Like your charecter wakes up at the start of the game knowing what going to happen so he tries to stop like character deaths or the genocide of a town. Or maybe kill that guy who going to betray you later and see how the plot splits apart.

Some times, New Game+ is just to add more to the replay value. If you don't wanna play the game again after finishing, you don't have to. It's just for, if you want to play again.

You want to know what game series OWNS the idea of New Game + without ever using the terminology? Disgaea. You beat the story mode, and that is literally just the tip of the iceberg. Roughly 90% of the game's content waits to be discovered after the story is completed. This includes alternate endings, secret bosses, stronger enemies, tons of new levels, weapons, and item and more. Those games are treasure chests that just keep on giving. You can sink hundreds of hours into each individual game and still not get 100% completion because they're fun and addictive. If you haven't played or heard of them, check them out. They're awesome.

tell me about it....i spent well over 500 hours on the PSP versions of Disgaea and Disgaea 2 getting everything....man. Side Note: I personally think the Disgaea series works better as portable games than as console games. the sheer amount of time and effort you have to put into getting everything is daunting....with portable systems, you can play it on the go, whenever you have a break, while you're watching TV, before bed, etc, while the console, you have to take time out of your day to sit there and do nothing but play the game cuz it don't let you off easy and thus, progress is slower....plus with portables, you can put your system into sleep mode and effectively "save" anywhere without really losing anything whereas with the console versions, unless you wanna leave your system running at all times (risking overheating it or something) and not use that specific TV ever, you have to take the time to get out of an item world, say, and go save before finishing.

Dark Souls is an awesome NG+The inclusion of Gravelord phantoms. more souls, and the ability to get Gwyn's equipment or Sunlight spear. Beat O&S in a different way to obtain different armor. Join a different Covenant or hell Try collecting all weapons or obtaining weapons from bosses you kill.

Hopefully the abilty to invite friends into your game is added. I dont really care that much for it but my friends won't play it becouse its to hard when I can beat it in three days. Even when I enjoyed every minute of it even parts that sucked I do get bored after awhile, so the only reason I think it would be added is to just enjoy the game with my friends. I like new game plus for the Tales series cause you can do additional side-quest and optional boss battles you couldn't do in the first playtrough also the Tales series has the grade system that as you battle you earn points to be spent to alter new game plus to make it tougher

Chrono Cross arguably did it even better than its predecessor (mentioned a while back) - the extra endings don't seem to be as popular; but it allowed you to pick up chars that you missed previously (and you WILL miss chars since you're not -allowed- to get every char on a single run) and bring up any that you didn't get on the current run.

Exactly what I was thinking of. The only positives I could really think of is that you can go through and get one-time gear multiple times to become so overpowered nothing can hurt you.... Three Gunners + critical health + catnip accessory = instant death to EVERYTHING.

I liked Chrono Trigger's New Game Plus because you keep your levels and equipment. It's so fun to overpower bosses that once gave you trouble. It's not the hardest RPG, but it's so fun. Let's not forget about the endings.

the original kid icarus on the nes had a NGP that not only let you retain what you collected, but previously empty rooms now had stuff in them. unfortionatly this isn't in the 3d classics version.

Well in a new game + i would want to there to be something like tons of extra scenes to provide insight into why characters did what they did during the story. Or add a prologue to the game where you play as the villain and see why they are doing what they're doing. Another thing would be an entirely new campaign played through the perspective of the villain. Now that I'm rereading it that should be like a separate thing altogether but yea I'm just throwing up thoughts. A secret post final boss dungeon would be interesting. Alter the ending to have he boss escape into some realm where he takes control of your party members and you have to fight them 1v1 to get them back but at half health an old boss appears and buffs your party member so now you gotta fight them PLUS the boss so it becomes some pair do boss rush mode. And during the fight party member starts throwing out dialogue about your in game decisions and how they supported/rejected them. Just thoughts.

I recall years ago playing some PC game that "New game +" was the same at first, till you met everyone who was going to be in your party. Then something happened, leading you on a different storyline, which granted was not as long as the first play through, but I was satisfied! I really wish I could remember what it was... The games probably 15 years old now.

Yeah, Basically. However the games can pass keys to other games. So It's possible to get the Challenge Key on White 2, and the Easy Key on Black 2, as long as you know somebody with the other game. This also allows you to change White Forest/Black City with the opposite game, along with a means to getting Registeel/Regice.

Ratchet and Clank Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal got it right by both increasing the difficulty and allowing you to upgrade weapons past where you could only playing on normal difficulty after beating the game.

Does Ocarina of Time 3D Master Quest count? dungeons rearranged, enemies do twice damage, entire game mirrored and Sheikah stones are gone. I did find it new for the most part as it was harder and made me think more.

Also the Last Story's New Game Plus was lazy. All it added was more upgrades which made it easier and the massive enemies are more powerful than you. the level cap is 99 but by the end of the game you are around 70. How about the world is mirrored (Makes it trippy as f*ck), difficulty spike, could do without, increase level cap, more backstory on characters (Yurick's travel with his mother more specifically) more weapons and game play options and maybe a two player co-op.

MGS4 reminded me of New Game Plus. But you were able to keep buying stuff that was so expensive you could not buy it the first play through and exclusive weapons only unlocked after the special achievement play throughs, and play it on a harder difficulty to unlock even more stuff, but even after all the skins and the weapons, downloadable music, downloadable skins, all free of cost, it was the same thing over and over again. BUT it had so much content, and an incredible online system. WIN!

Agreed. But I did like the way NG+ was handled in Dark Souls. The fact that enemies were made more difficult, you could collect items only available once per playthrough, etc. In my opinion this opened up more options in how to play the game. You could go through Undead Asylum using a bow, fight bosses using magic abilities that were not available at that point in NG+0 and try out different tactics in general allowing you to experiment in ways that previously weren't possible.

Despite being a mediocre game, Shadow The Hedgehog has excellent New Game Plus. There are 10 endings and many branching paths and choices at every level, and for each ending you get a new weapon for the next playthrough. Get all endings and you unlock a bonus scenario and earn the true ending, and if you complete all levels with a high enough score you can replay all the game on a new harder difficulty level.

I usually don't have an issue with it, I mean I don't like or use the feature at all like 80% of the time. As long as it's an optional feature it's not really a bit deal to me but I'm on the last boss of a game I'm really into and I don't want to finish it because I know that I will actually FORCE me automatically to start over right away to play through two new new game plus playthroughs only for two trophies, screw that.

Wanna know what's real bullshit? I can't even play New Game + on Arkham City because my profile is set on easy, and you can't play New Game + on easy, it has to be normal or hard. But there's a trophy for completing New Game +, as well as Riddler's Revenge and everything. So, after working so hard on Riddler's Revenge and everything in story mode, I have to do it ALL over again on a new profile set to normal.

I think all games with some kinda story mode should have new game plus, with at least one or two new game plus only exclusive areas for replayability. But they should all do it like Tales Of, where you pick and choose what to carry over. I don't like that Xenoblade forced me to keep my endgame level. Also, Devil May Cry 4 and Nier are great examples of a game with a great New game +. DMC4 unlocks new difficulty modes and artwork, and Nier actually expands the story through an additional two play throughs. We need more games like that.

The only game I have ever encountered, with New game +, is Dark Souls, and I have no problem with it, at all. This is a game where it really fits. There is so many secrets, and items ect. that on the first play-through, gets left behind, and getting to use your character again, is a great idea. Not only would it get tedious, going through all the little items you find on your way, but it is a wonderful way to discover what those items are for.

I think it's mainly the publishers that pull these kind of stunts. They don't want to lose any money so make the developers rush out the game as quick as possible. It would be nice if, as an example, the second time through the game, you get to travel to areas you couldn't before, or perhaps even an alternate/real ending to the game?

Just as a reference. A lot of games for PS3 are on Single Layer Blu-Ray discs, which have 25 GB of storage. Most games use 7-8 GB, and that's all. So, it could a FUCK-TON of extra content.

I take it that King's Quest 5 is pretty easy. But when we play Demon's Souls and Dark Souls more than once, the game becomes easier (if we start a new game each time) because we know what is coming and know what to do.

Legend of Zelda 1 did this well with the 2nd Quest, Resident Evil: Director's Cut with the Arrange Mode did it well and Resident Evil 2 with their Scenario B did it slightly different from the original which worked well with the game's set up. Other than these 3 games I can't think of any others, I guess Resident Evil 3 also does it with the Branched decisions during certain parts of the game. P.S. Since you mentioned it, a Mortal Kombat game that allows you to unlock new fatalities and special moves would be awesome.
