We are lucky to have these guys. The fact they are willing to put their life on the line for a country they were not born in (maybe not all) is admirable. The fact they are such elite soldiers and take it so seriously too. Nothing but respect for the Gurkhas, a real asset to the British Army.

I’ve seen the mountain they run up as part of the entry tests as it’s behind my Gurkha friends house in Pokhara. Terrifying 😂👍 complete nuts, the effort they put in to join is massive. All I had to do when I was 17 was a medical and to sign some paperwork 🙄 wish I had now 😣 I’ve seen them training in groups running through pollution in Kathmandu, they put so much effort in its unreal. And I only saw a little in passing let alone anything East Nepal. Thulo respect Gurkha ko laggi. Tell them all that and they will be happy👍🇳🇵🇬🇧

I guess it's very different now, but when I served in RAEME here in Oz back in the 1980s and early 90s, our Corps was responsible for the majority of technical trades. I get that a Gurkha regiment needs to be self-sufficient but I assume that trade training for these young soldiers will take place at REME units - at the end of the day, they are soldiers first and tradesmen second. Kudos to the British Armed Forces for realizing what a magnificent resource they had in the Gurkha Regiment.

Polite, well manerred gentlemen in peace-time. Stone cold killerrs in combat. If you are an enemy insurgent, and you know the British Royal Gerkhas are on your case, you best run, because surrendering is not an option. Whenever British Special Forces need some infantry on a mission, the B-R-G are the no.1 choice. These brave men deserve far more from the British Government when they retire than what they get currently. Most have a full, long army career, but they dont get equal pensions, compared to British born career soldiers. It is discusting how they are treated.
