Each individual guitar regardless of model should sound a bit different if these really are handmade with solid pieces. One of one model may sound uncharacteristic of what is expected. I very much recommend not buying one unless you’ve heard it. And considering how wide the playability is with acoustics, I’d recommend you it as well.
@tdc_20213 жыл бұрын
Great guitars if they didn’t have the player port, but then they wouldn’t really be much different to the first G range which was quite a bit cheaper. Shame Gibson had to discontinue the original Gs and the J15 because of margin

I think the so-called Player Port mic placement would ideally be in the middle between the edge of the port and line-of-sight to the strings. This gives the closest approximation of what the player hears with regard to harmonics coming off the strings plus the direct sound from the port. Interesting guitars. I'd like to try a G-45 to compare with my 2001 Martin Road Series DR.

It is interesting to note that the original G45 from a couple years ago was what started the Generation Series guitars. This second generation G45 has more innovation but does not automatically come with the Fishman on board electronics like the original did.
@mariodriessen97403 жыл бұрын
Plus it was cheaper (the studio version), it came with a beautiful hardcase, it looked better imo, it didn't have the weird hole...., so I'm glad I bought the G-45 Studio when they came out (for +/- £800). I wouldn't be surprised to see them going up in value on the 2nd hand market.

@@mariodriessen9740 I 100% agree with you. I got my G45 Studio from the first run and absolutely love it. Those first runs are already selling over their original asking price on the used market here in the States and I'm betting we will see that value go up.

Acoustic guitars are such an enigma. Go to a handful of guitar shops and play only $3,000 gibsons. Then go back around to all of them and play every used acoustic. 90% of the time you can find a different brand that plays and sounds just like a gibson for under $200. Even if you dont find one, you can really get a better undrstanding of the variety and many differences for such simple guitars. The best acoustic ive played as far as sound and playability is an Ibanez from the 90's. Even compared to Gibsons. Spectacular.

Again, no Concert size (G-00 in this case) with a cutaway. I would also have to add electronics. Gibson says 'Utile' on the fretboard? Not a fan of larger bodied guitars. I was raised on electrics
@donaldcahill82553 жыл бұрын
If you are looking for a dreadnought or a strummer, stay away from slim body guitar. I had a Gibson G-45 standard, not enough bass and to much treble (walnut body). I replaced it with an Eastman AC222-CE (ovangkol body), all solid, grand auditorium style at half the price. The Eastman is louder, as more bass and is perfectly balance. I also had a Martin DRS2 (now D-10). I still prefer the Eastman. Maybe one day I will buy a Gibson J-45, the real thing.

Nice guitars, but still not "affordable". It is a normal "professional" price. Then again they already have epiphone for the "affordable" price point
@MarcCoteMusic3 жыл бұрын
About a year and a half ago I purchased a new Norman B-18 for $500 Canadian. It's a dreadnought and in my (very) humble opinion, it sounds as good as any of these. Even my luthier was surprised at how good it sounded when I brought it in for a checkup. My Ibanez Talman acoustic, on the other hand... well, there isn't much you can do to make that one sound good. It's pretty, though. Anyway, my point is that good acoustics need not cost a fortune... even a more modest fortune like this series.
@westonpetty17513 жыл бұрын
Get what you pay for. Dropped 3k for my songwriter and you couldn't buy it from me if you wanted. Will never spend less than 3k for any brand acoustic. Electrics I'd say at least drop $1500
@MattWells-893 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you consider affordable. Most people lament that guitars were cheaper in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s etc. Very few people adjust those prices for inflation. Guitars that cost $250 in the 60’s would cost $2,000 today.
@anonnieman3 жыл бұрын
@@MarcCoteMusic yeah sometimes you find some real gems that aren't always made by the biggest brands and every single guitar is different. I have had multiple times where I liked the specs, quality and price of a guitar, but every guitar of the same model sounded totally different, both acoustics and electrics.
@anonnieman3 жыл бұрын
@@westonpetty1751 usually that is true, but affordable to most people is max 500,- most people don't have the possibility to spend 3000,- on a guitar and many cannot even spend 1500,- but yeah I get what you mean. As soon as you get to a certain quality of instrument, you just notice how it sounds and feels and you would never again go back to that 100,- Squier
