I am a Rad tech and many cases the CT scans, X-rays, etc., the benefits out way the risks by a long shot. Yes radiation can cause problems, but it is very rare. Everyday we are exposed to radiation, when you go on a plane, etc. The dose of radiation is constantly going down over the years as research and equipment changes. When a patient is pregnant or there is a chance of pregnancy, we usually check with the radiologists and try to reduce the amount of images or change the protocol sometimes. It seems as tho there is a lot of fear and misunderstanding in the medical community surrounding radiation and it is concerning because it can influence the patients and scare them as well. There needs to be education for medical staff and the general public surrounding medical radiation.

Wow, thank you for sharing! It's nice to hear from someone who works directly in that department. I absolutely agree that there needs to be more education provided!

I love that! I love that you want to learn how to splint and cast. I am curently an ER tech here in Alaska, almost done with nursing school as well and I feel the same way about that! I feel like all of of the nurses should know how to do these skills just in case. We also are the ones who provide the teaching for all of the casting and splinting.

Hello! Just graduated and I’m doing my “research” on ED residencies because one of the options is ED nights. Nervous to follow that route since I only went to ED once during clinical. Thanks for sharing!

I think it’s also important to note with the CT the extreme cost difference. Some insurances don’t cover it as necessary so people take home $4k in debt from it. So interesting to see the perspective from other providers and I agreed with the possible harm. It should be our last resort not the first

I don’t know if I should continue nursing after I had opened a business and doing day trading. I feel like there’s just so much work before I become a nurse. I only finished all the prereq. And took a break before applying for the program. I really don’t know, scares me to death😅 watching you reminds me of the time that I identified myself as a nurse.

Can you help me with this question? “3 pts come in - one asking for medicine, another one where a doctor is at the bedside and needs to talk to you, another one that needs a heart monitor to be put on - in what order would you see the pts” Like an i supposed to delegate to have a tech put heart monitor on? I need help

How long is your residency program (didactic and preceptorship)? Thank you so much for making these videos!! I find it especially helpful as a nursing student about to graduate in Dec. '22
@SierraLyn

The residency program itself is an entire year, however we officially work on our own as an RN after 12 weeks of clinical shifts with our preceptor are completed. We also had a month prior of classes & skills checkoffs like TNCC, ACLS, PALS, etc.

i heard a CT was equivalent to 1000 Xrays in radiation though that might've changed with newer equipment i'd hope. Definitely only do MRI or Ultrasounds when possible. Ultrasounds also rule out cysts in things like breasts.

Of course she’s hot. Nurses always are. And their scrubs always look to be tailored and perfectly fit the waist, hips, and top to bottom. What a sweet gig. Shoutout helping people.
