straighten out the paperclip but only the larger, or outer, loop. Thread on your beads leaving a good 1/2" free. Take your pliers and using just the tip, crimp that 1/2" tip in an "S" pattern, making it necessary that you must assist the bead's removal with you fingers. This keeps the bead strip straight and tangle free while still being assured you won't lose more than one if you drop it. Can't wait to hit the water this spring, lol. Oh, and word to the wise, never buy your beads at the tackle shop. Hit the crafts store or even a dedicated bead shop if you live near one. The color, selection, and most importantly, price cannot be beaten by any tackle shop I've ever been to. Date night? He he!
