So long story short Shimano wouldn’t sponsor you and you jumped ship to Daiwa which will. Nothing wrong with that. Who would pass up a chance to get sponsored by a major reel manufacturer? I must admit tho I do miss seeing that Stella screaming drag in your videos. I own a Dogfight as well as a Stella so hopefully we get to see that Dogfight scream too!

Reckless Currents honestly they are both excellent reels. I have not had any issues with either one. Other than the Dogfight having more line capacity (over my 14K Stella), they are very similar in feel and quality. I will say this. Out of all my reels my 10K Gosa has impressed me the most.

I own both the reels 18k Stella and Dogfight. holding Dogfight it feels like a brick not balanced at all. Strong reel no doubt. Stella is heavier than dogfight but feels a lot lighter and smooth as F***k. If I wanted to trash a reel on the rocks then Dogfight.. long casting sessions Stella any day.

Shimano - 10 Year warranty on all there reels (even low/mid/high end reels). Daiwa - 12 Month warranty on all of there reels, except the reels that come with a 5 Year warranty card (which is basically high end only). I've fished/owned both brands for years now, mid and high end and Daiwa just don't last as long as Shimano in the salt, even after the correct servicing and after fishing care. They are incredibly smooth when you first buy them but after a year they do not feel the same at all. Once that 12 months is up you are on your own (depending which model you get). There after sale care is just not up to par with Shimano as well from personal experience. Not bagging you at all Brooksy, who would turn down a sponsorship from one of the top brands but I just had to say my experience as another aussie fisho. Keep up the great content

Mick I’ve had a stradic and a BG for the same time, both $200 and I can say that the BG is as smooth as the day I got it but so too for the stradic. However I am more partial to daiwa

I ordered a daiwa certate. it's not as nice as the reels you have but I love it. I've only ever had shimano so wanted to try one of daiwas higher end reels. Where I live in Washington state they don't sell any spinning reels more expensive than 300 bucks. Just not a big market for them here. If I walk to the river with a stradic guys are always checking it out. No one knows what a daiwa certate is.

The new 2020 Saltiga looks like they have tried there best to replicate a Stella spool without being obvious🤷🏽‍♂️ Stella spools are so much better. Stella for me anyways. Upping there gearing like the new stellas also. Also I'd rather have to crank my drag more to get a smoother ramp up on the drag than ro sudden, just me anyways. Stellas are so much nicer in the hand also. Ive owned both, only my opinion.

Iv'e had a bunch of annoying breakages with daiwa gear, sent it back to have the same part break again quickly. On the other hand my shimano reels and rods have served me way better, literally never breaking one that hasn't given me years of abuse. The Truth is you don't need a stella or a dogfight to land big fish, there are thousands of good reels and rods and there are WAAAAY more brands than daiwa and shimano.
