Nice and simple. Honestly now how many mosquitos are biting you at night..how many Geckos are crawling around your place clicking at night and waking you up. How often to the barking dogs go off at night..along with the roosters at 4:30am. I'm sure you'll say that you never hear them...and are never biten by the bugs..are you totally ok with profusely sweating at night. Well God bless you..I couldn't live that way. Dont get me wrong I do live in the Philippines..but I have to gave Air Con..a 4 burner gas range. A sealed home that prevents all the critters from getting in. I have to have warm showers..a fridge with a freezer. And I can't drive a motorbike so have to have an SUV. Yes I pay for it..but just gotta have it. But we can break bread together because the bottom line is we are with are beautiful Filipinas in beautiful country living the dream

Luxury compared to here in the United Kingdom where I lived in the back of an LDV Convoy van for 7 years. Many people now live in vans in the UK because the cost of living is so high. $40 per month for your home, out in nature, with a garden, the basics, what more do you need? It's ideal. Lovely. I think I should move to the Philippines (rural definitely not city). This country is doing my head in.

They have chickens and fighting cocks, mango trees, with ants that climb up and down, some just sit on branches looking at you, and coconut tree. Small boy climb the tree with no rope, and 30 ft up chops the coconuts down. Grated coconut with coconut milk and crushed ice, best drink in the world, polythene bags of buko juice, And huge rings of pineapple with salt on for breakfast. Then morning swim in local barangay resort, In the evening barbaque milk fish, and fresh chicken served on table covered with palm leaves, table easily cleared, pet dogs eat leftovers, no plastic or glass waste. I've never felt so healthy or so alive as I do when I'm in the Philippines. Everyone friendly, and happy, and barangay captain ensures all live as friends. Mabuhay.

I went to college in the philippines, back then for 12 credits tuition for a semester was $100. Best part was my credits transferred, when I returned to the U.S. The college experience was amazing for me. Maybe looking to retire there, start a business to have passive income.

I was born in Manila and raised in the California. Thanks for sharing this clip. Looks like you have what you need, including community. Personally, I would be concerned with what happens during typhoon season. Even in Manila, the flooding could get pretty serious. Additional concerns would be access to good medical care, education, and law enforcement. Most of my family has emigrated over the years.
@IslaPamilya Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching and commenting. We have a vlog from Typhoon Odette if you are interested in watching. Also, we never experienced floods when it's heavy rain. Good medical care can be in dumaguete if it's really needed. Crime in that area is very low compared to Manila. We lived there very peacefully. Education, they have private school that I can say is pretty good. But you can only experience the electricity shortage, it's pretty often there. But you can buy generator.

Kuya, no doubt one has to have eyes open but people have been living on those islands for hundreds of years. Having grown up in an "economically depressed" farming region here in the US, my Depression era grandparents taught me to always be able to fend for myself. Learn emergency medical skills, know how to purify water, store food and maintain the tools required to create and repair shelter. I can plumb, work electrical and am a pretty decent carpenter and mason. As far as LE response, we never expected anything more than a report be written the next day. My wife and I will be relocating to the Phils in 2 years, life is good.

Siquijor is beautiful. I appreciate your honest tour. I would live in your house short-term with a girlfriend included. I have been to the Philippines 4 times, and things can get pretty boring by yourself. In about 8 months, Siquijor will party again. It's nice to see happy people enjoying the Philippines. Pre-covid, I traveled to almost every country in Southeast Asia. I still needed to have a break in Australia every few months. Get away from the noise and pollution. I remember, after 3.5 months in China, I was getting really uptight, trying to figure out what was wrong. I was visiting some people in the mountains and saw a bird. The first wild bird in over 3 months! Where I live, birds, parrots, cockatoos, ibis,etc... live on my balcony, the lake in front of me, and the ocean 5 minutes away. Before you commit to a lifestyle, take the time to check it out. Asian women are the best, and Filipinas are fun-loving and passionate. But, don't be a Bunny. Take your time, and don't get caught up in the moment.

You guys look happy. You are also younger than I am. I can 'rough it' for a while, but, I still enjoy my creature comforts. Peace and quiet, good food (Filipino food is terrible), bureaucracy, boredom, and the grind of getting from point A-B wear me down. I love it, but after 3 months, I need to rest up, hit the gym, eat healthy food, and sleep in a comfortable big bed. It's no big deal, I live in Queensland, Australia. A hop-skip-jump from anywhere in Southeast Asia.

Beautiful family and life. I grew up in south Korea and then parents moved to nightmare America. Now as adult, married with kids, I wish my children could experience the fun and freedom we had in korea. America is too stressful, expensive and materialistic. I miss Asia. Never take it for granted having lots of friends and great community easily accessible. Happiness isn't about money and luxury, relationships and peace of mind is king.
