Looks interesting. I would like to point out that any type of locking barrel is not direct blowback. By that logic a tilting barrel Browning design is a direct blowback. Direct blowback is when there is NO locking of the breach like a Walther PPK.

why? I bet you know all of the good ol' Czechoslovakian guns like vz. 26, vz. 58 etc. That little "vz." is short for "vzor" which can be translated to "mark". So for example Samopal vz. 58 means Machine gun mk 58. The 58 stands for the year it was developed (1958). And this pistol was developed in 2023. Hence mk23. That being said, I do think that it's a marketing thing, since Grand Power (company based in Slovakia, part of ex-Czechoslovakia) does not use this kind of nomenclature in their weapons. But I wouldn't say it's blasphemous lol

I love Rotary locking barrels, from the Beretta Px4 to the Obregon, but I think the Silencerco Maxim 9 with its roller delay and fixed barrel is the coolest pistol advancement I've seen and especially the non-NFA version that could have been great w/o the hoops to jump through. It's a travesty that they didn't release it or that Flux or somebody didn't come out with a Raider kit for the Maxim 9 in any form. Sad it was discontinued before the current era of quick approvals because it could have been a hit. After seeing the Auto Maxim 9s make the rounds on youtube a couple years ago I'm convinced that if Silencerco extended the barrel a couple inches and added a few more baffles along with a nice brace it could be the best PCC/SMG/MP period.

I've had a few of the Grande Power pistols. I've been pretty well impressed with quality function, as well as the accuracy on all of them. While the rotating lock up assembly on these is not a new concept, it is very well executed in this design . And these are a "duty service" grade tool. Which means it's able to stand up to constant use in training, or combat if necessary. The vast majority of people will likely will never see combat with it, but it is nice to know that it could hold up if necessary.

I picked up a used Q1 MK23 (compact version). It has the lightest break of any striker fired pistol I’ve ever shot. It breaks right around 2lbs 4-6oz. It’s a hell of a shooter, but because of that trigger break, it’s staying a range gun. Super smooth. Well made, the safety plugs annoyed me at first, mainly for aesthetics, but after shooting it for the last couple months, I don’t even notice it.

I own several GP guns as well as comp and race pistols from other manufacturers. I wouldn’t throw the Mk23 into the fray against steel frame pistols but I’d run it against any polymer frame all day long. I personally carry this pistol because of its shoot ability and ease of control. Their importer, Global Ordnance, produced a rifle, in collaboration, with Grand Power, called the Monolith and it is definitely worth the buy as well.

I have been eyeing this gun for a few years, I really like the rotating barrel and low bore axis that comes with it.. Especially now that it comes with and RMR cut, The only issue I have is that the barrel is non coated stainless, as I have seen some of their earlier ones that started to rust a little, but then Grand Power started melonite coating the barrels, now it seems they have reverted back to raw stainless again, Yes and I can't believe they cant be bothered to change their polymer frame stampings to where they don't have to put that ugly plug in it.. I think if I buy one I would remove that ugly plug and fill in the holes flush with some black epoxy, or have some little plastic plugs 3d printed that would fit flush, Such a simple thing that they could fix so easily without much cost at all, Just don't pump out frames that only come with safety holes in them. Like you said every other manufacturer does it and just cuts the holes in the frames used for safeties only..

Not sure if I missed anything, but is the rotating barrel the only thing actually unique on this firearm? Because not only is this not the only gun on the market with that, but really the only advantage that gives is to accuracy. But you could accomplish even better with a fixed barrel like the Beretta example you gave in the video, and the take down process with that is so much easier. And honestly, when it comes to pistol accuracy, you can really accomplish the same groups you were doing with just about any pistol with a tilting barrel. But anyway, glad you are enjoying it, always nice when you are happy with your purchase decision. I personally don't really see much here that interests me to be honest, but that's just personal preference.

So this is a reversal of the lug on barrel of the Beretta Cougar. More mass on the barrel with this design, it appears, to cut that cam groove into it. Does the frame lug and the cam groove actually touch at either end to stop motion, or is excess energy from the recoil and return to battery absorbed by other parts of the pistol? Thank you for the reviews! Edit: My concern is with battering the lug and cam end points which could affect total life of parts which tend to be costly.

@joeholtz53955 ай бұрын
Every time a new gun comes up and it's "groundbreaking" or a "game changer" etc. I know it won't be. The only thing different on the 23 is the rotating barrel, a design that's been around for over 100 years. There's a reason tip up barrels replaced rotating barrels. Not once do we see him fully reassemble the handgun. Probably because it's a bit difficult. Having a low bore axis is my favorite configuration and my 3 cz clones of different types give me that with proven reliability. The slide cuts on the 23 are perfect and you've got the whole slide to grasp, where's the CZ you pinch the barrel and many people have trouble grasping the slide. Id like to shoot a 23 but it's too big to conceal carry for me and what are the cost of magazines?

If tilting barrels are more accurate by default, why aren't more of them around (especially with target pistols in the mid to high price range, where "keeping it affordable" isn't as much of an issue for manufacturers)? I don't understand why people believe that myth. By the time the barrel starts moving (e.g. tilting, rotating, doing the hokey pokey or whatever), the bullet is already out - it couldn't care less what the barrel does several feet behind it. It _doesn't_ benefit accuracy in any meaningful way. Which is why manufacturers keep building the equally accurate, but simpler and cheaper tilting mechanism. And that's why not more people are talking about it. It's an innovation (well, it _was_ at the time ... "the time" being over 100 years ago) that already died once.

Even the G2/G3 series from Taurus can do this. They don't have a manual decock but if you want it decocked with a bullet in the chamber, you can reassemble the slide with a cartridge in the barrel. And it's still easier to put back together than the crap reassembly in this video.

Glocks innovation, was cutting the weight and complex machining out of the fire control group.
