We use the Tank Cleaning and Testing (TCAT) facility to pressure test and clean New Glenn’s stages before flight. This massive building will be used for the fully reusable first stage which stands tall at 180 feet.

There is no other facility - A) on the Cape - B) where you build a rocket - C) you fly it - D) you bring it back - E) and you fly it again Five qualifiers. That's how many Blue Origin had to use to have something unique... lol - Falcon 9's Horizontal Integration Facility is the obvious answer, but while its fills up A, C, D, E, the rocket is in fact built in California - to stick with SpaceX, Boca Chica is doing B, C, D, and E, but it's not on the Cape - NASA's VAB is visible in the background, which completes objectives A, B, and C, but they don't have reusable rockets - they did have reusable rockets though, the Shuttle and even its SRBs fill in A, C, D, and E again, but again it's not built on the Cape - ULA's S.M.A.R.T. Reuse comes close, but they don't bring back the entire rocket - even Rocket Lab has the same capability, but again, not specifically on the Cape While technically correct at the moment, this is why you're not exactly a positive meme in the space nerd community, Blue. It's not that you don't do great work, you do, but you can't seem to accept that you're not The Best. Why do you try so hard to present yourself as the only one capable of great things, as opposed to part of a diverse and innovative industry?

Listen, you're not technically wrong, but there are ways of lying without ever saying anything untrue, just implying it. The context you're replying to here is SpaceX's Boca Chica facility, which is currently light years ahead of this thing. And that's a problem, because the New Glenn is about on par with the Falcon Heavy, not Starship -- speaking of which, SpaceX Hawtorne currently has multiple actual boosters in there, not just a mockup and space for two more. I'd be all for "team space", but when Blue Origin acts like a shitty team player and claims they're the "only one" doing something, it's kinda important to look at who else may be doing it. BO could have always put an expendable 2nd stage on the New Shepard rocket and gain both experience and an income stream. Instead, they choice the slowest, step by step, ferociously or not, approach that guaranteed them losing the National Security Space Launch contract to ULA and SpaceX. By delaying the New Glenn first launch to late 2022 they give SpaceX the opportunity to develop the Star Ship / Super Heavy next technological step with no real competition. I really want to see New Glenn fly. However, BO needs to develop a new business plan.

My humble opinion is, that they develop their rockets too much like NASA and their good ol rocket friends have done in the past. But they have done it to gain more money out of their sponsors hands. That is not going to happen. New Glenn will likely launch by the end of this year, if not early 2022. Despite the hype, the Starship prototypes have a LONG way to go before they are capable of reaching orbit. Maybe late 2022 at the earliest for Starship, probably later. There will likely be more spectacular tests that end in a RUD that will add to Starship's delay. Starship may be the rabbit here, but slow steady and deliberate is Blue Origin's approach.

@@jayrod9979 We know for fact that is not going to happen, New Glenn is NET late 2022: spacenews.com/blue-origin-delays-first-launch-of-new-glenn-to-late-2022/ That's a hell of a long time as far as Starship's development goes. BN1 and BN2 have already started stacking in Boca Chica, and if SpaceX perfects the landing, the very next step is orbital reentry testing. Given that SpaceX has actually been to orbit before a few times, the chance of them not hitting orbit even on their first try is absolutely minimal, the most likely thing to fail is the reentry phase -- but, by that point, orbital Starship is going to be a thing. And that's definitely going to happen before late 2022, the only way around it would be if they had 10-20 more RUDs on landing. That's just not something that ever happens to SpaceX, they never fail the same way twice.

Did she say that there's no other facility on the cape that reuses and assembles rockets 👀 I'm pretty sure that SpaceX is gonna have a problem with that statement

Shouldn't that place be a hive of activity with test tanks being prepared and tested. BO were talking about New Glen launching in 2022, not unless they get busy at these facilities actually building and testing.

I really feel like the three big ones: Starship, New Glenn, and SLS are like siblings. Starship is the loved and talented one that no one seems to fault, SLS is like the middle child who gets some attention but still falls behind sometimes, they're also very demanding and costly... and then there's New Glenn that everyone makes fun of and gets all the hand-me-downs. But, in the end, we love all three of them and we do still want to see all three fly someday.

I don't understand the point of this. How is this step by step ferociously? You guys haven't even tried and failed to launch a small rocket into orbit yet (first step is trying and failing), and you're trying to build a massive reusable rocket?

It's so hard to like because it's basically ULA and friends all over again. Billions of dollars every year, very little progress, government funding. They've been at it for 20 years at a tune of a billion dollars a year, and they have nothing to show for it.
