I have a Xero and absolutely love it!! Particularly compared to the "other" Doppler radar chrono that I gave to my cousin when I got the Garmin. However, there have been a number of suggestions/feature requests submitted by owners (read long thread on Sniper's Hide) and I would hope Garmin takes these seriously. Things like being able to add shots to a session that's closed out, not going into firmware update mode when connected to the app unless specifically selected by the user, being able to "Delete All" sessions and not have to do this individually, etc. All of these should be easily programmable in this great unit. The only other think I want to say is about the comments wrt to Hornady's great QA. Frankly, having shot their loaded ammo for a long time, I personally have found the consistency of their factory ammo to have gone down significantly. Shows up in ES and SD...when using a chrono! Shame, really. Cheers

I literally just gave my magneto speed to the guy who replaced my blinds two days ago because I bought one of these a month ago and he was talking about buying one and didn’t have the money for it. He gave a screaming good deal on the blinds so I figured I didn’t need two chronographs and selling it is a pain…

I’ve been running a magneto speed for a long time and I’ve been looking at one of these as an upgrade. The magneto is a good product, but I’m always having to fiddle with it as it works its way loose, and it does affect the accuracy of some of my rifles so I can’t always track velocity while testing for group size.

Great podcast/video. Just started using a Xero C1 last week. You are right, the usability is superb. And the price point is reasonable. I just wish they had an Apple Mac application to connect to rather than just the phone. And hopefully next iteration has interval reading for selectable distances. The Xero is a huge winner product. Glad to see Hornady championing it.

I had been waiting for a Labradar with Bluetooth to come back in stock when Gamin launched the Xero C1. I picked up the Garmin unit on the first retail run and couldn’t be happier with it. I had confidence in Garmin products having used their aviation gps units since 2002, I know they put in the time and effort to launch a product better than anything else on the market. Im so happy the labradar I wanted was out of stock, I hadn’t even heard rumors about the xero until a week before it was launched. Garmin nailed it and raised the bar for everyone else.

@rslsmithing what's better about the software? I'm going to order one or the other next week probably I've been on the fence about which one to buy.
@rslsmithing6 ай бұрын
@onebadjack1313 I've had the big labradar for 5-6 years and have gotten quite used to their software and interface. I've had garmin gps's since the early 93 and have really liked them till around 2015 or thereabouts and their smart watch, and I can't stand the software anymore. Its bery poor. Garmin, from what I've seen of mine when I had it, it is as minimalist as you can get in every way. All 3 do the job very well, but if you handle the garmin, think about handling the cheapest plastic product that's made in China, and then handle the labradar lx made 100 percent In north America. That whole presentation was so disingenuous from the start, saying that what they had was groundbreaking, and it seemed to carry through the whole presentation. They lost me and now I'm being tonwonder about Hornady products too.

Why do you think those guys were at Hornady? Could it be--the next iteration of the Zero will have 4Dof on it? The Garmin watch is avail with 4Dof I believe, and Applied Ballistics is avail on it as well. Seems a very natural progression. I'm also thinkng that they may be able to come up with longer range reading abilities too, probably more than Labradar had. Their focus now, will be how many features can we pack into this unit, and the "what can we do in the cost vs price point categories with it". They've hit on a home run market, and have the people and tech ability, that can exploit it to the max, in house.

I wanted the Garmin, but it's still new and the price is a little prohibitive. I just picked up my first ever "chrono" /velocity measuring device and it's the 1st Gen Lab Radar; quite simply because it was on sale at a $250 discount. Obviously they're going to phase out the Gen 1 because they have a small unit like the Garmin now also. I'm sure I'll end up with a Garmin one day when they're less expensive. Thanks again for another great topic on the podcast ‼️🤙😎

Could you guys address the difference between the calculations in determining velocity, ES, and SD for Labradar and your chronograph? I think that is the biggest difference.
@thomashansen93906 ай бұрын
For SD there are 2 formulas. Sample and Population. Sample is for less than 30 shots and population is for greater than 30. The difference isn’t huge but typically if the population equation is used when the shots are less than 30 the SD will be lower than what it should be if the correct equation was used. Garmin uses the population equation for all their SD calculations (so I’m told) so the SD you will get on the garmin vs labradar may be different

I’ve got a couple questions for the Garments n guys: 1) What max G’s is the G Zero rated to withstand? Can i attach it to Picatinny rail in my rifle w/o damaging the unit? 2) Professionally, i’ve seen the ionized gas ejected at shot exit interfere with Doppler return for the first few datapoints.. when does the G Zero pick up the bullet, and does it extrapolate back to the muzzle? 3) can data be exported for analysis in a spreadsheet? Thanks for a great interview!

I hope you’re reading this. I hope you have a line to communicate this comment to the Garmin team. My biggest disappointment with ALL chronographs and their apps is that you can only shoot/record one firearm at a time. Ideally, you should be able to shoot as many firearms as you want and PAUSE the session, shoot another string PAUSE it, etc…… and then come back to it and CONTINUE the string!!!!! As it is, you have to save each string and then manually input all of the data into a ballistic calculator. Since you have to manually input the data WHY BOTHER BUYING A GARMIN???? I plan on sticking with my F1 Chrony. I have to manually input the data from it too. The difference is, it only cost me $100. If Garmin (and the rest) would make it so you could PAUSE your string then come back and CONTINUE the same string later, I would buy it in a heartbeat. PS. Love the channel!!!😊

The problem Hornady has they don't produce there own powder. If they did they would eliminate the problem they have with the 7 prc or say that was caused by another company buy up the entire inventory of the powder they tested with. If they make there own powder they would be selling powder to the compition so they could actually keep up.

My Magnetospeed has never missed a shot, BUT hanging off the barrel did not allow me to use it during competition or while sight-in to collect velocities. The Zero on the other hand is a home run… HOWEVER…… mine misses 10% of the shots (22LR to 7PRC) when used at our 100 m indoor range! I have videos to support my experience. Other Zero owners do not have the same outcome in the same environment? Despite the shortfall I use it every time I shoot from 1042 to 4100 fps and try to note the missed shots. Just saying……
