Can I ask, what made you switch? Are you a new grad? And did you choose a specialty? 😅 sorry I'm just about to start my first nursing job and I am SCARED I chose wrong

@ginnytucker4393 Hey! I started writing a response and it was getting to be about 6 pages long so I erased it…NO ONE is reading that many words SO…God did place me on my 3rd position (probably not my final 🤣), but it will be a year in July. I’m in the OR (mostly circulating). Now, based on my experience (and this is ONLY based on MY experience/opinion)…If you want to be able to move around effortlessly, I would recommend getting floor experience first then switch to a specialty…AND LET ME TELL YOU…there are many mixed opinions about that! Though I love it, OR nursing is completely different. I realize that I’m not using the skills or thinking the same way that I did when I did my clinicals and I’m mad about that 🤣 so I’ve tried to get a Med/surg per diem position within my hospital and what I’ve learned is that because I didn’t get enough floor experience, it is VERY hard to get that type of position without having to jump through a million hoops. Essentially I’m “stuck” in OR positions unless I want to make some drastic decisions. If you start off with Med/surg, you have more wiggle room going forward throughout your career. Just my humble opinion. I’ve been writing and rewriting this for so long now, I’ve probably answered none of your original questions…sorry!!!! Yes, semi-new grad, 2022. If you’d like to discuss it further, let me know and I’ll give you my email…there’s a lot to it, but I’m willing to offer any helpful advice/guidance. If not, just remember to never beat yourself up for making the decision that’s best for you!! If you have to move around, keep moving until you find the right fit. Btw, this is my second career. You’ve got this!!!!!!

@crystalberger3939 thanks for the reply! Yea I would love your email! I chose med/surg as my first job instead of trying to get into a specific area or doing a residency somewhere. I did feel like getting that experience was the only way to keep doors open for me while figuring out what specialty I want to do. The OR seems nice!! I would love to hear about your experiences :)
