I just bought a 2021 Silverado LTZ with 25,000 miles on her. It has the Duramax 3.0L. I bought it because I was getting out of my 2011 Nissan Titan and my neighbor, who is a mechanic has a 2020 GMC Sierra with the same engine. He told me that he loves the truck and engine. Once he told me about the fuel mileage I got interested. One thing he mentioned was that when changing his oil and other trucks with the same engine that he needed to tighten the oil filter tighter than he tightens other vehicles. If he didn't, they would drip oil a little bit. He said that it was the first time he had to use a wrench to install a oil filter on a vehicle. I was thinking that it may be due to the brand of oil filters he is using. He uses AC Delco filters. I'm getting ready to change my oil for the first time. I ordered the Amsoil and I have a PPE filter and PPE magnetic drain plug I plan to install. I hope it goes according to plan. 🤞

Back when I was a manager of a service station I always got filters from other places that used King Kong and his friends to tighten the filter. I always emphasized my employees to lubricate the rubbers, check the mounting plate for separated rubbers and and give the filter barely a quarter turn.

I have a 2014 Range Rover and used Amsoil since 500miles, it has over 150k with no engine issues. I just bought a GMC pickup with Duramax 3.0L and looking to use Amsoil Diesel Oil 0w20. However, on the GM website for DexosD certifications they do not list Amsoil as having a license. I see that Amsoil lists it on the bottle, and wondering if this just might be GM is tardy in getting their website updated. With an extended warranty on this rig I do not want to run an oil that is not DexosD certified by GM, per their website.

If you read Amsoils bottle, it doesn’t say that it conforms to the DexosD spec. Just “for use in”. Fancy wording to say they haven’t tested for the spec.

Will definitely be performing my own oil changes and switching over to AmesOil on my next oil change. Dealership is charging $323 taxes in for an oil change. Great question depends on the application also the type of driving you're doing City Driving highway driving Towing. Also there's different motor oils that Amsoil makes that have different levels of attitude packages detergents dispersants and cold flow additives. On a truck like yours if I owned it and I maintained it and did an engine flush every oil change with the Amsoil fuel additives diesel injector Clean Plus heating boost and I ran the signature series diesel motor oil I would do a filter change every 12,000 miles of highway driving and I would go $25,000 miles and one oil change if I was doing highway driving if I was doing all City driving I would go 15,000 miles. I did an oil change on my '95 tahoe with amsoil trying to see if i could still hear the bottom end clanking and it didnt. Could only hear the lifters a little but normal. Did the elevated pour in i learned from watching the channel.

Great question Nick you can use any motor oil that meets or exceeds the specification the amsoils different it's 100% synthetic and oil manufacturer can call a full synthetic full synthetic when it's only 25% synthetic so when you use the Amsoil you have less oil cooking you have significantly better turbo protection because the oil doesn't burn and leave a film on it kind of like burning butter in a frying pan he also have less frictionless heatless wear on the piston rings you'll have better compression longer and you'll make more power and better fuel mileage. ♥️ See Fluid Performance Tests - www.amsoil.com/performancetests.aspx?zo=5331179

0w-20 oil has been proven to be durable in gas engines. Hopefully with the Dexos D spec and proper engineering of the oil pump 0w-20 will allow these engines to have a long life. I am with you. Seems really think for turbo. Diesel and direct injection.

Outstanding video and thanks for sharing. I got myself 22, 3.0, 1500 w/ 3k on it and I just hit 5,500. I don’t drive it too much, but wanted to ask what the best rule of thumb is for changing oil/filter on these trucks? If anything, might put in on avg. about 6-7k yearly at most, if not 8-10k during Spring/Summer months for the upcoming road trips if any. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated Gents. Of course Fernando if I was personally running the Amsoil in this truck I would most likely change my oil at about $7,500 Mi City driving. If I was doing all highway driving you should be good for about 12,500 MI. The biggest bottleneck is making sure the filter is changed early because of all the soot with the diesel fuel. Personally I would run 1 to 16 oz bottle of diesel injector Clean Plus seatain boost every full tank of diesel and that would give it more power it would run smoother less fuel contamination and much smoother the fuel pump will last longer injectors will last longer and you'll have better compression longer because of the upper cylinder lubricant. That's a great place to start I think you can always push it further as you do oil analysis and check the oil level and how much fuel contamination there is and also driving condition. That's a great question we went with the other one because it's a closer fit with the viscosity however you could easily run the max Duty diesel 10w30 it just wouldn't get quite as much fuel mileage

On a Duramax 2015 my guess is about 27 wheel horsepower and about 44 wheel torque. We will be doing a dino video soon with a diesel truck. There's a lot of different categories and different ways that they measure and test the motor oil showing its superiority like cold flow ability film strength keeping metal parts separated where thickening and a whole host of other things like additive packages keeping the wear down also there's detergents that keep the motor oil clean from carbon and it thickening. @@Syntheticoilprotection brand new 3.0 duramax lzo 1600 miles, it's winter here I put in about 5 Oz to the tank didn't want to go crazy as it is brand new, and 15-20 miles later check engine light comes on with p2c7a code.

Oh yeah that can definitely happen there's a lot of vehicles that come out of the factory with all kinds of check engine lights I remember when I worked at Honda all the tire lights would come on and people would bring back their car 500 Miles later and they would say the light won't go away and they just keep resetting it and then they would come back reset it come back reset it come back there's all different types of manufactured defects with the computers and that can happen what I would recommend is going to a mechanic and have them tune it out basically if they have the software they can find the code that keeps triggering and then they eliminate it and then that code will no longer trigger and pull the light on on your dashboard👍

At your recommendation from a couple years ago Eben, when I do my once a year oil/filter change on my JD tractor I use engine flush and my oil stays clean for a very long time! And of course I use Amsoil! And I use the Amsoil Garage also!! Just bought a 2022 Silverado w/that Baby-Max so after the first free oil change it’s going to Amsoil! Especially when fuel prices are thru the roof!! I Amsoil makes it last longer and saves fuel! Thanks for the input buddy!

Yeah I think he decided not to get entangled with the product because of the inconsistency and build quality. Steven works on a lot of the Mopar products at his job and he's told me there's a lot of inconsistencies and he considered buying a Jeep and because of these inconsistencies he went elsewhere to the general motors GMC product. I've watched his Facebook page and he shows back to back to back to back to back all different types of product problems with certain Dodge and Mopar products and it's very unfortunate but it's a reality and if that is a consistent problem it's not worth the liability for Gail Banks to look bad because his product fails because of the weakest link. Rather than delete, why not just buy the engine alone, and swap into a pre-1974 truck. No emissions standards for diesels back then. Run it with an aftermarket ECU, they are available now for diesels, sell the DPF, EGR components, and the turbo. Hook it up to a manual transmission. That way you get the nice engine, it's legal, and you get other advantages of the older trucks like no electronics beyond the new engine, manual transmission options, lighter weight, freedom of tuning it however you want, etc. That's the future of diesel tuning in my opinion, modern diesels in old trucks with either aftermarket ECUs running them or converted to mechanical injection pump.

Yeah it looks like they're close however there's actually a huge difference lubricants break down exponentially and also they break down with fuel contamination What makes Amsoil such an exception is it doesn't allow the oil to get contaminated as easily because it seals the cylinders better You have less fuel washing cylinder washing where the blow-by is going into the motor oil It thins out the oil and then it breaks down His test isn't real world It's basically just in a lab where they heat it and do different things real world testing is the biggest difference take a look at some of these oil analysis You'll see really how big of a difference it is. @@Syntheticoilprotection I’m not saying amsoil not good. Just the opposite it’s excellent. I run a fleet of kwt800 dump trucks , I change the oil every 10,000. That’s using Dello 400 multi grade. My oil analysis says I can run them to about 20 thousand. I drop it to get the soot out of the engine. These are all 2017‘s an up. The egr kills these engines. If it were an older Diesel I would run it to 20,000 I wouldn’t even hesitate. But with this DEF system you just can’t do it and get longevity out of the motor.

I see yes yeah there's all different types of motor oil one that I would recommend for that application it's called the Amsoil signature series Max Duty diesel it helps with cylinder liner scuffing just exactly what you mentioned with soot thickening it keeps the soot down keeps the oil from thickening so you have better cold start protection and the motors will last exponentially longer because of the 100% synthetic film strength. A oil manufacturer can call a full synthetic full synthetic when it's 25% synthetic. The Amsoil is different because it's 100% synthetic and it's got a more complete film keeping the metal Parts separated this is one of the tests showing the difference.
