I've seen so many one-shots of Cyberpunk Red and this is by far my favorite. It's bittersweet because I'm so excited for this game and these characters but they said they're only running this a few weeks, but I'm already in love with everything about this!

Cyberpunk 2020 had phenomenally realistic combat. I played a solo in our first session. Got in to a fight. Got shot. Died. 10/10 would die again.

The same thing happened to one of my players in an online game I ran for a little bit. Dude never played CP before, was a Rockerboy. Decided to be belligerent towards the entire Forlorn Hope, challenging everyone in the place to a old-timey duel. Immediately got headshot and died.

One says "I pull my gun and aim it at him" The other guy replied in kind so I make them roll Initiative and we see it thru to last man standing got the car. Cyberpunk is ruthless and D&D players are usually unprepared

I have only seen this and the Vampire the Masquerade group, but I LOVE Skid's penchant for getting in costume. It really bolsters my confidences as an amateur cosplayer, and reminds me that fun and thoughtfulness is what's most important. All the cast's characters are AMAZING and I love this.

I think a crucial part of understanding the Cyberpunk setting is to realize that America is a third world country. Despite the fact that technology is so advanced and some corpos hold obscene wealth- most Americans are unskilled, uneducated and homeless.

I love character creation. Over the years I've probably generated ("rolled up") 25 to 50 characters for every character I played. No matter the system, there are always two questions: 1) what is an interesting character? and 2) what makes a viable character. The former has everything to do with flavor and whom you are playing with. The latter has everything to do with the system and what the game runner emphasizes.

So i know im goin back to old tent. Tonight i had a fresh game that i have never hosted. I was struggling for how i would play the many characters. In the haze of improptu, troy came to me and truly inspired me in so many ways. I should also say skids terrible Australian voice character came out and was somehow, by far, the most beloved voice of any character of the entire event, so skid, thank you for being yourself and inspiring me. At 1:23:19 (who are some of your other clients), Joe's roll of 4 that he said didn't match the table displayed on the screen (Secret partner who might be an AI. Might.) Joe said "local solos or other combat types who use you to keep their personal systems secure." I think the wrong table was shown.

Joe: If I caught some of those character elements correctly in the creation tables (e.g. Hacktivist, reclaimer, in it for the money, doesn't like anyone) I had an idea you are free to use. A reclaimer background Netrunner with a hacktivist bent might try to protect the reclaimed territory from their past by hunting down and deleting/altering all maps and references to the secluded location that group settled in. This could even make sense as a side mission to their personal drive to make money. They might hate many of the folks from back home, whether from personal differences or bad history, yet still want the settlement to be safe on principle. They might hate all city/corp folk by default because they were raised to hate them and see them as those who forced the family to leave society. Maybe your character is drawn to the tech and the networks, reveling in the world apart (e.g. code, AR) and seeing money and coding skill as the best tools to realize your own dreams. Perhaps you are trying to recreate/redeem modern society to make up for the evils that drove your family to the wastes. Perhaps, instead, you want to burn it all down and create something new of your own devising. No matter where you go with your concept have fun with it :)

Fantastic episode, looking forward to this series, it's the best Cyberpunk Red playthrough I've seen yet (and indeed among to top of any rpg)> Francis having low empathy score sort of still fits the character. Empathy isn't a mark of how good or bad a person you are, just how much you 'get' people. You can be super evil and have a very high empathy score, in fact, being manipulative requires it. Similarly, you can have a very low score and be easy going. It fits with the shy personality. He can still like most people and want to get on, but doesn't quite understand them (you could even argue this helps!)
