I played one of these at the Gibson Garage in Nashville last week while vacationing and I really enjoyed the sound and playability of the Songwriter G Series. At a price point of $1,599 I think it is a good deal on a solid wood, American made acoustic guitar.

I just bought the G writer and I've been playing seriously since 1954 and I have to say I had at one time the big priced Songwriter and I'll tell you what I think I like this G Writer even better. I don't think anyone should pay a whole lot of money for a lot of bling if you can get a guitar that functions, plays and sounds like it should without all the bling. The G-Writer with Gibsons Advance profile neck plays better than my 3000.00 Songwriter did, sounds just as good if not better and you save about half of what the Songwriter did. Great job on these Generation series guitars Gibson.

A 00 is a teenaged Taylor Mini. A G-45 is a young grown up. They mike well for sure. You are the first ones I've seen who has an actual opinion on the port. The little guy has a lot of low end for it's size.

In 2011, the Gibson J-15 sold for around $1200. Included an LR Baggs pickup, Sitka top, Mahogany back and sides, Nitro gloss finish and included a hard cases... So let's be real, the Generations series are subpar quality leveraging the mystique of the built in the USA and the Gibson logo... The Inspired by Gibson Epiphone acoustics are where the quality for value is

They certainly sound great, & this is my style to a T. I can't stand flashy acoustics... unless it's an old Dove or Bird. I'd probably have to get the G-Writer to meet my needs professionally, but I really love that G-00 too. Nice video guys.

@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses You can hear it in the audio. You did a great job capturing it, from first strum, that tone was front & center. Gibson owes you a commission, I'm going to be picking one of these up. I've got a 66 Dove that I inherited, but I can only use it to record & since I've been incorporating more acoustic into my work lately, it's time to make the plunge. All the thanks go to you amigos!

Personally I’d rather buy a J-15 that has a full finish with no “ player port “ ( hole in the side) for about $1200. and it comes with an actual guitar case not a gig bag. I made the mistake of buying one of these G-45’s before you could get the J-15 at that price point and I wish I could have waited 6 months. I don’t believe it has enough tone bars , I believe they only have one tone bar and they get overwhelmed too easily in my opinion. I got mine brand new from Guitar Center, I will say it has a phenomenal set up on it, great action and playability. I can’t complain about the playability one bit. It definitely doesn’t have that magic like my 2 Martins have. Ya know when you strum one chord and it sounds like a piano or an organ which is what hooked me into purchasing both of them 10 seconds after strumming the first chord. Too bad the Generation collection doesn’t have that.

Doesn’t the players port take away from The bass/fullness of the guitar just like a cutaway might or maybe even more?

Logically it might seem so. It actually sounds the opposite while playing it. I have an L00 and this new G00. The G00 sounds so much more full. I can’t explain why. I play this new one so much more.

The side hole is a gimmick. The player hears it better, as if that was ever an issue unless you disabled, at the cost of volume.
@ThomannsGuitarsBasses3 жыл бұрын
Hey Evan, thanks for watching it! Well, as told in the video the volume of these guitars is more than impressive. Even the 00 is loud, which was a huge surprise. So no issues with that at all. And honestly, what's wrong with having a nicer tone whilst playing your guitar thanks to an extra sound hole? Is it necessary? No. Does it work and improve the experience though? Definitely yes. So why not? Cheers //Kris
