Glistening was a 1-of in the deck Classic Battles set. You had to buy 3 boxes to get a playset. $55 each in Canada, single card still sells for $35.

This is going to make getting into CC so much easier. It will do most of the leg work for new players. My LGS doesn’t run Blitz events outside of Skirmish season so it’ll be a lot easier for people to rock up and play some games. I only play blitz and am trying to work out a good list to start with CC. I hope that they sell well to begin with. Even if I can’t get my hands on one to start, if they do it could mean an extended print run, or even more precon releases in the future.

Having new cards in the product gives them another way to boost certain heroes that are lacking in the meta and would take forever to boost through Expansion slot. Whenever a hero is on the low end, they could make a CC precon with cards that boosts him to a competitive level.

I get that LSS should need to make a product that's appealing to both entrenched players and new starters. Don't think new/exclusive cards to the set is the way to do it. They could throw in a set of FAB dice instead - temper actual demand by entrenched players but provides something for everyone

It’s always been weird to me that blitz was the format that had precons when cc is the most played and the general player base seems to not be a big fan of it. Regardless, I’m excited to see what these end up looking like

Really good news. The 40 dollar price tag puts it in line with Commander decks and makes me hopeful there will be some good 20+ dollar cards in them which the MTG commander decks do have usually. I really wish they would just reprint Art of War or E Strike for example in one of these but even if they just reprint some good Class specific majestics with value it would be great. James talked in the past how he doesnt think just reprinting these cards would help new players but if you put enough dollar value in these decks say around 80 dollars if u bought all the singles it'll definitely incite both new and existing players.

Target customers and those who actually buy stuff are rarely the same sadly. That said I'm stoked for anyone new getting their hands on this product. It's also not bad for anyone who wants to try a different hero but doesn't have the cards to build that hero. We'll have to wait till we see what decks are introduced before we celebrate too much though.

8:24 I would still get both the blitz and CC variant of the decks just to have them sleeved up in their original state to be able to play any precons against each other and I know I'm not the only one. Also the CC precon being Slightly more expensive but have maybe a few cards of higher rarity, and more reprints, than the blitz deck might make the blitz decks the product for players learning the game but still give the CC precons a place for players that want a playable deck for armories without spending, a lot, on singles. I also know the odd player who refuses to play cards they didn't open or directly trade for - so them getting an entire competitive CC deck together without this would be harder, with how they use a whole lot of even commons or rares from a whole lot of different sets.

Force of Will did a product where they redid the art of the Rulers and released them all as one big box. I hope they do that with Flesh and Blood, being able to get all the current heroes all at once would be awesome

This is awesome news, but I might be wrong since I'm not from the US but that RRP seems stupid high if it's for "newer players". Maybe more for intermediate players trying to take a step forward and have some at least semi-competitive CC decks?

We already were outspoken about the rhinar and dori deck being 40$ priced too high. However, that was 2 decks out of the box. This is 1 deck "aimed for new players". New players are not gonna wanna drop 40$ for a sub par deck. Even if they say its competitive at a local armory level, you drop 40$ for a single deck isnt exactly motivating.

Do you think that the previous Dorinthea and Rhinar decks being blitz and this being CC changes that feeling for a new player? If the decks contain staples like nonfoil CnC or E-Strike, does that help the product? I think there are too many unknowns to criticize or praise the price at the moment.

@DMArmada I mean that would help get them on the right foot. I see these as being equivalent to the challenger decks like in mtg. Powerful out of the box, but they were a single deck. The dual deck in FaB provided a game to play out of the box, same with the UPF box. Maybe it's for a different perspective, but maybe this'll bring back that surge that made players wanting more. I know I'm itching to bring out my viserai and kano decks but no one plays cc around here

Not a single new player will get one of these. Old school players like me and you will grab them up. They are limited so there will be a very small window of time that they would be available. They are not gonna be just sitting on the counter waiting for a new player to show up at a random armory. I'm confused by why you are framing it as if that will ever happen. -- As an Old school player I am still glad these are being released because it is an easy way to play a different hero to change things up.

I just can't see this being conducive to getting new players. The collectors and competitive players are going to scalp them for the "limited" exclusives assuming they contain some. I also feel like being exclusive to established armory GEM stores will maybe temp some MTG players that frequent the shop at best. Why not put them in new stores if they want new players?

Stores that don't carry the game currently or support in store play MIGHT want them, but why start there? Let the stores that run local entry-level events have access to these products to try and onboard new players to their weekly armories.
