Nice demo! Fellow Reverend and ES5 owner here. Saw your post on FB group. I have a Double Agent 20th anniversary. It has their P90 in the neck and a hyper vintage Railhammer in the bridge. I love the fat tones I can get with the P90. But when the mix gets too dense in the low end, I roll off bass with the contour knob. The only thing I’ve changed is the bass contour pot. I put a reverse audio log with same value. Now it doesn’t roll off quite so much right away. Gradually changes. Reverend is a great company and makes excellent consistent quality guitars with features that’s hard to find at that price point. Cheers!

😲 11:07... Could this be a sign? I have been trying out MULTIPLE electric guitars and amps at MULTIPLE stores for MONTHS (getting back into electric guitar after a handful of years back when I sold it all; I've still had acoustic-electric guitars and an acoustic amp), and I have pretty much narrowed it down to Reverend guitars. I had a local Charger RA I liked, but I didn't like the color. I ended up buying a Reverend Double Agent OG with a Hyper Vintage Railhammer bridge pickup upgrade on Reverb, but it fell through. Then, I bought a Charger RA in a color I liked on Reverb, and IT fell through! Well, after asking one of my local guitar stores about some other models, they're transferring a few over at my request from another store's location. I've got a Club King 290, Six Gun HPP, and Charger 290 (potentially, a Rick Vito Soul Agent, also) coming in the next couple of days, and I feel like one of these MIGHT be "the one." One of the tones I have really liked is "House of Cards," and I even considered a Tele, I also like Coldplay's Jonny Buckland's tone on "Fix You," and he also uses a Tele, but I don't actually like Teles as much when I personally play them, lol. 😂 And here is your video wrapping up with that song... It stopped me in my tracks, I stood there stunned, and my jaw dropped! 😲 I'm looking forward to trying this one out in person! Thank you for the vid! ☺️👍 Also, while we can all create our own unique tone, may I ask what were the key effects used to get the tone for "House of Cards," if it doesn't take too much of your time. 🙂 Thank you so much! ☺️👍 Great playing, also! Great variety!
@TheGuacamoleXplosion6 ай бұрын
Thanks 😊 About the tones in my “House of Cards” version: For the rhythm part, it's mainly the Kingsley overdrive at low gain into Timeline on tape delay emulation, with some VCA compression from the Sonuus Voluum; Club King on Neck PU. Bass part is Voluum doing compression into M5 on “Bass Octaver” model. Lead is similar as rhythm, but with Club King on Bridge PU, ProStage Remote Wah (mounted under the board) used as a clean boost to push the Kingsley further into overdrive, and Timeline on same preset, but with delay mix and repeats turned up quite a bit.

Stumbled on to this over at TGP. Outstanding demo, better than most of the usual "influencers". Very nice playing as well, very tasteful stuff! I was curious about these guitars and your demo has increased my interest significantly (my checking account does not thank you for this, haha). Question: do you get some of that semi-hollow "air" in the tones? Some semi-hollows I've played do it, and some don't, sounding more like their solid body counterparts.
@TheGuacamoleXplosion7 ай бұрын
Thx! About “air”: I guess this is somewhat subjective. I had a Gibson ES-135 Ltd. before, and I would say it’s comparable on both, both sound more like a solid body than like a full-hollow guitar.

i think you convinced me. I was thinking of getting a club king back in 2015 but didn't have the will to depart from my funds for buy it. But now your sound has inspired me. I need a semi-hollow p90 guitar and i guess this one's it. I think in 2015 they really only had that ugly pure orange version, which put me off. But this blue is something else

Fantastic demo, such a great paying. What effect did you use at 1:23min ? Like it a lot !
@TheGuacamoleXplosion Жыл бұрын
On the lead guitar it’s a combination: Kingsley Minstrel on very slight overdrive. Sonuus Voluum does slow-opening noise gate (which acts like slow gear / auto-swell), tremolo and compression. Strymon Timeline adds reverb (actually fast multitap delay with smear/diffusion).

Could you please tell your thoughts on the tuning stability for this guitar? In the video sounds solid and awesome performance as well btw. 😊👍🏻
@TheGuacamoleXplosion Жыл бұрын
It's rather stable for a bigsby-type vibrato guitar. Well, the vibrato is set up to only allow downwards bending, not upwards ... this always makes intonation more stable, but of course limits expression range. Tuning thus is more stable than on my strats (that both have free floating vibratos), but a bit less stable than on my hard-tail Telecaster.

I keep coming back to your vid, (not only the guitar which I own too and which brought me here in the first place) but for you playing and would you have the reference for that Michael Campbell riff? I've looked for it in some records I have but can't figure where I've heard it before, this is driving me nuts. (And fantastic playing! I'm bewitched! - and this is a fantastic instrument too)
@TheGuacamoleXplosion3 жыл бұрын
thanks :-) The riff comes from a hip-hop track called “Trade It All Part 2”, by Fabolous ft. P.Diddy & Jagged Edge

It came with 011, which I played on this vid. Meanwhile changed them to 010s, since that’s what I have on my other guitars, and makes it easier for me to hit the right notes when bending :-)

Great demo! I own a black one and it's the best guitar I've had. One thing that I haven't figured out is the use of the bass knob. If I roll the bass off, it also rolls the volume down (?). Yours doesn't seem to act that way. Strange
@TheGuacamoleXplosion3 жыл бұрын
on mine, rolling off the bass takes away some volume, too (seems like the cutoff frequency is quite high), but I still find it a very useful control, especially when moderately used (I rarely turn it all the way down)
@istealhotelsoapful4 жыл бұрын
how's the hum?

WAY TOO much with the effects (pedals). I came to hear the guitar tones.......not Pedals or combinations of Pedals or Pedal chains. .
@TheGuacamoleXplosion Жыл бұрын
way too much for your taste, okay. I like delay and reverb. Aside from those, there's only a bit of compression or overdrive here and there. Pure enough to judge the tone of the guitar, if you ask me. Yet nobody pays me a cent to do my videos. So I do them how I like them 😘
