In this video we finish stripping the forms
In these videos I cover key aspects to the build of the new rooms using the same method as we did on the main house. Electrical and plumbing embedded in the concrete as we pour. No need for drop ceilings as we do our form work to look nice without it. No need for rendering the walls as they are perfect and ready to finish as we pull the forms. No need for chipping open the concrete to place electrical in walls and ceilings as it is already there during the pour. This does require planning and fore thought.
We are a Fil Am couple sharing our lives between living in Texas USA and Iloilo City on Panay Island Philippines. We share dealing with two different cultures, building our solid concrete cast in place home beach side and exploring/ seeking new things. We hope you enjoy and join to be part of a bigger family here on this channel.
Thank you for being apart of our channel and lives.

Great tips spoiled husband. Salt air is unrelenting. I worked on our west coast at a marine laboratory and bought a new car with chrome roof rack. 6 mnths later it was ruined. Rust everywhere. Build looks great.

Chiming in late here...A busy day here... Taking notes now on the tips in the vids plus from the comments from viewers... Some useful ones today! With all the supports/framing gone, the new build looks great! Already you can envision what is to come... Mel cooking up some mighty fine food, you are a lucky man, James! I am on day 1 of a 2-day fast, the old stomach was growling seeing that plate of food haha! Nice to see the banana trees coming back in a bit, and the plants/rocks/planting beds look super! The kids are enjoying the road trip I think, the darn phones all have these days - I remember my kids complaining because they couldn't have a private phone line in their rooms (huh?????)...No TV in their rooms either back then...I was a mean daddy I guess compared to today! Those two are good kids (mine were too most of the time!)... Looking good, everything! OK back to the laptop...Long day and till working. Having clients 12 hours behind to 4 hours ahead of here will put a crimp in your social life! Take Care All There... 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍

That's one of the things I like about James. Very detailed information!!! As he says. It could save a small fortune in the long run! Btw. An American( very smart , Vietnam vet!) I knew over here, said he would never build a house near the Ocean, just because of the corrosion . That was long before James started his channel tho. Perhaps , after watching James, he might of changed his mind? Lol

Had a house on Padre Island and the salt air would destroy everything it could outside the house and inside as well. My experience here is that there is far more corrosion at an aggressive rate I didn’t experience on Padre nor in the Midwest rust belt. James is 100% on being meticulous with what you’re building with to protect your home.

I remember in the late 80s and early 90s those aluminum windows with the steel screws, they would corrode in no time. I made some decent money in scrap aluminum boy. Grinding them dollars, nothing went to waste. Great video again.

I know you use to sell electronics. Spray connections with Conformal (that’s best I remember name). It is used to coat electronic boards to protect from atmospheric conditions. Dried it looks like a clear coating.
@TexasFilipino
@TexasFilipino 3 ай бұрын
Yes coating the boards is great but you have to be careful of shielding effect in the stranded wires causing a bad connection.

Ive tried a variation to see what works best and so far the only metal defeating rust is the fencing i properly used rust inhibitor then red oxide then epoxy paint then varnish then shellac and finally laquer. You have to use shellac 48 hours after varnish and laquer 72 hours after shellac. You cannot put laquer over varnish without sealing the varnish first with shellac. Laquer will chemically react with the varnish and weaken it and make it cloudy. But the shellac penetrates the varnish and seals it and wont chemically react. Its been 3 years and not a spec of rust while everything else ive tried is bubbling with rust at various levels. The most rust is where i just used epoxy paint. The red oxide 1st and epoxy 2nd works better than the other way around.

James when I was in the US I had trouble with wiring on my truck wire connections. I went to doing all connections either crimping or wire nut and using hot glue to seal the connection. It worked really good against the road salt.

You need to get some vulcanizing tape aka self fusing silicone tape and use that on all your electronic connectors that are outside. You put that on and the cover it with electrical tape and you’ll be good and if you want to do it like the military then you put a coat of scotch coat on the outside of that and it’ll protect your connectors for years and they’ll always look new when you remove the weatherproofing

for here automotive we use silicone grease. perhaps that will help like our salty winters here. perhaps a combination of silicone grease and silicone sealant?

@Twobeers1

Good Morning. Assemble connectors with wheel bearing grease to keep any kind of moisture getting into them & attacking the metals, yeah, it's messy but it works, don't tape them up (will end up trapping moisture). Do not use lithium grease in a salt water environment. Brass & Aluminum don't play well together in salty environment's either. Just sayin

Wow! I have never seen BNC connectors corrode like that. So do you think if you migrate over to the newer NVR 4K digital systems that use CAT 6 cables that they would corrode too?

Ever tried a small dusk to dawn Photocell Sensor switch for the outdoor lights? I have a smart switch on my pool light but found I liked my dusk to dawn Photocell Sensor switch instead because when the dark clouds rolled in the pool light automatically turned on.

That is a temp switch until we get the perm stuff in place. I actually bought many timers a long while back that are programmable to schedules. Say you want this group to stay on all night but another group to turn off like 11 pm. We are setting up the landscaping wiring now.

If you love your tools you have send them. Quality tools here can be a challenge. The good ones here cost a fortune. The cost of one tool you could send a huge box full of tools. Buy a transformer here if your from the states and rock on.

So just asking .... You're correcting my wife how to speak her language? Do you realize there is over 150 different dialects in the Phils? Do you know that just down our coastal road from Iloilo to Antique Province the language and dilect changes many times just from town to town. Even like charcoal can be Uling oling panggatong and so much more just in one little area. Biyon example sentence "madam okay enjoy your food madam okay ayan hello po welcome ... palangga Ilonggo okay comment comment lang tayo ... gisado lang tayo madam Sally pancit biyon"
@TexasFilipino
@TexasFilipino 3 ай бұрын
Funny thing is you are trying to criticize her words. Let's have a look at your English. You wrote "Not biyon its bihon why u like that lol 😂even english its not that called it" Now let's correct this and have our own laugh. It's not biyon, it is bihon. Why do you like that? (lol emoji) Even in English it's not called biyon. Here the correcter needs to be corrected so that it is discernible.
