@@zdengvox I drove the 125hp fiesta and didn't like it. Maybe it was because of the test-drive-car and people drove it badly. but what I didn't like: the sixth gear is for decoration and doesn't accelerate at all. it needs over 2k rpm to drive without a noisy vibration from the engine, so your economie will be disgusting (we drove around 7l/100km ~ 33mpg) For 125hp it isn't punchy at all. Like my 200kg heavier seat leon with 110hp will outperform it by multiple seconds from 0-60mph (or at least, it felt like that). Like I said, maybe we got a bad-driven car... or maybe another engine will fix most of it. The stearing was ok. there are too many buttons. Like... WAY too many buttons. The first two months I can imagine you can't use anything while driving, because you have to search too long. There are also a lot of plus for the options you can get... but I found most of the car halfbaked.

I was a bit shocked how good the Focus is and how good the 125 BHP Ecoboost engine is. I have been driving like Miss Daisey most of the time as the government tax on fuel only allows me to claim £0.13 per mile and I've averaged 50mpg on the trip computer. However the trip computer is around 3MPG over optimistic. The handling is sublime in corners, it sticks like shit to a blanket. If they did a PHEV version I'd buy one. I love my 2014 Focus and really bummed Ford is giving up on cars here in the US
@danielleroux64905 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 100% Let's all do our part to contact Ford Customer Service and tell them we want the Focus to return to America. If we all contact them, they'll wake up and listen to their customers. Thanks for your help in this effort

The best car in its class! Great review, but the boot can be optioned with a false floor, and there are padded knee rests on other trim levels.

Interesting and entertaining video as always. But I've recently driven a New Focus ST, mainly in town at legal speeds, and sat in the back too. And I found the ride much too firm and jarring over poor surfaces, and small bump absorption was not good! It had nice steering and might flow better on fast open roads, but how often do you get to do that? Normally I agree with Mat and his comments on ride - but am strangely at odds here!

You must mean a Fiesta ST. The new Focus ST isn't out yet

+Fezza - well spotted, correct. Sorry, yes I meant a New Focus ST-Line, like the car Mat was driving...

but you can turn off the lane departure system, Mat... there is a button on the indicator stalk to turn it off or on

you can turn off lane departure by pressing the button on your blinker stock/handle or whatever its called

@12:14, yes you can turn them both off. Press the button on the left stalk in, just under the temperature gauge in the shot at 12:14. It's irritating, so I always have it off.

just got my focus st line. i love it i hope it makes me happy yea. turbo 1.5.

I have the 2019 st-line and the reason they never show the active steering for avoiding the pedestrians is because the st-line version doesnt have it due to the front bumper not having the proper sensors. Also alert for the lane departure is not a beep but the steering wheel starts to vibrate. Its really cool and you would have no reason to turn it off.

Can't wait to get the actual ST 😍😍 hope it's a good first car 😅

S What attracted me to it, is that it seems Ford had taken some of other iconic hatch car designs and made their own spin on it. Look at the 2019 1 series BMW and the A class Mercedes and i think it’s almost like a hybrid of the two cars. I personally love it although i like the old focus, this is just my type down to a T. The only bad thing is you’re no longer saving a great deal, so if you wanted to go the extra for the better branded cars it wouldn’t be a massive jump i think. It’s only good if you wanted that specific car and not just opting for it because it’s a fraction of cheaper option then the car you actually would want.

Hard isn't the same as brittle and soft isn't the same as quality! It's entirely possible to have cheap easily worn soft plastics and expensive strong and durable hard plastic!

I do love the focus but if buying it for long term use bare in mind when it becomes time to change the Cam belt it will set you back £1500 because on eco boost engines it's built into the engine

Why mat is always hiding the carwow score with his finger?
@finleypdoherty6 жыл бұрын
so it doesn't give away the verdict for the end of the video
@Nicoztrike6 жыл бұрын
Because his verdict is last in the video i think :) he also hides wich dealer that made the offer on the cars. Wich also makes sense

because he shows 2017 ford edge :-)

It’s just to hide the name of the dealer who made him the offer, so Carwow are not seen to be promoting a particular dealership.

You know what would be interesting, comparing this 2019 ford focus to the Mk1 from the 90s....
@MrMijaghi3 жыл бұрын
The lane assist isn't active when you start the car by default. You can turn it on whenever you like by a steering wheel switch...... A little bit late to mention this info....but some people are watching this video to have an idea about this car.

@NyashaM6 жыл бұрын
it's not a shame, other cars have caught up.
@xIcarus2276 жыл бұрын
It kinda does actually, it's the first mainstream car with a HUD as an option and it reinforces the full LED headlights trend started by Seat I think. LED headlights seem like a really good thing to have. On the other hand it continues to do the things which Focus did well, like having heated windscreen as standard (except on the base model) as well as rear independent suspension (although it's a bit disappointing that it's only for the higher powered versions. Few things will compare to the MK1 though.

@@xIcarus227 it doesn't have them as standard like other cars in its class . Even the ceed has them . Still Fords in big trouble , because of Hyundai Kia . I reckon give it a year and VW will have taken them over .
