I had the z fold 2 and absolutely hated it. It was so bad with that ridiculous slim outer form factor it put me off foldables. However I bit the bullet and got the pixel 9 fold and wow what a difference. It has a sensible outer screen which makes a huge difference. So.far I'm extremely impressed

Trust me. I have a galaxy z fold six and I missed my return window of fifteen days so I put the phone back in his box and bought the obsidian color of the pixel nine pro fold including they're second generation pixel buds pro 2 and I'm actually happy. It doesn't have the same hardware as Samsung. Of course, but what makes it special is you get amazing hardware and the right size cover display, at least for me. Until Samsung designs, a foldable that makes sense with A8 inch display, like Google and a cover display at least the size of there plus on the s, line, then it's a no goal because at one millimeter of difference in size to the z fold five, in my opinion, is nothing

The device only wobbles when pressure is applied to the far left edge near the hinge, which is unlikely to happen during normal use. Under typical conditions, it remains stable without wobbling.

Thanks for the review Erin! Love the structure! As for longevity, I'm sort of realizing that these pricey Google Pixel Fold's and perhaps other foldables are sort of designed as a subscription model. The long-term failure rate will always be higher than the traditional form factor, at least as of this time, but because there will likely be a new Fold model within 2 years or so, people can just trade in for that new model and the longevity "resets". So it is sort of milking those customers who are willing to fork up the premium. Hopefully there will be a time where foldables are generally reliable enough to skip a generation and trade in afterwards. 😊 I think that's when the value proposition would be far more palatable.

I'I'm glad the Google team redesigned the fold. A little disappointed that the cameras were not upgraded. But I get it, they wanted to make it thinner. I just hope the battery is better, doesn't heat up as much and better app compatibility. Some apps didn't use the full screen real estate. Great review!

Very awesome review, I've had a couple of Google phones and I love them all. I know that purple have has different issues but I've not really run into any problems or had a bad experience with googly customer service. Right now I'm trying to side between the fold and the 9 pro XL. Any thoughts?

You have to be ready to change the way you use your phone if you're going to op for the fold. And it would probably be more useful for you if you watch a lot of videos or need to see things on a larger screen. Otherwise the XL would give you a more traditional experience.

I have the pixel 8 pro and I hate how the cameras keep switching back and forth when trying to focus. Does this camera do that too? It also does that while videoing. Not cool.

I've made it a habit to let any smart phone camera I'm using decide which lens it needs to use before I start recording. I decide where I'm going to shoot from, or far back and then just let it choose and start recording. Not perfect, but this is something that happens to a lot of smart phones right now.

Man that front hinge bezel. Looks dated design wise but probably a solid phone. The hinge bezel and lack of flagship camera hardware makes this a no go for me. My Global honor V3 is arriving tomorrow!

You 🎥 it on my Birthday 30 august I today got my Fold 6 before that I have the fold 4, it did get a problem with the inner screen where it won't open fully but kinda half, also the inner cover this display starting going off a bit on make a sound ever time I open it, but that happen after around a 1years ( 29. 04. 23)of use. Bought my new one, on my Birthday 30.08

1799.00 ouch. Plus you have to get the 279 insurance or you’ll be robbed again when it inevitably breaks. I got 1 years and two weeks out of my flip 4, just after warranty expired the screen blackened along the seam. I was never rough with it either. I enjoyed slowly pressing the sides shut.

Pixels are fine. I’ve used them going back to the Nexus days. No they’re not perfect, but no phone is. I just got the 9 Pro Fold and it’s pretty awesome, no complaints yet.
