I think a bullets bouncing off walls is cool but maybe only for like snipers or something so it doesn't look crazy like that.... And it should only bounce once.... It would make for some awesome clips

What about some sort of grenade launcher? The launcher could also kickback the player shooting to dynamise gameplay

You could also add a particle affect where you can actually see the "bullet" or energy or whatever it is spin through the air for a second or two after it collides with the wall.

@@delgoodie Honestly, instead of limiting bounces to one, you can just divide the scale of the bullets by two and the damage by two so the more they bounce the less damage and the less visible they are

Halo's ricochet went pretty hard- I'm pretty sure there was restrictions based on distance and angle that allowed for a ricochet- but looking into what made that work the way it did might be key to finding the right balance to an otherwise "too-hectic" mechanic.

I think by adding a kick you could make some sort of melee possible, at the same time it could give you a pushback so it could be used for movement aswell, adding depth. Looks really cool ;D.

Ooo, good idea. There could be a some kind of compression hammer or something that can boost you off a wall for a decent acceleration boost.

You should make the teleport grenade much more visible for other players to see where it is so it isn't too op. A big glow or something would be good.

I was thinking something like titanfall 2's phase shift where you have the effects when going in and out of invincibility, and maybe a slight delay?

@@evhunter0962 whatever nerfs it a bit, since that grenade should also have some skill involved with it. It being really noticable forces the player to calculate his plan split second, where to throw it to not be seen, how far, maybe behind something, the angle, distance, surroundings, etc. If it was hard to see, player wouldn't really care where he threw it, he'd just want to get the fk away from there and throw it wherever.

This is looking pretty great so far. Have you considered environmental hazards, like an exploding extinguisher pushing you around or a broken window that shutters after a few moments Dead Space style? Would make the map feel more dynamic.

You should add recoil to the guns. The average bullet weighs 80grams and the average rifle bullet leaves the gun at 1200m/s Assuming a player is 75kg Every single shot should also shoot the play back 1.3m/s

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. When you fire a gun, you experience the same force your target does, just in a wider area.

@@MVS0N_ i think it could be integrated into gameplay pretty well. for one, DO NOT make the recoil pushing you back too much but noticeable if you stand still. you should still be able to move freely but be able to notice a change in movement because of the recoil if you ARE moving. say you could go to cover as you shoot and move backwards faster into it? while I AGREE 100% gameplay, I think players would intuitively think the recoil would push them back, at least a little bit.

This looks amazing! Really reminds me of Lawbreakers’ movement, which I still absolutely adore. Not sure if anyone’s suggested this yet, but in Lawbreakers your weapon’s kickback moved your character, so you could use that to reposition yourself, and even shoot behind yourself to quickly boost forward. Not sure if it fits the game fully, but it was one of the best parts if that game.

⁠@@delgoodieConsidering how new, good, and popular it is, you could check Battlebit’s options menus and see what you like for the various shooter options, then see what you like or could be inspired by. It also has colour options for various parts, even for markers, so your comment reminded me of that. This project is looking good!

This is a really interesting concept! In a way, it kind of feels like a modern take on old 6DOF shooters from the 90s. With the teleport, I can imagine some players might find it more intuitive to have their "exit" velocity vector be the sum of the teleporter's and their own just before teleporting, but I can definitely see how doing it this way simplifies its usage- often, excessively realistic physics for what you're trying to achieve can just end up being annoying.

Small detail, but why are you the first dev I've seen that actually appreciates the Chevron reticle? No joke, the military did a shitload of tests to determine how different shapes affect aim, and discovered that the chevron is the best shape for precision due to the corner being infinitely precise. (Dots and crosses can cover up their target at long enough distances) The circle is great for quick acquisition. The dot is good for simplicity. The cross is a jack of all trades, but completely beat out by... ACSS It is a chevron with a circle surrounding it. That's it. Technically the actual patented form of ACSS also includes windage, elevation, and auto-ranging features as well, but the base reticle is just a chevron inside of a circle.

Very cool game idea, I like the ideas so far. I also agree with many other comments about a melee that can give you a push, and gun knockback. Also, armor that has weight could be interesting as it would decrease knockback, but also make it harder to change direction quickly as a tradeoff.

Hi, I'm new here and think this game has one of the best movement ideas on the indie market. Looks really fun, so I hope development goes well :) Just one thing, that would be cool is, that weapons push one back a little (cause recoil is basically a force in the opposite direction one is shooting). That could open the opportunity to also balance weapons around the motion induced on the player using them and the option for players to use shooting like a rocket jump in quake. Blessings!

Holy shit guys the enemy gate is down!!! For reals this is a fantastic idea and I can’t wait to see when’re you take it. I think it would be awesome to have the guns with bullets actually push your character back from the recoil, but have energy weapons not have this feature. It could be an interesting trade off between predictable gun play for energy weapons and added movement ability for standard weapons

I've always been looking for a dedicated movement fps that has the movement I've spent so many hours getting used to in space engineers. Space engineers is very far from perfect but I'd certainly have a good look at how it treats movement in 6 axes, and how characters interact with the world during collisions. Astro is looking sweet tho and I think you've got a great concept on your hands! Also as for the nausea, from experience with space engineers it's going to be very common, regardless of fov (although you're doing well to minimize it). However it certainly goes away for most people after a couple hours of gameplay. Looking awesome!

For the Shot recognition there is a very interesting paper from Valve about Counter Strikes Network Interpolation called " Source Multiplayer Networking" which explains the use of "Ghost characters" and the hitbox. It helped me a lot to understand the problems in Multiplayer games

I think it would be cool if the grappling hook could grapple onto enemies where it pulls you together. It would make for awesome plays since you’d be able to somewhat control your opponent (only with the skill to do so of course) and I also think the game should have melee options if it doesn’t already. But so far it looks awesome, great work

All i can think about is how running along surfaces and then jumping and just flying around would be so much fun. Would love to see a magnet boots system or something of the sort to allow the player to run along surfaces to gain speed, and then be able to carry that over into floating and grappling and such

This looks so promising and I wish you the best of luck. Sadly you really need it. Making an indie multiplayer game is incredibly hard, because the playerbase decided wether this game will be a hit or miss. There are so many amazing indie multiplayer games which died nearly instantly after releasing. I hope the success of battlebit remastered might change the landscape a little bit. I really want Astro to work out because it looks really good and innovative.

add hp packs accross the map. Flank routes, main ways, jump pads? Could add special abilities, such as a map to display nearby players, or fast reload which last for some time. Maybe a throw knife that gives an anti-heal effect for like 5 sec or so. So many possibilities

As a developer who has released some solo games on Steam and has been studying the market for a few years, I will give my 1 cent of information. Your game has a good differential. It is very common to see many multiplayer games, including those from giant companies, failing. Usually, the game reaches an initial BOOM, but gradually loses players and causes a snowball effect, where queues get longer and more players stop playing, leaving only the few who love the game. So in your place, I would initially focus on a PVE mode, which would probably already take up at least another 1-2 years of development, to then maybe launch an Early Access and promise PVP Multiplayer. So unless your goal is just to try your luck by making a big profit on the initial BOOM, this would be my strategy.

I feel like there should be a out side zone that has moon gravity because of special shoes this would be neat because it would force you to have a disadvantage for people shooting at you from inside or from a balcony Edit: zip lines that you can change direction on into moon gravity zones would be cool

Also was thinking as a suggestion if you are planning on using jet packs as a means of moving u should consider air thrusters on the arms or legs. Idk I’ve just never seen a game use that before. Wish the best

Recoil should slightly push you to the opposite side of gunfire (depends with weapons, energy type weapons doesn't have recoil unless it creates sort of explosion), alowing sort of "recoil boosting" which is bassically shooting backwards and pushing yourself to the side you wanna go to and also making combat sequences more original and immersive. Ricoshots can be made only with certain type of weapons or ammo and also should have conditions such as type of material being shot and the angle of hit. Also an idea for maps the are happens to be in space or vacume zone where no (or almost no) sounds can be heard and any common firearms cant work due of lack of oxygen for explosions. That will make players change weapons to energy type weapons or any other alternative. Looking forward for this project, looks kinda intresting

For the bouncing bullets, I read another comment saying only snipers should bounce and I agree with that, but for fun you could make other guns cause a mini explosion on the wall as if the bullet broke on the wall and bits of it fly in different directions. The bullet explosion could have a small radius too so it’s not OP
