Replace the capacitor, centrifugal start switch and bearings in the old motor and you'd have a good spare.

Ross, anti seize that shaft and pulley system. You don't have to cut anything Ross, they make 90 degree angle guards for wiring to go into control box, all you'd have had to do was change the connector end on the conduit.

The technical term for that box on the motor the wires are in is “peckerhead”. There are lots of “peckerheads” where I work and a few electricians.

This reminds me of one of my fav Hogan's Heros episodes. Hogan and Klink are disarming a bomb. Hogan asks Klink which wire to cut. Klink picks the white wire, so Hogan cuts the black one instead as he knew Klink would pick the wrong one. 💥

Impressive that it run and run in the right direction on the first attempt. I take 30 round up barrels and cut out an opening so that it fits over the motor and use tarp straps to hold them on so the wind can’t take them across the county.

I was waiting for a mouse to run out of the auger, and up your pant leg. Watching Ross do a Sunday morning shuffle would have been entertaining! 😂😂. At least you have a like new shovel laying on scene to clean up all of that high priced corn. 😢😢. Since you're have such a good day, and it has been lucky for you so far, you should go buy a couple of lotto tickets, then you wouldn't need to worry about getting another job to please certain viewers! 😮

In the oil patch, we constantly had at least 3 motors in the re-wind shop. Lightning was attracted to those pump jacks out in the fields or the powerlines leading to them. We trenched in most of the long power feeds, simply because the farmers wanted the power poles out of their fields. Lightning still has the motors and the underground cables. Of course, that was better than hitting a near-empty tank in the tank battery. The crude oil vapors in the empty tanks when exploding would cause those 210-barrel metal tanks to take off like a rocket. We have found them almost 1/2 mile away. Even the salt water ( a brine with every element known to man) tanks would explode when a welder was trying to repair a leak. I blew the top off a tank trying to patch a 210 tank. Luck was on my side as it could have blown out right where I was at. @@danjosephson6910
