Doing the sums its probably somewhere in the region of £ 250,000.00 - £ 275,000.00 depending on the stand cost ( EOS 2's £ 22,500.00 | Antileon EVO Mono Power Amps (Pair) £ 72,500.00 | Commander Pre-Amp £ 60,000.00 | Vanta Speaker Cables 2.5m (Pair) £ 16,750.00 | Ethos CD Player £ 35,000.00 | I presume that is a DAC under the CD and above the Commander Pre Amp but couldn't find a price for it so allowed for the Gryphon Kalliope DAC £ 24,500.00 | If you include for interconnects which are all VANTA then these can range at £ 6,250.00 for an XLR (Pair), £ 5,250.00 for Vanta Power Cables, £ 3,250 - £ 3,750.00 for Vanta Digital Interconnects. Vanta StandArt equipment furniture which surprisingly was not used here including on the Mono Blocks again would cost around £ 1,500 per level except for Mono block supports which would cost £ 16,750.00 (Pair) but were not used here). I think you can safely call this a 1/4 million system. Imagine if you went for their flagship £ 360,000.00 speakers? No wonder he cannot afford socks or a suit a size bigger to fit him (I talk in jest of course, who am I to question fashion at the age of 60?, lol)

As I thought about what Gryphon is doing here, and what they've done with their Pantheon's crossover, it's interesting how they really have focused on performance in this model and "real world" living spaces that can co-exist with high-end speakers. This seems like a game changer as to how they are dealing with living space constraints by tailoring the crossover and the overall design. I know PS Audio has touched on this with their FR30'S, but I hope you are able to get a pair of these to test and compare with non Gryphon Gear which we know is phenomenal and may even make a Bose speaker spectacular 😉 But if what you heard at the demo can come close to what you heard If is that good, then I hope other manufactures ears are up, because in all the other channels, the consensus in the comments is that having a dedicated listening space is not possible.

I am not trying to be rude but here is my experience for what it is worth. Being on several hifi shows and experience difrent combinations and setups. Knowing some of the gear and been on demonstrations of speaker cables (everything else the same) and other demonstrations of power conditioners and power cables (and everything the same). When those demonstrations pointing out that we get a BIG difference of the sound. By just interchange few of the "components"/preconditions. Then it was a eye opener! In that regard that we could see modest speakers performing wonderful in some rooms, sound despite they're not top of the line or high end in any way. (Speaker manufacturers that hook up their speakers to exceptional electronics. And of course they want to show off their speakers in the best circumstances as possible). When you look closely on the whole system you see cables, power conditioner, electronics that IS top of the line that are far more (unrealistic) expensive in comparison to the speakers that they are hooked up to. So the question is what are we actually listening to and what conclusions we can get when attending this listening session. In this demonstration we have electronics that probably weight more than 200kg in total.. and top of the line. With a big and treated room. So probably most of the buyers of those speakers will not have that preconditions with big room, treatment or >200kg HW. Then when the buyers of the speakers will most likely not get the sound quality as at this demonstration. What we can learn from this type of demonstration: 1. What the maximum performance potential of the speakers that we can get or possibly could get. 2. And knowing what the max sound quality could be of the speakers then we know how much the speakers COULD SCALE when upgrading the rest of YOUR own system electronics. But we CAN NOT SAY that those speakers are better or worse than another pair of speakers of a different brand or model. When all the preconditions most likely is NOT the same. Just my two satoshi. 👍🎼🎶🎵
@PursuitPerfectSystem2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I asked the same question on the day, how much of the great sound was the speakers, how much the Commander pre amp or how much just the designed in synergy of all the gear from one brand. Without doing a whole host of comparisons its impossible to know but at the end of the day the speaker being the final link in the chain it has to be able to produce the sound we heard even if its being fed by much more quality than it has. So I took that away from this demo, the speaker can really deliver beyond what I expected and that I really liked the sound of an all Gryphon system. It was very enjoyable to me

The reason why I look at speakers from all sides is such that I can detect a bass reflex port. Bass reflex ports are no problem for far from the wall placements, for which my home is far too small. I prefer other speaker concepts. Acoustic suspension (closed cabinet), passive radiators , or controlled ventilation by design. Why all the expensive design efforts to a speaker if the user can change its entire characteristic with a 5 ct foam plug? I had that with my first set of speakers.

I believe I can make any system sound better with Dirac because of the room, that goes without saying to me, but in this system I would want to have Dirac in the source and thats not what is being demonstrated here. The HiFi world is still very new to Dirac and they havent heard good demos of what it can do. It will take a long time for this to happen as for a lot of audiophiles they are set in their ways and used to sound without it. However this system without it still sounded better than excellent and was not mid bass light as a lot of systems are when played in rooms. This system was setup very well and the overall sound was mesmerising in ways to make you forget about technicalities and just enjoy it for the experience. That doesn't happen to me very often hence my excitement for the system.

Commercial Bullshit! It is impossible to have same dynamic at low volume than at high volume... In addition if you are interested by sound, take a look at fletcher curves, human audition is not equally sensitive at different volume, that's why loudness setting are introduce in 80's... We just hear medium at low level if nothing is corrected accordingly.
@PursuitPerfectSystem2 жыл бұрын
Your confusing the speakers in room behaviour with the amplifiers capability to resolve information and dynamics. You dont want an amplifier built around the fletcher munson curve, you want that from the speakers setup in the room. This is why loudness buttons on every product sound terrible and why no high end audio product offers it. None
