Such a good song. It’s really neat to see how you played the verses.
@CyrusBolooki3 жыл бұрын
I agree, the verse beats are pretty cool, and I have to give some credit to Neal Avron (who produced this album) and the other guys, because if I remember correctly it was one (or more) of them that pushed me to find more than one way to play the verse, which is why you hear two different rhythms in the first/second halves of the verses respectively.

So awesome!!!! Love it! Wish ya still had the foot cam...
@CyrusBolooki3 жыл бұрын
I only have 2 cameras, so if I go back to the foot cam, I'll lose on of these angles and the videos will be from the side/over the shoulder again. Might go back to that depending on what I feel like posting, but I'm also trying to consciously pick songs/shows where I also have the audio multi-tracked so that it sounds way better when I post them. But I'll try...thanks for the compliments!

Is this your monitor mix?
@backtoemocovers3 жыл бұрын
Can you listen to the crowd on your in-ear monitors? If so, are always microphones pointing to the crowd at in every venue?
@CyrusBolooki3 жыл бұрын
I do have the crowds in my in-ear mixes. We usually have at least one (if not two) mics on the front of the stage pointed at the crowd...best is one on either side of the stage, because then they can be panned hard left and right to allow for it to sound "realistic" in the in-ears. One thing I do have to be careful of, though, is that during soundcheck it always sounds amazing in my in-ears, and a lot of times I pump the crowds up in my mix, because you're basically listening to natural reverb (echo) in your mix, since those mics are just picking up the sound of the PA blasting in an empty room. If I forget to change it before the show, however, I'll walk out and literally be able to hear individual conversations (or worse) as we're about to play because those microphones are sensitive and there could be people only a few feet away where there were none earlier in the night. I've been caught off-guard that way a few times, and, boy, is it weird! But, in general, I do like having the crowd in my mix because it takes the separation away a little from wearing in-ears, because without the crowds, and since the in-ears also function as earplugs, you can definitely feel isolated.

When you guys wrote this, did you know it was a hit off the bat?
@CyrusBolooki3 жыл бұрын
No, I don't think so. Same with "My Friends Over You." We were just stoked on the songs for that album in general, as it had been 2 years since we had written stuff and we were fresh off of a supporting slot for Blink-182 playing in front of 25,000 a night and a huge, sold out headlining tour, so there was a lot of momentum and good vibes while we were in the process of writing and recording those songs.
