Yep, and I am betting the contracted market for it now that it's not going to be offered in America has something to do with the cost to the Europeans. So Ford will probably sell fewer of them, then decide that even Europeans don't want them (forgetting that they may be asking too much for what they are offering), and then cancel them altogether so they can make yet another Canyonero.

@@formentorvz5 you're right, the i30 is great value for money. But there's a reason why. Hyundai are doing the same thing that so many brands have done before to establish a reputation especially with a halo model. I think that we can safely say that Ford and it's performance division have been there and done that at this stage and so don't feel the need to compete. If the reviewer is going to compare the ST to the GTi in its ability then compare them in price too, just don't expect Ford to cut their prices (undercutting their residual values) just because Hyundai are looking to make a name for themselves.

Anyone know what colour this one is? In Australia there's one called 'Blue Panther' and I'm wondering if this is it. I think it might be 'Blue Metallic'.

Disappointing in my opinion with that screen stuck up like that instead of it being an integral part of the dash like is the case in my zetec s. I think they nicked that idea from Mazda, why? I have always liked the st but that has definitely put me off.

I'm pretty sure that some verbal jockeying with one's local Ford dealership will force that price down - especially if the i30N is also on the shortlist - which it would be on mine. 🙂

Why does it have an electronic handbrake?

If it was 3.5-4.5K cheaper I’d consider it.

@craig mitchell pillred That's what I'm planning, I just find it hard to pay the list price when I can just find an almost new one for 5 grand less. You should check the prices on Mustangs, you get a lot of pretty much full-option ones in Germany for about 32k EUR. Crazy value.

Visit your local ford dealer ;) or use carwow. Ford has really great rebates

Why does ford use an e-diff instead of a mechanical limited slip? Cmon even Hyundai uses a mechanical
@SpeedbirdSix5 жыл бұрын
Both the i30 N Performance and the 2019 Focus ST (petrol) have a proper electronically controlled mechanical limited slip differential. The marketing used by both manufacturers is an e-diff. Its not really anything like the VAG XDS diff mimicking electronics.
@adrianlowe18735 жыл бұрын
J P thanks for that mate! I thought they were still using the old system that just used the brakes to mimic a proper diff 🤙🏻
@BroadbandWatchAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Renault and Honda use mechanical (gear based) limited slip differentials inside the transaxle, Hyundai, VW and Ford use a BorgWarner ”add on" e-diff unit that sits on the engine half shaft which is a electronically actuated plated diff.

I know then why don't they make it 3k cheaper and make the car worse?

Comparing a Focus ST to a Hyundai and saying they should compete on price. Like comparing an Aston to a Renault Sport and saying the same. Badge appeal, design finesse and quality of build are a thing...

Valid points but in reality those forking over their hard earned money, being a savy shopper, will compare this to others for value-per-coin
@raffiefoxmew36915 жыл бұрын
Cars like this are purchases from the heart, not logical. If you want to tell your mates at the pub what new sporty car you bought, 'a new Ford ST' has pedigree, 'a Hyundai' sounds like a milk float.
@pb78705 жыл бұрын
I think if you sit in both cars you’ll actually be surprised how close they are in terms of build quality. Ford has never had brilliant build quality and Hyundai’s feel slightly more solid in my opinion. Neither have the same quality as a Golf and are closely matched.

@@pb7870 I've owned two Fords and they have both been rock solid. Same as my partner's Ford. My current 2015 Focus ST, which I've had for over 3 years, has never missed a beat.

Fluragon I was referring more to perceived quality such as interior materials. Fords are reliable if looked after and definitely don’t have as many problems as other brands

Obviously, Ford Focus ST 2020. is well put together and guaranteed to cause a smile on driver's face. But that steering wheel is so unimaginative and so un-sporty !?!

Will love to have the new Focus family in my country. Sadly Ford thinks that we only like Suv's in here. Ok. They have very nice Suv's but getting rid of the cars linups like Fiesta or Focus. Mmmmm. I know that the Uruguayan market is too small. But they dont't even sell the Ka like in Brasil or Argentina. Now if you want a Ford here you have to be able to pay about 23500 dolars for an EcoSport wich is still competitive. But no more Fiestas is a bad idea for me. The Focus ST looks as cool as the Fiesta. Will love to drive one.
