SST stands for Scura Science and Technology. As in Brian Scura, the inventor of the gyro ( who also rode for GT). So in a way the SST gyro is the original.

I still have my 80's GT Pro Performer I picked up in 1993 or 94. It needs to be completely restored though since it's been sitting in the garage for almost 20 years. My baby, a 1986 Dyno Compe II I built in 1986, was stolen in 1992. Have some great memories with that bike. Riding around Ventura County, hanging out in Camarillo with some Redline, Haro, and GT/Dyno factory riders, riding around Reykjavik Iceland, and finally Virginia Beach VA.

@@sgreene8614 My mother was from there and she wanted to move to Iceland in 1986 so we moved from Southern California to Iceland and lived there for 2 years before moving back to California for 2 years, and then back to Iceland for 2 years, then moving here to Virginia. I think my dad was getting tired of packing up every 2 years. We've been here in VA ever since.

My 1984-85 CW Z Frame was stolen in 1986 in Va Beach. Ya never get over that

I wish that the seat post clamp wasn't attached to the frame. I'd prefer to find a circular styled clamp that was very popular when I was a kid.

The guy that designed the original Gyro for Odyssey in the 80's left the company for SST and named their version of the rotor Oryg (which is 'Gyro' spelled backwards) some time in the 90's. I don't think there's much of a difference.

Brian Scura designed the Gyro, and had SST as a company long before he invented the Gyro. He was always coming up with cool parts, I'm betting he made minor changes to his original Gyro designs to avoid getting sued, and put it on the market as the Oryg.

I just got the 2020 in dayglo pink.I had a 87 world tour growing up that I heard when it was stolen ended up in freshwater pond Enfield ct...god I loved that bike.Had to buy the 2020 when I saw this video about a month ago.Havent tried any old tricks yet I just had surgery in sept..looking forward to riding it ASAP

it's a pretty rad attempt on the og from back in the day. i'd be proud to has one if i can find one now. had the performer and pro performer when i was younger but me and my friends were always trading our stuff so off the bikes went. wish i would of held on to them.

I have the same one, ordered it brand new in spring of 2012. They are nice, I've never seen another one in person. I'm trying to find redwall tires that aren't extremely wide because mine are starting to wear out

Just got mine, you can still buy them in Europe. I will keep it stock as much as possible. Just adding what this bike is missing like the freecoaster and pegs, plus all black tyres as the gumwalls clash with the yellow.

I have the 2021 in white. My only real gripe is the seat post. Maxxed out forward, it tilts too far back for my taste. My neighbor wanted to take a bike ride with her Russian gymnast friend that was visiting and they needed to borrow my bike. I had to rotate the seat post to point the bend forward for her to sit on a level seat. I have a white seat post with no bend on order, but who knows when that will show up.

Sweet I'd ride it. Swith out the gyro & bracket maybe head set??? That's it tighten spokes, put pegs on left side & its on. ThT bike is basically a Cadillac. Where do u buy one ?

I didn't like the bikes fork offset which the front wheel is way too out, you probably will have difficulty doing a nose wheelie and also I don't like brakes on my bike

🤣👍 I damned sure am going to track down a set of GT fork standers because it's a must have on my customization list for my bike! I've seen less expensive standers, but I'd pay the extra cash just for the GT logo. I've had the first Pro P reissue since last year. That bike did need a few additional parts. Compared to this 2019, it was a bit scantily clad🙄. I'm going with as much Odyssey parts as possible. My hazard lite rims should be ready for pickup in the next few days. I decided to build my first customized wheelset. In current condition, my bike gets plenty attention (some unwanted). I'm almost 40, so I understand what I'm riding on, and it won't be laying on any sidewalk when I'm purchasing my Gatorade. The only other GT in my area is a yellow 29 inch, so I'm riding something that's rare at this point. I guess the disappointment I had with finding that sweet old school dayglo pink powder may be a good thing🙄? By the time it's all completed, I'm surely going to have the holy grail of GT's. A Terry Adams edition bayou bar is my next must have.
