Excited for this! Please show us the full range of stem/handlebar adjustability - I've rarely seen reviewers do this.

Now that my kids ride their own bikes to school, I swapped my budget cargo ebike for a used Gazelle Cityzen T10. I love that it doesn’t have a throttle and I’m actually getting some exercise. The components are awesome and it’s really easy to work on with quick release front and rear. Changing the brake pads isn’t a p.i.t.a anymore.

I wish more ebike reviews covered the gearing and 'terrain appropriateness'. (Will the ebike be appropriate for the rider's local terrain. What to expect when riding on a quasi-steep hill. Etc.) It's a detail that can be very important for some locations. Seattle & San Francisco for example.
@BikeShopGirl
@BikeShopGirl 4 ай бұрын
So much of this has to do with the actual rider themselves and why trying locally is so critical. I try to note the differences of riding my local hills (8-11%) but the gearing and torque I need is going to be different than others. Is there a more quantifiable way you imagine besides listing torque and gearing?
@wendywolfe3205
@wendywolfe3205 4 ай бұрын
@@BikeShopGirl I suspect mentioning it (terrain, torque, fitness level) as something to think about, plus a (very) general take on your sense of the bike’s appropriateness might be enough. Maybe also reminding folks that terrain impacts expected miles (the Bosch mileage calculator is helpful here). Good background info to support your comment that Gazelle seems to assume that everyone will buy the 'higher' spec.
I think this sort of thing is helpful for entry level ebike reviews. I’ve bumped into too many salespeople who aren’t upfront about this, leading to a few bike-rider combinations that were a bit off.
 Lastly: One metric I used when comparing ebikes was torque/bike-weight (Nm/pound). It's not perfect (doesn't account for gearing), but it helped me to come up with a list of bikes I wanted to test ride. (One very “pretty” bike had low power/weight.. off the list it went.)

I test rode one of these in 2020 and 2021. The price was 2,499 and 1,999. The motor didn't have enough newton meters. This looks good with front suspension.

Thank you for this video! I'm new to bikes and ebikes, so this is all great information for me. I especially appreciate you reviewing it in context of what other bikes are like at a similar price point, what upgrades are and aren't worth the extra cost, etc. I'm still trying to decide which ebike would be best for me. Would you ever consider reviewing the Euphree City Robin?

I really hope that more quality brands start offering models for petite riders. My wife is a little over 5’, and has a lighter build. We live in a very hilly city, and I’ve loved my e-bike which I use for commuting, errands, and recreation. I’m hoping to get her an e-bike so we can run errands together, and leave the car at home. But a 55 lb. e-bike is half her weight. It would be like me riding a 100 lb. bike. It’s a lot to wrangle while trying to lock a bike to a bike rack, to catch if the bike is knocked into and starts to tip off its kickstand, to try to load onto a platform bike rack, etc. Why do all brands seem to engineer even XS models (and these are rarer than hens teeth) for 275-300 lb. riders? Why not build a 30-35 lb. XS e-bike with a 150 lb. weight capacity?

How does this compare to the Arroyo quality-wise? Any corners cut? Smaller wheels with wider tires seems good. Fit seems less upright. No internal hub option?

Light Off road capabilities, (camping / commuting from bike lanes and unpaved trails) night riding, carrying capability ( like putting it on city bus or train, carrying it up a flight of stairs) I'd like to see some of these because i use bik lanes, unpaved trails, buses, trains and i live in an apartment upstairs ( two flights of stairs)

What do you think of the FAZUA RIDE 60 system? Particularly what do you think about it in the Santa Cruz Skitch? It’s integrated into the frame. Not sure what I think about that. But, it’s a great looking bike!

I really wanted a gazelle or tern ebike but I don’t have any dealers around me with the bikes in stock to try. I have a ton of trek dealers so went with a trek e-bike. Otherwise I would have went tern or gazelle

This sounds too good to be true. Dutch built, Bosch powered. Not super chuffed about 400 Wh battery, and I agree you're better off with the higher spec'd bike. Also, for those ok with last year's tech, they're on sale to make way for the new.

Hi Arleigh. Thank you for reviewing Gazelle ebikes! I'd like to see a follow-up video look at the following features: Bosch eBike Flow App What effect does adjusting the power and cadence settings in the Flow App on your phone have on the bike's ability to conserve battery life vs getting a boost when you need to climb hills? Also does the Purion 200 display present the rider with Navigation features like direction arrows when paired with a phone running a route programmed into the Flow App? Hill Hold Can you demonstrate this feature that claims to automatically lock the wheels if the bike starts to move backward when you're using walk assist to push the bike up a hill? Does the Active Line with Purion Display provide for upgrade to Bosch ABS? I understand this would require adding hardware including the wheel speed sensors and the Bosch ABS Control Unit, but is this an available upgrade option for the baseline Bosch Active Line Smart System? Thank you!

Hey there, I’ve shown most of these features (but the purion 200) elsewhere. How to Use the Bosch AI eBike Range Control to Eliminate Range Anxiety kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6LQoX6KhZtooq8 Hill hold works but it’s not locking the wheels, it’s locking your chain from rotating backwards. ABS has the be installed at the factory from what I have seen.

Seems overpriced. My Wired e bike has 2 batteries a 15 and a 20ah. Operates at 60 volts motor wattage of 3000 watts. Easily carries me up steep hills at 250 lbs. Fenders , lights , hydro brakes , 204 mm disc, large display wheels at 26 x4 fat tire, shocks front and back. I have gone 70 miles on one charge and still had more to go. Two styles ,7 colors, batteries UL 2849 FOR LESS ! Shipped with tax ? Same as this bike.

Really disappointed that such a fine brand went with marshmellow tires even if it is only for The U.S. That fork is disappointing as well. No one touches their fit and finish. There is no excuse for a 55# e-bike, but it is still less than most and certainly better quality.

Wider tires don't necessarily mean poor performance. Tires this big and wide with wider rims to match do add weight and rotational weight. What size tire would you say is optimal for an e-bike? I tried to see if the Suntour Mobie A32 DS fork had some compromised feature. Couldn't see one. What do you find disappointing about it? I built a 49.5 lb. full suspension 750W/550Wh e-bike using a very light 26 lb. Maverick ML7 as my donor. It's not easy to get the weight down on e-bikes. In San Diego, the bus rack max weight is 55 lbs.

@@karlInSanDiego If an ebike like this one is meant to be used in the same situations as a normal city bike-why then does it need off-road features like suspension and fat tires? Does anyone make an electric bike with medium assist levels that **looks** like a normal bike, and doesn't weigh twice as much? Why do all ebikes have down tubes that are 4" in diameter, when my normal bike has a 1"∅ down tube? I liked how some ebikes put the battery under the rear rack, which doesn't stand out like a sore thumb, but I suppose that makes the bike somewhat unbalanced. At least with this bike, the battery is on the frame, and not in it.

@@karlInSanDiego the move feom 18 to 25c tires in racing had nothing to do with speed, but energy saved by riding smoother. Return on increased width drops off dramatically and becomes a detriment to range, flat resistance, handling and braking. There's a reason these are just for The U.S. market. ALL fork and frame suspensions are designed for off road control, not on-road comfort. If they were soft enough to absorb road irregularities they would dive dangerously. Soft tires dive and squirm in turning. Suspensions magnify this problem. This particular fork just isn't very good in any role.

@@MHH3180 I can ride my full suspension e-bike on 1.5" x 26" tires at full speed regardless of otherwise dangerous road imperfections that would snakebite road tires or bend road rims without suspension and full speed on that bike is ~30mph. I'm not a fan of fat tire or even 3" tires, but Class III bikes are benefiting from robust tires that aren't easily punctured. I recognize this Gazelle is not a Class III bike, but it doesn't erase what we've learned about the durability of more robust tires. I've not yet read or experienced that wider tires are more prone to flats.

@@cmmartti The wide downtube is beneficial for rigidity on the step-through design, lacking the strength of a double diamond geometry. The previous model of this bike required two down tubes which wasn't elegant. Most of the super wide downtube e-bikes house the battery there and it snaps in, making that tube an incomplete tube. I'm not convinced that cities are smooth and trouble free surfaces. Many roads have old expansion joints which result in a small steps, potholes, and generally inhospitable conditions for slim tires. Once you adapt to balloon tires, you realize how much less time you spend hunting for the things that will flat your tires, and how much more time you can keep your head up, observing the community and other road users. That said, I'd go for 50mm Big Apples and did on my most recent build.

It used to be on the rear rack, how many European bikes run them. I’m actually totally fine with this location. It’s no difference than a large power tube in the same location. Where would you put it?
