Great work. Make sure you seal the new concrete once it’s dry. Maybe just get a small pump to empty the bucket into the road drain weekly. Then pull up the bucket and give it a thorough clean once every 4-6 weeks.

Your garage upgrade could not be stressless I guess but it definitely looks like a professionnal detailing working place now. The "trilights" screw into a standard light socket, but the tubes need to be tied in to your electrical run to the socket and there is a maximum number of tubes that can be run in each direction. They aren't exactly quick and easy "plug and play". Text me with any questions.

Nice!! Congrats on your rebuild, looks great! Really looking forward to your next video with additional info about the drain system, what capacity it holds, how many car washes untill it’s full, how you are going to drain it and where you are going to put it after with sand and other gunk in the bottom of the basin. We have the same problem in Lithuania, where you are not allowed to wash your car in your own home, or you have to set up oil and sand cach filters, or something similar to your system.

@@ctsvmapper A permit would be required if I were to tie this drainage system into the city sewer system. I don’t know this for sure, but from what others have told me the City is now reluctant to approve garage drains and/or could require a separator system to prevent oil and other toxins from getting in the system. At any rate, I wasn’t willing or financially able to entertain that option.

I am really curious about how often it will be necessary to get water out of the catch base in the drain. Especially with the swisstrax on top of it seems like a lot of work. Water standing in there will it freeze as well? I need a special video just on this drain lol

Yeah, water won't freeze since my garage never dips below 14 degrees C. I think the drainage system will require emptying a few times per winter. It will depend on how much snow and ice get dragged into the garage and how much washing I will be doing. The next video will explain how it all functions, I just need some time to experiment with it all.

Thanks for the nice comment. All the components were sourced and installed by a local concrete company called “Concrete Innovations”. I do not have the exact specifications of the components. The catch basin can hold up to 30 gallons before it starts to overflow. Where are you located?

Oh man, I wish I would have bought more of those when I had the chance. I don't think you can get them anywhere any longer. They were soooo cheap too. Very nice rolling cabinet with two drawers. It's by Craftsman, but I think it is now extinct.

Yes, I was very fortunate to find out the slab has a perfect pitch to the front corner of the garage where the basin was located. This ensures the water always runs in a single direction and doesn't spread out all throughout the garage. I lucked out in that regard, big time.

No. We had to tap into the light socket wiring in order to power the strings of strip lights. It would have been amazing if the trilights were able to power the tubes.

1. The Thule Convoy is being mounted on Rhino Rack wall hangers. I tried to find an Amazon link but couldn't 2. The Swisstrax floor has worked out well. It is a 1" depression and the tiles are 16" so it's not a huge deal. There's a bit of "bounce" when you walk directly over the channel drain, but the car goes in and out with absolutely no issue.

Yes, I bought a 1/6 hp sump pump and I will use it when the basin fills. It will plug in to the power outlet in that corner of the garage. I'll be sure to explain and demonstrate it all in an upcoming video once the basin requires emptying.

Yes, I did. Like you, I don't like the cheap look of galvanized metal. I just used a brush and some black paint. Easy peasy.

It has worked out great so far. I'm lucky that the low point of the drain (right over the grille) sits right below the center of a tile so no issue with the connectors becoming disengaged. It's like I planned it! (But, I didn't lol)

Garage is looking awesome tho wish I had a drain for indoor washing bad, getting heat hooked up soon so at least my rinseless washes and interior details won’t be miserable in the winter

I don't know what you mean about "leaving lines". The lights are working out great. I am amazed every time I go in there and flick the light switch. It is definitely a more clinical level of light, but it's comfortable and I think it has brought a new life to the entire space. A heated garage up here is a must. I don't know why people don't do it more since a cold, dark garage in the Canadian winter is just miserable. Not to mention; useless.
