New French Door Pan System

Another similar vid suggested never screwing the bottom frame plate to the floor as you make a hole in the flashing you so carefully installed, negating its waterproofing. Despite your lines of sealant you have a bridged seal and thus water could wick under the bottom plate and up through the screw holes.

I would agree. The weight of the door, along with other fasteners make screwing through the sill unnecessary. Big risk you do not want to take. All the best! Gene

We usually attach a strap to the back of the sill and anchor it to the subfloor. This usually requires the strap to be mechanically fastened to the downturn leg of the sill. We will actually put a metal sill pan and screw through it. We pump some s100 termination sealant into the screw hole before tightening the screws.

Gene. What could I do for waterproofing if the door has already been hung. Just had my doors hung yesterday. I wish I would have watched this video before I had them hung.

If you have a deck connected to your house using a ledger board. CHECK IT TO SEE IF IT HAS BEEN DONE CORRECTLY. I HAVE REPAIRED MAYBE 5 or 600 because it is so common that it's done wrong and rots your ledger board and rim joist out.

What's going to keep the water from going under the floor and rotting the wood. also ever state I worked in requires pressure treated lumber when contact with concrete.

This is a mock up assembly to demonstrate flashing products. Lumber required is not discussed or suggested. The flashing and sealant are designed to keep water away from the wood floor. Application of additional sealant is always a good idea and could be used under the corners if your area expects to be especially wet. Good luck to you. - Gene
