Couldn't have said it better myself though I tried. This is exactly why I watch every HCG video and binged the New Game Stuff series along with loads of other videos on the channel. It's just comfort food for my mind during these stressful times. Even if I already know the games I just like seeing someone excited and enthusiastic about not just memories but new things happening in the gaming world. While I'm aware of many terrible things going on in the world I made a decision in 2020 to watch more gaming news and pay less attention to the terrible headlines of the real world. It's not that I ignore the real world issues but I can only handle so much before it starts to have a negative impact on my mental health. These days I watch more videos talking about games than actually playing games.

Dolphin Blue is sweet! So the history of it, when the Dreamcast went under another company bought the hardware and made an arcade machine out of it called the Atomiswave. A number of games were released for it including KoF11, NeoGeo Battle Colosseum, Metal Slug 6, and Dolphin Blue. But the cool thing is that since the Atomiswave is just a Dreamcast, all the Atomiswave games can be converted to play on a Dreamcast, and that's what someone did with all the Atomiswave games. They work best when played through an ODE like the MODE, but I think they all work in cd format, but don't quote me on that

There's a ritualistic element to listening to vinyl records, I starting really getting into music around the time Napster started, and listening to music this way, you'd often listen to a minute or 2 of the track, then switch to the next, when vinyl records, you take the time to listen to the full experience. Also, if there's music you've listened to death, its always interesting hearing it slightly different on records.

Love the Turbografx 16! When the Turbografx 16 Mini finally came out here in Europe after delays I had a blast unboxing it, hooking it up and staring at the menus and all the little details. I made sure to have the weekend dedicated to the machine so I played and beat for the first time Splatterhouse, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Bomberman 93 & 94, Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire, and Bonk 1 & 2. Last year I hooked it up just because I had the urge to play Ys Book I & II for a bit and ended up Playing through both Neutopia games for the first time.

- Essay Alert - TLDR: I love this channel. Thank you. Always love these new game stuff videos. The longer the better. I'd love to see one go on for an hour. Not only is there a lot of nostalgia but it's exciting to see old & new games I never heard of and to see the games you like and what connects you to them. I like the extra stuff like the vinyls and D&D discussions peppered in the videos along with all the games. Anyways I've watched every video in this series and almost every video on your channel in the last few years and it's one of my favorite places. While I know you're connected to the gaming community on KZbin I see that you have your own view on things that is just authentic, not necessarily going against popular opinion or with it, just sharing your own experience and perspectives. Overall seeing your continued enthusiasm through the years in talking about games and bringing in your memories over the years is something I can strongly resonate with and find some comfort in being 33 years old and feeling like a bit of a dinosaur in the internet age. There's a small handful of gaming channels I watch every video I see from and you are at the top of that list. If I would make any request/suggestion it would be to make a long video on New Game Stuff or to try a one off video fusing New Game Stuff, Game Reviews/Retrospectives, and other gaming topics into one big video like a video podcast. In any case I'll keep on watching. Thanks for the work you do making these videos.

Dolphin Blue was on the short-lived Atomiswave arcade system, which I believe was Dreamcast-based hardware (much like the Sega Naomi). This explains how it is able to be played on a Dreamcast. Metal Slug 6 was also originally released on the Atomiswave after the Neo Geo ended in 2004.

Dolphin Blue is an arcade game that ran on the Atomiwave, which itself was based on the Dreamcast. It has never been officially released on the console because the console was already discontinued. And this is not technically a port since the Atomiswave was actually a Dreamcast running on Arcades.

I love dolphin blue! I remember as I started collecting for the atomiswave(the original arcade hardware) I remember this game eluded for some time. It wasn't until some time afterwards that I was able to obtain a nice clean cart and bring over to friend's houses and play it. My friends and I would just be gushing over how fun it was, but it was also not so easy due to some of the dodge mechanics and the timing of some of the boss attacks. Its metal slug meets ecco the dolphin and its great. The only downside is that it lags/runs slow during heavy moments of multiple enemies, but overall good fun~

I always like seeing what you show. I got into King of Fighters a bit later, but I really love what SNK was doing around KOF '97 and '98. KOF '97 really grabbed me when I saw it in an arcade. It was right next to a Street Fighter 3, but it was SNK's sprites and character designs that mesmerized me. I was happy to be able to pick up an inexpensive MVS cart of it for the sentimentality of it. I also love Shadow Dancer on Genesis. It's an easy game to pick up and play and nice to have an arcade-style Shinobi. I like the home version more than the arcade, which I did play back in the day. I've been aware of Dolphin Blue for quite a while and am preparing to play it soon after being reminded of the Dreamcast conversions someone did a bit over a year ago I believe. It was for Sammy's Atomiswave arcade platform which was a Dreamcast internally, but it used carts. Dolphin Blue is one of the stand-out games for me of the Atomiswave library after sampling some games. Another one of those stand outs is Fist of the North Star, a one-on-one fighter by Arc System Works with their signature high-res sprites. It's a stunning game in its presentation. It's one you should check out if you haven't. There's also an official PS2 port from back in the day, but I have heard the Atomiswave/Dreamcast version is a bit better. Akira is a great film. I saw it a few times in the '90s when it was on TV. I remember it being somewhat of a big deal when they first started showing it on the Sci Fi Channel. It was amazing to see. I'm not ashamed to say that it confused me back in those days. It has a reputation for that. I realized I had not seen it in ages, so I picked it up on blu ray/DVD several years ago and it was an amazing experience for me. Really, it was excellent, and wasn't near as confusing as I expected, though I can see why it did confuse me and so many others. Unfortunately, I have heard some say that the 4K version has some issues. I hope that doesn't bother you. I'm personally quite happy with the excellent DVD/BD(both look great) version and I kind of resent 4K as a thing. If the 4K disc was messed up, the previous edition would be the one to get as that was well received. But I hope the 4K version lives up to your expectations on the technical side. Finally, I'm still hoping to hear you talk about another retro release that should be interesting to you. That is Westone's previously-unreleased arcade game Clockwork Aquario which was recently released after a long journey to restoration. I haven't gotten to play it as I don't have the systems on which they released it. I am hoping for a PC version. Cheers!
