I did a run just yet with my ST150. It's a Mountune mp165, so not stock, but still less power (keep in mind that the st182 has overboost and also 200bhp in this.) So still 35bhp less, and non turbo so way less torque. I used dragy GPS so it's quite accurate. "And it crosses the line at 15.3 seconds!" 😲 I was happily surprised! Guess the mk7 and 8 will be quicker to 200kmh, but I don't get why people call the ST150 slow. Standard maybe, but an exhaust and air intake and it keeps up quite well with less power!

My 2019 fiesta st now has 13000 on the clock and I’ve had nothing but trouble! Started to to bog out at mid revs, thought it may have had a blockage in the fuel filter, turns out the injectors were faulty. Back to Ford it went, one day later it was returned, ran fine for a month then, “check engine light” came on and car went into limp mode. Went in for diagnostic and it needed some firm ware installed, got it back the same day ran fine for about a week. Then on my way to work at 6am in the pissing rain there was a massive chuff of white smoke from the exhaust and what sounded like a tub of nails rattling around under the bonnet, the turbo had completely disintegrated. Back to ford it went, 1 week later it was returned, new turbo new seals and a fresh cambelt as the old one had been damaged by the literal explosion of the turbo. So far to this day it has been fine and has behaved itself, but if I didn’t buy it brand new all of the work carried out would have cost me £1200 for the turbo refit, £300 for the cambelt, £150 for the seals, £50 for diagnostics check, £300 for the firm ware update, over £2k worth of repair on a car that is 20 months old! Nice of Ford to quote me for all the work to show me how much it would have cost me had I not brought the thing brand new, dick move. Turns out these 3 cyl lumps are total dog shit on the reliability stakes, its actually an old model of eco-tec that had a very bad longevity and not the latest and greatest 3 cyl turbo you get in the Focus! Cheeky fucks, oh and don’t forget to change your oil every 5k unless you like garage bills that is. This new Fiesta ST is not worth it at all. Avoid like the plague.

If I remember correctly, then the new ST has the Overboost function as well and puts out 215hp with it. While the old one gets 200hp. In addition to that the new ST has launch control, wich gives it an advantage (ecept for the ST200, it gets 215hp as well, so that would be more interesting, and the gear ratio to the axle is a bit shorter than from the ST180). I drive the MK7 ST with 182hp but with the suspension of the ST200. Even on long rides it is comfy but sporty. I like the look of it a lot more than the new one. Especially the Recaro seats and the rear look and feel far better then the new one in my opinion. But I love the exhaust sound of the new ST, fold exhaust! I would honestly rather buy the old one a second time if it isn't too used. Because for this little bit of performance difference I still think that I choose the right car for me. The old one just looks so much more sporty and youthful. (And I like the WRC Versions in looks more as well, but thats besides the topic) I think it doesn't necessarliy matter if it's 3 or 4 Cylinders. Power is Power. It may have less cylinders and 100ccm less but every cylinder has 500ccm compared to 400ccm of the old. The Problem is rather, you get more power out of less. And the more power you take the higher the possibility that the engines shortens it's lifetime. But the new ST ist still quite good, but no car is without fault and it is everybodys own taste that is important. This is my opinion, I hope my english wasn't too bad.
@iR3V3NJARZ6 жыл бұрын
I really hoped that this would be the case, Faster, More economical and a nicer exhaust tone. This car may have grown up in terms of size and may be better economically, but it certainly seems like a lot of fun. I can't wait to test drive one.

I mean it's faster and all (which makes sense because the engine is more powerful) but how does it proof that a 3 cylinder Engine is better than a 4 cyl?
@BensCoffeeRants6 жыл бұрын
They're trying to illustrate that the 3 cylinder Fiesta ST is still faster than the 4 Cylinder Fiesta ST. Even with one less cylinder and 100cc less displacement. In reality I think they're about the same speed. The new 3 cylinder might be more efficient especially coasting on the highway in 2 cylinder mode when the 3rd de-activates. Does it prove that all 3 cylinder cars (how many are there?) are better or worse than 4 cylinder ones? Nope.
@richardhurr316 жыл бұрын
Technically it isn't more powerful as the Mk7 has 197bhp on overboost for 15 seconds.

owned both, will pick the MK8 all day, its stage 1 mapping potential is 260bhp/370nm from SOFTWARE alone, that is stage 2 territory with the MK7 which produces around 250bhp/400nm with full bolt ons (air intake. cat back, intercooler, decat/sports cat), with the MK8 only just starting to receive stage 2 maps with bolts ons looking at around 275bhp/400nm, let that sink in from a 1.5 3 cylinder, oh and take how the MK7 feels to drive and times it by 3. P.S the rear end grows on it, also the aftermarket scene has options to fix fords bubble arse haha.

But when it comes to interior, Ford would have to learn from VAG. Ford would have some catching up to do and that's why I wouldn't buy a Ford. They're not that great inside
@florianj64904 жыл бұрын
@@dom3827 Since we are here at carwow I have searched for the respective reviews (Fiesta/polo). Here's what Matt Watson said. Polo About the interior and the steering wheel: "Volkswagen is very clever. They puts a lot of money and effort to make it feel as posh as possible and it always makes the car, as a result, feel expensive when you're driving it." "In fact the whole interior just has an air of class and quality that you don't get in other small cars." While driving: "The car feels much bigger." "it has the best suspension in it's class but driving is a little bit boring in a good way." And his overall verdict on this car: "Well, I think you can just go ahead and buy the Volkswagen Polo. It is the best small car you can buy!" kzbin.info/www/bejne/hF7ZiWSDftGIgck Fiesta In the Fiesta review Matt doesn't say much about the interior and while driving he said: "then a problem is the steering wheel. Yeah it's kind of like a bit too big and the leather on it feels cheap. It's my only complaint" (10 min17 sec) "this suspension so it's better over bumbs than before, it really is quite comfy for such a small car it's not the comfiest it's not quite as good over bumbs than a Volkswagen Polo but it's still very good." But: "it's still a fun cheeky little car to drive with nice pointy steering and a very agile chassis" "it is fun" But his final verdict: "You can shortlist the Fiesta, it's a really good small car" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmHXoammp7Wqf5o And personally I find the interior outdated. The display of the infotainment system sticks out of the dashboard and a digital cockpit is not available. I like the Fiesta very much especially the Fiesta ST. It's a really nice and cheap driving machine and can compete against some quite bigger hot-hatches. But it is exactly as I have said before. I don't like the the interior very much because it's quite outdated in my opinion. compared to it's competitors. A Peugeot 208, Renault Clio or even a Opel Corsa (Vauxhall in GB) is much more modern inside. At all of them is a digital cockpit available and the displays are better integrated Edit: Matt first reviewed the Fiesta and afterwards the Polo. So he knew the Fiesta quite well as he was tested the Volkswagen.

You can draw much more power from the 4 cyl as well. The 3 cyl is much more upturned than the 4, yet has almost no more room for improvement
