I got an email advertising this Garmin chronograph, and although I'm a Garmin fan, I did some research, and found that it was the ONLY one of the top few that tracked every shot between .20-.50 caliber and velocities between 1000 - 5500!!!!! The thing is amazing!

It’s nice to have accuracy and consistency when using a chronograph but to be fair if they are within a couple percent of accuracy for most of us shooting airguns they are fine as they are especially like the FX Chronograph being 200$ vs 600$ for the Garmin, and 100$ for a Caldwell. The advantage for me is the size. A compact chronograph like the Garmin Xero C1 and the FX make them perfect for the shooter that just needs an idea where the gun is shooting at while tuning. Nice testing bud. Always learning when I watch your channel. Thank you.

I agree the size is a huge bonus, but for people who shoot in competition like I do, it’s very important the accuracy. The FX Chrono, I don’t even use any longer after seeing how inaccurate it actually is. I would recommend either the pro Krono or the caldwell chronograph as the ones with two sensors that measure the speed between them are much more reliable than any radar chronograph, obviously, the Garman is just as good you can see by my example, but as for radar chronographs, I think Garmin is the best way to go, because I need to know my exact velocity to calculate my exact energy, all of those numbers are critical in competitions, as there are sometimes energy limitations, or energy, maximum minimums, very specific coordinates for your velocity and energy to meet in order to be compliant that event. I know for most people shooting in their backyard. It doesn’t matter, but for me, and others like me it definitely does matter. So hopefully I gave useful information for you as well as others like me. If if there’s any questions, you have feel free to ask. I’m happy to answer anytime.

No problem, Doug, I’ll let you know. Which chronograph are you using down range? Because I’ve adjusted the report on that chronograph I’m familiar with it. I never read the directions but I just found every setting in the app like I do for every piece of hardware I own testing equipment as far as the solos scopes not just the one that I got for testing the suppressor, but I have handheld solos scopes for Hvac and multimeters, automotive diagnostic tools, tone, testers, CCTV, testers, thermal, imaging, cameras, moisture, meters, air, quality, testers, gas leak, detectors, Freon leak detectors, I have probably $10,000 worth of testing equipment for my company and me personally. Every single item when I got it I went through every setting and found the best most consistent accuracy with each instrument, no different with chronographs. I understood what you meant, I was trying to say that I’ve already adjusted those settings. Then again, I did not realize I was getting inaccurate results, but I don’t feel like I should be. I used the best settings for that velocity, caliber, etc., either way it’s here nor there. I didn’t touch one setting on the Garmin and it’s not one single shot out of that whole video or any other time I’ve used it was it more than three or 4 ft./s difference than the pro chrono. There Hass to be a reason why Doug, obviously one way or the other it’s unreliable.

I got you, see you know they make good shit. And they don’t make only one thing good, FX makes great air guns, really top-notch, no question about that. Some of the best guns out there that literally changed the entire air, gun market, but chronographs are not their thing.

Cant u adjust out the error in the FX?

Wow that is something. Most of my guns shot about 2600 fps. 5000 is a lot. What gun was he using?? I wonder if it would work for golf like the r10.

Just look up reviews of the Garmin versus lab, radar and a couple others, you’ll find the guy he’s got a beard, and he’s shooting. I forget exactly what ammo but he had a serious barrel. Just google it or search it on KZbin is what I mean. You’ll find it. It’s one of the few that pop up every time.

Interesting test Chris. I have that pro chrono with lights. First day owning the lights I broke the plastic housing because it fell off table 😂. Now is put together with electric tape. Still works just bruised. Do you think the pro chrony most accurate?

Dude, I totally feel your pain! That’s my third set of lights, the rods are totally bent, that’s why I keep having to adjust them, that’s been shot with my rattler, which really bent the shit out of it, the Pantera bent it it’s been bent several times. Honestly I really do like the Garman better than either one. The FX is obviously shit, I didn’t think so until now, because I honestly never tested it against anything else. I never thought I should, or had to, obviously I was wrong. I got it for free with my first impact, so it’s not the end of the world but now I know why. So I don’t really have a way to determine which is the most accurate but the Garman is damn sure the most convenient and it’s pretty goddamn accurate. It was within one or 2 ft./s of the pro Chrono every time they both registered, and the only time the Garmin didn’t register Was when I fired rapidly which no one really does when you’re testing velocity, I just did because I was really putting it to the test. So my vote is the Garmin 110%.

I wonder how accurate the rattler is at 300 and up yds. Very impressive.

I have shot it pretty far I have one kill at 167 yards. The crow exploded with 165 grain slugs. Obviously now I see why it’s coming with almost 400 pounds of energy.

I have taken it 250 to 300 yards target practicing for competition before I realized they weren’t going to let me use it because it’s semi auto or self indexing really, but couldn’t use it nonetheless, and I had the best accuracy with that gun out of all of them right next to the Pantera, probably because of the large Plenum and long barrel. Those two guns are the long range guns of choice, the impact if I have a larger caliber, I have one in 22 and one and 25 right now, but I do still have a 30 caliber barrel, but only 700 mm because I used my 800 for my scout barrel, and you can’t really get them right now I was lucky to get 125 caliber to make a 25 for the scout

I talked to john at New England Airgun. He said it was similar to the Huben k1. I have the gk1. Would you say the build quality is as good as the other guns you own.

Chris, you gotta think the pocket chrony is only 200$ versus the Garmin being 600$. Also, you may need to set your calibration on your pocket chrony. The price for me determines which I buy. I have the Caldwell and the new Pocket chrony, and both of mine are consistent. I think you need to recalibrate yours. By the way, I have the V2 Pocket Chrony.

By the way the new v2 pocket chrony reads upto 1275 fps.

I’m sure you noticed that still wouldn’t be enough, the Garmin goes up to 5500 FPS, no competition

@Cjsairgunscarsandmachining If you say so. 400$ difference in price isn't a comparison in itself. That's like comparing the new Fx True Ballistics chrony to the Garmin. It's not a competition because the Garmin doesn't calculate ballistic coefficients or catch the speed at 300 yards like the Fx True Ballistic, and it costs 400$ more than the Garmin. I think you should buy one down the road and see what you think. Everyone likes what they like, but you do have to calibrate the pocket chrony.

@@dougiefresh3767It's not about the price, and I don't trust FX Chronographs to do anything at this point, Garmin DISCOVERED GPS!!! It's a truly premium company, and that will track up to 5000 fps! You can barely break the sound barrier and it won't track, I'm not just using this for airguns. Also, 200 bucks, but did you see the results? So, the choice is to throw 200 in the trash, or spend the money, and get what you pay for???
@dougiefresh3767

@Cjsairgunscarsandmachining Lol! Like I've said twice, adjust the return signal. Read the manual it'll tell you, or better yet, send it to me if it's trash. As a matter of fact, I'll give you 100 for it. That way, you make something off of trash. I get you like the Garmin, but don't try to bash the Fx chrony. I've watched you use that chrony for a good while now, and the chrony isn't broke or even that far off of what that Garmin read. You just don't know how to adjust it. You'd be surprised at what the chrony tells you after adjusting the calibration/return. Like I said before, compare the Garmin to the new FX True Ballistics chrony because it does read up to 5000 fps like your Garmin. Let me know how I can send you the money for that trash? 🤑
