Every tap of the hammer is just like a spot weld: another step on the road to experience. Keep at it, it’s the only way to get better. You are doing an excellent job on the learning curve.

Ive been in the garage sense i was a early teen, sparks and grinders freaked me out too when I got started. For me I had to jump in with both feet as my dad passed away and he was who was teaching me and doing stuff when I was too scared. Now at almost 40 welding and grinders are second nature so you will get there. A freaked out person makes poor choices like forgetting clamps. In those moments take a deep breath clear your mind and relax. You can do it.

You're doing good...I see You are more confident welding and it shows...and ya... the angle grinder can be a scary little beast but it's one of the most important tools in the shop...just be as careful as You can...They can bite....I know from experience....but You will learn.....just like the welding....better all the time

You can learn it and do it just like anyone else, I don't know how to weld and I don't have a welder, but I wish I was doing what you're doing, I know where I could lay my hands on some parts, (a '40 Ford pickup) but I don't have any money either.

Safety first. Clamps are champs. Hair all tied up and covered. Bar was moving as nothing to support it firmly in place. Please please be extremely cautious and careful with any tools. Especially power tools at that speed. 🇬🇧❤

Good job! Just keep plugging along. More you do the more you progress. Travis wasn't born a perfect welder. And when I was working at the dealership. A mechanic working next to my bay was using a side arm grinder with a cutoff wheel on it, no gloves stubbed the cutoff blade! Then I helped him pick up 3 fingers off the floor. Just saying.😮

Hi from Australia. As others have said always try to clamp your work . I've been fabricating for years and thought just a quick small cut and bang. Trip to hospital for stitches and a tetanus shot. Work safe😊

Clamping is mentioned already. The reason you're uncomfortable with the grinder is because of the weight and the fact that it's too big for your hand. You're not controlling it. You have every reason to doubt this machine. A solution? There are grinders on the market with a so-called 'soft start'. The name says it all. And, did you try an air-powered grinder? These are less heavy (no motor inside), nearly all have a 'soft start' and you can also opt for a smaller machine: with more grip for your hand. And oh, I am from the '70s so to speak. My hair used to be nearly the length of your hair. Please, please, bundle it safely. One day, that bundle will save you a lot of trouble. Don't ask me how I know.

I believe I have used an air grinder before, next time I need to just use that. To big for my hand and body, I totally agree.

Watching you weld; you don’t look very comfortable. You may try sit when welding on your bench. Put less stress on your back

Yep. You can make things a lot easier for yourself. Watch Travis' forearm when he's welding. It rests from his wrist up to his elbow on the welding table, giving him support, balance and comfort. I cannot clearly see how your arm is, but I guess that only your wrist leans on the table. Further: those pink nozzles: there are nozzles for sale with ± 5mm high notches. You can rest them on the metal you're welding for the perfect distance. It will improve your technique dramatically!

It came out fine, but I think you lost about 1/8 inch... (the width of the cut)👴😉🤫
