New gates installed at SEPTA’s 69th Street Transportation Center to deter fare evaders

SEPTA has installed new gates as part of a pilot program at its 69th Street Transportation Center. According to the transit company, they lose $30 to $40 million a year due to people who don’t pay. NBC10’s Rosemary Connors has more.

They are not the first of it’s kind in the states, they have been at Philadelphia International Airport for years used as exit gates, they can be tailgated, so if police are going to do the same thing police do in NY ( just sit there and watch them enter) then it’s a waste of money.
