I've served in the German Navy from 1993 to 2001. I have served on Fast Patrol Boats class 148 (open bridge), a submarine class 206A, one Auxiliary German Intelligence (my best time ever), and several Mine Hunters, class 332. After watching your video, it feels like I served on Apollo 13 back then and now everyone serves onboard Star Track units. But, hack, I still know how to use a sextant. I like the latest subs and frigates - reckon Oz should have those subs for defence around the northern islands leaving the AUKUS nuke subs to guard the long ocean trade routes - all under the umbrella of the amazing Australian battlefield command system.

As much as I like the german Navy because I serverd in it there are several inaccuracys. Bremen Class is out of service by now (also 10 months ago) and was desingned and started to built in the 70s not the 80s. Brandenburg Class Frigattes can reach up to 29 Knots which equals to 54 km/h or 33 mph

First, it's Deutsche Marine now, Kriegsmarine is what it was called in Nazi Germany. And yes, it was limited during the cold war. That's why older subs like the 209 class actually have comparable tonnage to the WW2 Type XXI.

Sadly the German military faces constant cutbacks. Of all their subs, according to reports in Spiegel, barely four are actually seaworthy. The same applies to their tank corps.

@@achimkrull7165 4 out of 6 is absolutely okay though. Even 3 out of 6 would be okay. Normally you have up to half your subs and ships going through maintenance, repairs and refits. The Tanks are another thing. Roughly 90 were combat ready in February. about ~100 are currently undergoing upgrades from A6 to A7V status and are at the companies doing the upgrades. Leaving about 135. Now, it sounds devastating, but you've gotta keep in mind, that german Tanks have to adhere to the German Vehicle Code. Meaning if one break light does not work properly, it's "out". And Stuff like that constantly breaks. Which means, Tanks are rotated in and out of maintenance for minor repairs that are usually done within an hour. But because much of the maintenance was outsourced to civilian contractors (aka Rheinmetall & KMW), there's always a huge backlog of tanks that need those minor repairs, or just regular maintenance. I've been in a Heavy Logistics Batallion from 2006-2008, when the Brigades Wiesel Tankettes had problems, we were the ones to organise transport to the maintenance depot. And oh boy, it was silly most of the time. Loading up around 5-10 each month, the majority of those with silly stuff that could've been done by a monkey with a wrench within an hour or two. Up to Code to drive on the german public roads? No. Combat worthy? Absolutely.

@@Fukose Germany does not have a large submarine fleet. The German Navy only has six. German models can score much more than export hits, because they have a decisive advantage: thanks to their hydrogen operation, they drive almost silently. No diesel drive but hydroge

It was the logo from the Nato exercise (Cold Response) in wich the submarien participated. Participating ships, etc. have the exercise logo temporary on their hull.
