It should be noted, you can do an incremental counter system, as long as you require a key to access it, which can be something as simple as the original title of the video. Many websites do this, where the url path will start with the ID number but have a slash after it that requires the title. So unlisted videos are safe, but you don't have to worry about ID collisions.

But is extremelly easy to just use UUID, which uses time to garantee uniqueness. Most DB's already has the algorithm or if not, you can just add into the DB or generate by code. Usually is an one line of code change.

It does help that you really knows how Base64, Hexadecimals, and other things important to this subject, so you can talk about it in normal way, in one take. It also helps you remembering the numbers of, or even making up the calculation of the KZbin URL probability correctly as you speak.
